@@jackmaxted374 yes, u are right. It was a knockdown, since there was a count thereafter. But what baffles me was the manner and way that the ref was trying hard to get involved earlier than he should when Usyk had the opportunity. Right from the begining of it, the ref can seen trying to step in with his hand gestures and was contemplating and was even blocking Usyk's view point before finally deciding to step in. That is high level of unprofessionalism from the ref and fight fans all over the world are not happy about that. These are the kinds of things that bring the sport into disrepute.
The angle of this video clip gives the clearest view of the referee trying to obstruct Usyk during the onslaught, you can clearly see Usyk actually having to shove him out of the way at one point, well before the ref jumps in to start the count. All the way along, the ref looked like he was determined not to let Fury be knocked out.
Yup.. And before Usyk shoves him out of the way the ref puts his hands on Usyks arm and Usyk stops and looks at him. It's just before Usyk throws the three punch combination that misses Fury.
The referee is blocking Usyk even before he stopped him.He is interfering with Usyk movement what did not allow the Ukrainian clear punch once or twice. I saw that now .Unbelievable.
@@simpleguy8205 A mandatory 8 count then. I think you get my point about the ropes. You don't have to hit the deck to have a knockdown recorded against you.
@peterjohngallivan I've seen earlier stoppages than that look at the joshua vs takam stoppage referee stopped it cause takam wasn't throwing back, but regardless the right man won
The ropes kept him up. It's perfectly legitimate to call it a knockdown in that scenario. Would you rather the ref let usyk punch Fury when he was practically lying on the ropes?
@@andymanland Because there was nobody home that's why. His eyes were rolled back and he was not cognisant. Watch it slow motion. He was out on his feet. Ref should have given him the standing 8 when he was in the ropes earlier. Or stopped the fight properly when he pushed Usyk away. Giving him the TKO. Instead he protected him by giving him a 20 second long count. Must have been in the take. Useless. He should have let Usyk finish him or do the fight. He gave Fury time to recover. Who is this Ref? Never heard of him. He never once told Fury off for leaning on Usyk, low blows, or grabbing the neck of good head and punching him in the back of the head either. What a tool.
@@colinm610 the association of boxing actually eliminated the standing 8 count in 1998 and it is usually not invoked in pro boxing bouts today. Seems like, in this case, it was a knockdown rule based on fury being kept on his feet by the ropes. So im guessing this was the reason the ref gave him a 10 sec count. Still too long as there like 20 seconds i think
Not necessarily. It was a close fight, and earlier in the event, a Ukrainian won in the most sus way ever. Clearly a bought fight. I saw someone joke ''Now we know where that $150B American taxpayer money went to'' after that Ukrainian win in the early event, and they may have had a point. But I think the outcome was fair. Usyk likely won 1, Fury won 2, 3 was a tossup, Fury then won 4-8, and Usyk won 9-11, while Fury probably won 12. Razor close fight. Usyk won by 1 point due to the eight count I think. Fair judging.
After fighting your heart out, being repeatedly punched for 12 rounds, body serging with adrenaline, silly things can be said. They were fighting for the Undisputed title it meant everything to both of them. Fury is always humble in defeat and has done a helluva lot for boxing. I’m pretty sure he regrets saying that but he was slightly concussed too.
If you notice the ref kept getting in the way of Usyk. Even the ref was nervous when people calling him out for saving and slow count.
At 0:14 the ref puts his hands on Usyks arm and at 0:22 Usyk actually has to push the ref out of the way..
The referee possibly just robbed us of the best ko of this era 😢😢
The referee acted unprofessionally by abruptly stopping a potential knockdown. I believe he had his money on Fury winning.
He should’ve left it go on for a couple more punches but tbf the rules are I think if the ropes keep you up then it’s ruled a knockdown anyway
You clearly know nothing about boxing. The standing 8 count is because the ropes kept him up. Learn the rules.

Also watch fury’s corner you see one of them wave it off then the ref stops it
This scene can only be compared to the last secs between Ali and Foreman.
It will be in the history.
Well done, Ukrainian Kosak
Fury was having too much fun in there and gave this round to Usyk
So we've heard lol
Either way, this is what we call "Asss_Whooping"😅
Fury saved by ref from being sparked out cold 🥶 belly got battered in there real good humbled 👌🏼🤣
Battered lol 😂😂😂😂😂 he won on 1 judges card and usyk won by the standing 8 count. Go learn the rules #Casual.

"How does this man not go down?" Because the ref stopped it from happening!
I was rooting for Usyk but you dont seem to understand the rules. The standing 8 count was for being kept up by the ropes. Those are the rules.
There's no standing 8 in pro boxing it was a 10 count for a knock down

What about ref 3 times messing around in usyk way?
usyk has to put him aside twice ... it is insane
Usyk had to push the ref away at some point. This ref should have stopped the fight or allowed Fury to hit the deck, prior to doing the count.
The ref was definitely on the pay. Look how he was getting in Usyk's way all the time. Usyk even had to push him away to get to Fury. Pathetic.
How did he not go down? Maybe because of the ropes 😅lol
0.22 sec: Usyk has to push away the referee to continue fighting, pushing with left arm: WHAT, is the referee doing! Corrupt referee!!!
I’ll tell you how he stayed up it’s not hard the ropes the ref the longest 8 count in boxing history an the bell being rung early 😅
Ref🤘
Ahh that's unfair he got hit in the nose and lost his concentration .ask Frank he knows😂😂
Its obvious how he never went down he used the ropes
Fury was out on his feet there any other fight that would of been stopped
A common case when it comes to Fury.
