I used to primarily sell online mostly on Etsy. I still dabble selling on Etsy, but I’ve had an antique booth for 3 years now and it definitely takes time if you’re doing it right. My best advice if you pursue an antique booth, is start small. I started with a 6x3 space and then after a year moved to a 9x10. That way you’ll get to know the mall better, the traffic and your customer base. And it definitely takes a lot more inventory to fill a space than you might think! But it is so much fun decorating and staging everything in a booth. Creating vignettes and layering, etc. I really love it. I don’t generate a ton of income from my booth (I lay out all my booth finances in my UA-cam channel), but I love it so much! ❤
Yay! Your kitty is so cute and I love the name you chose for her! I wish we could just be friend in real life and go have a coffee and talk about mall booths and small business and stuff! We've chatted some in previous comments. I feel like explaining, my UA-cam account is actually my husband's old one, it's confusing. Anyway, sometimes I feel like people may respond differently when I comment, thinking I'm a guy. But yeah, back to antique booths. I have so much to say! I actually just closed my booth in an antique mall. There are several reasons for that, from the fact that I am too busy with kids/work/school to the fact that the mall I was in wasn't getting good traffic. Like you mentioned, all malls will be a little different from each other. But one thing that's going to be the same about them all is that - you've got to have kind of a lot of inventory! And a variety of types of inventory. Which means tons of sourcing... which is fun but time consuming- and can feel like gambling... There's a channel you might like called Gilded Goods. I'm recommending it bcz that girl is probably in a similar life stage to you and has a booth only, nothing online, and she's really realistic seeming as far as the time it takes and money and things. Anyway- I'll be interested to see what you decide
