    Add some excitement to your life! www.gocoastguard.com/?
    For anyone looking to add an affordable switch system in their rig, this is a fairly cheap option for electrical accessories! amzn.to/49KbDTg
    I run the Switch Pros unit, and while it is quite expensive, its packed with a ton of great features such as programable switch outputs and more. amzn.to/49AJ8aJ

    I worked for HFT at Corp for 11 years, always begging for products like this, and for the company to work with the offroad community. I have moved on to other things now but so happy to see they have grown into the space. I used the Badlands on two of our "Show" builds last year

      HF has crappy duty cycle times for their electric winches, but then again, ALL electric winches have similar crappy duty cycles (at least compared to a hydraulic winch)... At least HF puts their crappy duty cycle rating in their manual instead of hiding it like some of the other electric winch manufacturers do...

    I went with the Harbor Freight Road shock edge 6's on my gladiator bumper. Great build quality and the light output is fantastic. When I saw them on the race Jeep, I was looking every day on their website. Was the first person to snag a pair at my local HF. Thank you so much Ben, I absolutely love them!

    I’ve been using Road shock lights for probably 5 years. I’ve torture tested and submerged the first light bar I got and I never had any issues. Out of all the vehicles I’ve put them on I’ve never had any issues. The biggest thing that sold me is when compared to big brand lights the big brand output was terrible and they fogged up in the first week of just normal driving and weather, the road shocks never fog even after being submerged. They are so many pros with the road shock brand I won’t buy anything else. Thanks for the great video.

    I’ve had BD and DD and rigid. I have also been buying cheap knock offs lately. The majority of them either the knock offs were the same output of so close you couldn’t tell the difference unless you put them side by side. My main issue is the expensive lights offered no reliability compared to the knock offs. Actually my knock offs have outlasted almost every stupid expensive brand I have owned. I’m done buying the expensive stuff. They are ripping people off. Period.

    • @00ninja00
      @00ninja00 10 місяців тому +7

      I’ve had the same experience as you. My rigid and bd lights have only been as reliable or even less as the ebay specials. To my knowledge about the manufacturer of led lights and other products made in China, these lights are all built in the same warehouses in China. Only difference is the brand name ones get their name slapped on it, and the branded name company themselves may/ or may not go through them once they arrive in America at their corporate office, they may go through a quick inspection to pass a rough inspection test. China ones usually get no second inspection and so it’s hit or miss. But they all use the same cree diodes or simi/Phillips diodes used by the big brands.
      unless the brand is strictly “made in the USA” only products, if they come from China, they aren’t any different from the eBay specials, they actually are made by the same manufacturers in China.
      Not that eqch product is exact same quality as the eBay special, of course if the high end brand spends more on a light for the raw material and labor to make said light, it will usually be of better quality than the eBay equivalent. But we as consumers have no clue which light the brand actually spent more money on producing and which light they spent exactly the same as the eBay light and just charge 5x more cuss of their name slapped on it.

    • @gregtennyson
      @gregtennyson 10 місяців тому +9

      I’ve had knockoffs on my pre-runner for years. The light quality and reliability of the knock offs is so close to the namebrand stuff. It’s hard to justify paying for Baja designs or rigid.

    I’ve been trying to figure out relays that would do this to where I would add a second one to have my low beans trigger 30 or a manual switch trigger 30 on the second relay. This would allow a manual override to turn it off all together or have it fixed to my lights.
    This video is amazing at explaining the relays. Please do a relay video alone for lights and title it as such because I bet that video would make views!

    With how road salt and decier in the winter, up here in eastern half of WA wrecks everything during winter driving, I won't spend top dollar for high end lights any more. My Rigid Dually lights are getting wrecked.
    Harbor Freight really need to offer (or include) a clear lens cover. I've been running clear lens covers on my Rigid Lights since I installed them in 2017, and the lens is in perfect condition because the cover protects them from road sand, etc in the winter.

      I picked up two of the 4 LED for my pillars and two 6 LED for the front bumper on my Gladiator.
      Used your second relay suggestion as the base of my setup except I wanted to keep aux 1 and 2 open for future use and the lights are too much for 3 and 4, so I used 3 and 4 as triggers
      Relay one:
      Battery power to 30
      Aux 3 to 85
      87 to 30 on relay 2
      Relay 2:
      30 powered by relay 1
      85 connected to factory high beam
      87a connected to low on pillar lights
      87 connected to high on pillar lights
      Duplicate setup for bumper lights.
      Now to find a relay holder...

    Great Review, the Roadshock lights do look great for such a good value. You can tell the Baja Design is brighter overall but not enough for me to justify the price difference. Although with your F250 setup, I think the two Roadshocks on the outside and 1 Baja Design in the middle would be the ultimate package for that truck. I do light how much side light you get from the Roadshocks. The 2 Roadshocks put out as much if not more side light than my 6 3" Pod lights in my Raptor Bumper. Thanks for the review, I think I will invest in a couple. Also the amber lens is a solid Yes from me. Love the amber light offroad and in foggy conditions.

    I'm extremely interested in these RoadShock lights for the price point.
    But for the BajaDesign lights, why not send them in the BD and get the refurbished/replaced under warranty. I imagine it would cover the issues with the delamination or even the pitting you were talking about.

      Yeah, it's a quick and easy email to BD. Definitely the best warranty dept I've worked with for Offroad lighting.

    Can you have both lights on at the same time without burning them up? High and low range.

    Not sure if I’m the only one that noticed but, I was pretty sure you said NOT to send 12v to the low and high beams at the same time but yet in the video I didn’t see the low beams shut off before the high beams turned on. Do I have a misunderstanding or can you run the low and high beams at the same time?

    • @JKGearandGadgets
      @JKGearandGadgets  Місяць тому

      My setup with the relay will not allow 12v to be sent to both circuits. There are 2 internal circuits, low beam is one circuit, the high beam is another and powers both the high and low bulbs. If high beam switch is on, it’s sending power to both bulbs, if you then send an additional 12v to the low beam circuit you will fry it.
      How I wired it and explained everything is correct and cannot send power to both low and high at the same time since it’s controlled with the relays

      @JKGearandGadgets  Місяць тому

      You won’t see it switch, as a relay is very fast, but it’s killing the power before swapping too high beam.

    Harbor freight has been doing a great job calling out the name brands by making better stuff and a better price. I always go to HF first for anything. That being said, they also have their fair share of junk too still so of course research and look into the products before you buy.

    The price for the light AND the damn harness (sold separately?!) are the only insane things about this product!!

    Im trying to wire these into my 2011 jku as replacement headlights, since i only haul it and never drive it on the road. Im so confused about the 3 wires fromt he old headlight to the 4 wires on the 4 pin connector

      Stock wires are low beam, high beam, and ground.

    even the baja designs was having the reflective coating fail after 4 years. m cheap ebay fog lights didn't last 1 winter. water gets in and condenses because of the heat then cant evaporate because of the closed lens, which eventually corrodes the coating. i doubt the HF version will have better sealing and a better coating than the name brand. another thing is heat, the led light output might look fine initially, but if heat dissipation isn't managed the output will drop off after a short amount of time. i dont see nearly as many heat fins on the HF lights as the Baja designs.

      They seemed to keep the same output for hours during our time in Johnson Valley with the rig.

    Great video. One question about the one relay setup, How many amps are going through switch "A-1? Switch two would work fine. one has all the load going through it? 30- 40 amp relay on a 5 amp switch as hot?

    • @beck4u2
      @beck4u2 9 місяців тому +1

      I’m thinking the same thing. All the load is going thru switch 1. Kinda defeats the purpose of using a relay to handle the load.

    Do they melt snow of the lenses? Up here in upstate NY we get alot of snow and most leds get covered with snow then they are useless.

    So you can turn on the low and the high and they are both on at the same time, I’m confused because you said that you can not connect both at the same time

    • @JKGearandGadgets
      @JKGearandGadgets  10 місяців тому +2

      The high beam circuit turns all the lights on, the low beam circuit powers the lower LEDs, don’t send 12v to the lower LEDs through both internal circuits

    @JKGearandGadgets I picked these up and trying to run them on my '22 Bronco. I'd like to wire them basically the same you did on your truck. But I can't seem to get the relay wiring working with Aux 1 being high and aux 2 being low. I can only get one to fire. I think I need to wire both 86 and 30 to Aux1 (it can handle 30A on that circuit). Any advice on how you wired it to your truck switches for your testing? I even considered just wiring directly to the switches (Aux 1 and 2) and bypassing the relays altogether but I'm worried about burning the lights out if I accidently hit both switches.

    • @ChrisNewman-s7o
      @ChrisNewman-s7o 2 місяці тому

      @jkgeargadgets Nvm. I just noticed that you were using Sw 2 on the post normally used for ground (85). I bet that's what I was doing wrong. I wired it up based off the schematics of the relay by default and added switches later, didn't see that critical detail.
