I've had my TP9SFx for over a month now with over 500 rounds through it. The last 200 or so being +P's with no failures. This pistol is exceptional and I love it!! I have big hands and handled all the varieties of pistols the gun shop had before selecting this one. I can't wait to start competition with it. The price was under $400.

Seems to corroborate the other comment saying you need to shoot the first 300 rounds with 125gr nato spec ammo to break in the recoil spring, i’m guessing you didn’t use 125gr ammo when it malfunctioned during those first 300 rounds?

My local gun shop had 4 of these with a red dot for 649. I own tp9sf and the tp9sf elite, no failures at all out of either one. I have recommended these guns to everyone I know. You cant beat them for the price, and they do have the best out of the box polymer triger on the market, no doubt!!!!!! Outlaw, keep doing what you do for the gun community. Im still jealous that you own a cz shadow 2, im saving to get one, but not these yet!!!!

@@brantingram I’ve never had a problem with my SFX on ammo. My TP9SF doesn’t like Blazer Brass 115gr, will occasionally have a failure to feed. So all 124gr hotter ammo works, and I’ve never had a problem with any jhps even 115gr, as they all tend to be hotter than the light target ammo. I’ve read that you can just get a lighter spring, but I just don’t run the light stuff in my SF. My SFX handles it all just fine.

I bought this gun recently and have shot 150 rounds through it so far, mostly 147gr, with some 124gr. I truly loved it. I bought mine for $500, with case, 2 mags, multiple rear sight mounts for opticals, cleaning kits, and the hardware to interchange things. I prefer the longer barrels for accuracy. Couldn't tell the difference in recoil between the 124gr and 147gr. Trigger was smooth and easy to use. Accurate from 10-25 yd targeting I did at an indoor range. Though I was slightly less accurate at 25 yds because I wasn't wearing my glasses, lol. I did have one jam within my first 100 but not worried about that, since I'm still breaking in the gun.
I love how you shout out to the homeless shelter in Ames, Ia. I live in Nevada, Ia and had been homeless years ago, glad you help support good organizations that help those who are homeless. I found one in Des Moines and they were a great benefit to me being where I am today!
Anyway, I plan to go shooting with my sons tomorrow and will be shooting a lot more rounds through it again. I'm not a gun pro, but I know guns and done lots of hunting and shooting over my years.
Like your videos and input on weapons. I use them regularly to decide on my next choice in arms purchase.

Although short lived, Palmetto State had this gun for sale at $400 “Daily Deals special “ before the panic buying. I’ve bought a lot of used guns in my life that I thought were the deal of a lifetime. After extensively shooting this gun I’m now convinced that buying it used at a local pawn shop for $360 + tax like NIB set a new standard for my best gun purchase ever. I suspect that there will be a new price range for this particular model when the buying frenzy slows and they become available again. Knowing what I know now I would gladly pay $550-600 for it should I ever need to replace it! My son has one and he’s put an aftermarket mag well, freedomsmith trigger (which actually increased trigger pull weight), the lighter trigger spring kit, so now it has a lighter pull again plus the reduced travel and superior reset, which was hard to improve on! My biggest takeaway from all the mods he did was how inexpensive the upgrades were with the trigger being the most at around $70. Mag well $40. Spring kit $18. New extended mags around $60 for 2. Race gun totally competition ready for less than $700.

The triggers on my Caniks are awesome and they come with great sights. The idea that you need to spend 2000 dollars to get a quality firearm is absurd. I think, with a lot of firearms, you pay for a name just as you do with clothes brand, cologne, etc. Lose that line of thinking and you can get a great gun, have money to add upgrades like red dots and buy more firearms. Have never had any reliability issues with any of mine and love the triggers Canik puts on their firearms.

Initially, I was not impressed. A call to century explaining the heavy spring issue, and they send me a new spring kit. I also installed a CZ reduced power firing pin block spring and all previous issues are now in the past. A little researching about sight replacement and I found the Glock rear adjustable sight and .285 to .300T fiber optic front sight, both from Dawson Precision, solved the shooting low issues.

Canik should have milled a ultra thin sight cut behind the optic cut as there is definitely enough metal behind the plate for a thin sight,
If you look it comes up at an angle and looks thin but just under about 1mm down it thinkens up so if they removed around 1mm and milled a rear iron sight cut it would solve the problems of having a smaller optic,
And if you look at the rear of the slide they have removed metal from the area on the rear of the spot they should mill a sight so there would be even more material to work with if that styling was changed a bit, but even without changing that there is enough space and metal for a rear iron sight to be milled.

I have the Elite SC version and love it for concealed carry. Whenever i go to buy an SF (if you can find one) or an SFX at a gun store, they have them marked up WAYYY higher than MSRP. Gun store owners know what they have. If you can find any Canik handgun at MSRP, or close to MSRP, GET IT.
    *UPDATE*
So far no stovepipe with my SC. I went to a local gun store to verify their FFL before buying a new SFX online for $549. They had a NEW SFX on sale for $499. Bought it right away. LUCK. I do plan on buying a Sprinco spring kit for it to balance the springs and have a Vortex Viper red dot already for it. Next will be a magwell. I like the full setup. The trigger is great on it already, so not sure if i'll bother switching it out.

Just bought a TP9SFX bc of all the great reviews and I really appreciate you really going through basically everything.

11:39. Removing the backstrap pin is a bear. You haven't tried changing out the magazine release for a left handed shooter. Now THAT is a bear. Still Canik's are awesome and for the price, you can't beat it. BTW, if you read this, why don't you ever review Springfield Armory XDM series? Those are true ambidextrous semi's. Keep up the great reviews.

You'd think with such a deep optic cut they would utilize that and make the plates thinner so you could co-witness from factory. Oh yeah, and let you keep the rear sight.
If they would've done that, I would have considered it. Would've been reaaallll hard to beat.

I tried the Canik next to my 5in PPQ M1. Liked the PPQ better but my buddy bought the Canik. He shoots it lights out. Used it to take first place in our local centerfire handgun Precision league and by a pretty large margin. Pre COVID he also used it for our local steel shoots and did really well. It's a hell of a bargain, that's for sure.

I very much enjoy his videos and his reviews and opinions. But on this gun a couple of his dislikes I myself felt opposite. I think the gun feels absolutely wonderful in my hands it could use a little more texture when my hands get sweaty. And as far as reliability I had not one issue. The first 500 rounds I switched back and forth between 115 and 124 with not one hiccup. And as far as accuracy I would put it up against some of my higher end competition 1911s. In my opinion which is just that my opinion u can't get much better for the money. But I very much enjoyed his review as always.

Most people do not know this but one Turkish Lira equals 0.05 USD. That is how Canik can sell their guns so inexpensively. If the exchange rate was closer to 1 to 1, it would cost more. So you are purchasing a really high quality pistol for a great price.

Dredd honestly very excited and very nervous cause while I’ve admired firearms my whole life in various media forms I’ve never fired one and the thrill is very new. I got my fiancé a Taurus g2c cause honest suggested it as a good entry gun and now I bought this and we’re both going for a concealed class soon and also a range visit to practice.

@@CarlosHerrera-wx7zf CC classes are a good start, but, they are very dependent on the quality of the instructor. Some instructors are there to do the barest minimum to get paid. Others care a LOT more. I'd encourage you to find out who will be teaching your class and start asking questions ahead of time. If you don't get good answers in a timely fashion, cancel and find another instructor. Also, please consider more instruction than just the CC class. Yes, it can be expensive, but, having more time with an experienced person who will help you develop safe handling habits and also prevent you from developing bad shooting habits which are VERY hard to unlearn. It is worth the money to prevent issues with bad habits.

Matt Emther My Instructor is an NRA USMC who owns a business down here, haven’t had time to schedule it yet but from what I’ve learned about their classes they are the best here. That said I don’t plan to only take the CCL class, I do want to find an instructor to teach her and me because I’m sure there’s a lot I don’t know but right now it’s pretty expensive and we’re just waiting till it’s financially ok to do so.

@@CarlosHerrera-wx7zf that's great to hear! Until you go to the class, watch some videos on how to practice by dry firing. The more you handle your guns (safely, obviously), the better off you will be. Also, learn how to do a basic field strip and clean on them.

I have one, and I haven't reached 500 shots yet. The problems I have: With reloaded ammunition, poor accuracy (I have SIG 320, Springfield XDM Elite, Sig 320 compact, Sig 365, Glock 19, Hellcat, all of these run with reloadable ammunition with good accuracy at least in my experience), and also From time to time, even with factory 124g ogival ammunition, this pistol likes to give a little grip on the end of the slide, causing a locking problem. I don't know if break-in will improve.

Mine came with 2-20 round magazines, although the witness holes only go up to 18. It's my EDC, and while it might be a bit harder to conceal than my former EDC, the APX Compact, it is lighter, even with 7 more rounds in it. The trigger is nicer as well. Buh-bye, APX.
