Of course man, the coach wants you to play simple, which is what you should do!
Sometimes you just need to shield it for 1-2 sec to wait for backup
I know keeping it simple is the best approach and always that's how Coaches tell you, but every player should be aware of their position and use this skills effectively. If you don't practice them don't use them. Also as you think of using a skill, always think of the play. Ask yourself questions ,will this skill help make this play or will I stop the flow of the ball and destroy a play that was about to create a goal scoring opportunity. As you practice think about this questions, as you picture yourself in the game alot of time .Remember repetition is key to developing consistency.

Irene Naidu. Don’t do it a lot, only in situations where you really need to. Example: Holding/shielding the ball in order to delay the play and have your attacking line make a couple runs. But even here, delaying the play should be minimal (1-2 seconds). Make sure to communicate while holding it off.

wait...when I play football with my friends and I am shielding the ball accordingly (the way it is done in the video) they always ask for foul...they say that I am not allowed to touch them

It depends on where your arm is, the guy in the video has his arm way too high and any ref would call that a foul but if you lower your arm to their belly thats more lets say legal.
You should be shielding your self not pushing your opponent. The video got it wrong. Just hold out your arm instead of pushing the defender back forcefully

It's because you're using an outstretched arm. Never fully extend your arm, just halfway, like 45 degrees or so. If he pushes in, you can "hold him off."
