Best thing about the raid scene is that there is no cheesy incidental music playing in the background. That adds a great feeling of reality to it.

This movie is so deep and serious.
I am currently reading (again) No Easy Day - a book written by Mark Owen aka Matt Bissonnette and I'm sure he had been consulting OBL raid with Zero Dark Thirty producers. Many details just perfectly cover with Owen story. There is also few minor exceptions. In the book Owen says they had two UBL ID confirmation from his wife and daughter - they stated the body was Osama - in the movie they did not confirm that. Also regarding to Owen the electricity had been disabled in the area during the ride but in the movie you could see neighbors have started switching lights on. Anyway ZDT is superb movie - I went to cinema to watch it and that was fantastic and exciting evening
They 100% got either some access to the book early or to him directly, as there are at least three published, verified accounts of the raid by SEALs who were there, and the movie version matches his account perfectly. They also have a joke when they are back at base about "women's underwear" - which is directly from No Easy Day regarding an earlier raid they had done.

It wasn’t called Geronimo’s raid. Geronimo was the code word that bin Laden was dead. There were multiple code words, each would have signified a particular outcome. The raid was called Neptune Spear
You totally right, but geronimo"s raid is the name of the scene of the movie.
I know these choppers are made to be pretty quiet but how can you not hear two of these things swing in overhead a kick up half the dust in pakistan and then have one crash in the yard. I suppose the people inside the house couldn't run anywhere by then.

bigmaxy07 It's harder to hear from a distance so that by the time they hear it it's basically too late already. Obviously, they were not meant not to be heard by someone 5 meters below.
The main feature here, though, is the stealth capabilities. Being bugged by Pakistani radars was more dangerous than being heard by the people in the compound.

Stealth chopper is designed tobe sound stealth at a certain height. But at that height it could possible that their sound is already suppressed better than a normal combat helicopter.
Late, but in the book written by a SEAL who participated in the op (called "No Easy Day", if I remember correctly), the occupants of the house didn't react at first because the house was close to a Pakistani airbase. Helicopters buzzing by were a fairly frequent thing. The choppers' reduced noise makes it sound like it was just passing by rather than right in the front yard.

Anyways, for the OC, suppressors don’t really make your gun zero flash, it actually still lets out some small jet of flames, plus they are using 11.5” HK416Ds which also contributes to extra muzzle flash coming out of suppressors, mainly due to the short barrel length. If they are using 14.5” HK416Ds, or 16” ones, there would be lesser muzzle flash because the gunpowder is totally cooked right.

If you were aware of the real story it's all a lot less glamorous. The Pakistani army was stood down and the SEALS met no resistance in the house.
They basically went in and shot an old man who uses a cane.

Because it's a stealth chopper hahahah. Besides jokes, the explanation for that in my thinking is they fear to go outside in the first moment and you will see in the next scenes some guys approaching the building and the security perimeter communicate to assault team rush up before starts conflict with the civilians

Not shot down. There was updraft from the compound walls, meant the rotor blades couldn't lift so it just dropped.

Why are the Seals shouting they are suppose to enter covertly not announce their presence.

Lee Johnstone not sure about this particular situation but i know it’s a combat tactic to announce your position to the enemy when you want them to know where they are. Can cause them to expose them self while you are in a can win scenario.
They are doing call outs as a way to just “explain” to the audience what are they doing, what does the *fist bump on head* mean, which means breacher up.
Plus, Rob (guy who shot Khalid) and other SEALs purposefully called their targets out, as a way of tricking them into knowing, “Oh, is that one of my brothers? What’s up?”, which is how Rob got the drop on Khalid, and others on Osama Bin Laden. Talk about psychological warfare in mimicking voices too.

you can read on the web that theh pilot actually helped to cover up the chopper crash by smashing the panels, comms etc.
