Iran was one of the first nation to use armed drones in combat (Mohajer 1, 1985). It was not very successful back then but it was the starting point for them and today Iran has capable to produce most advanced drones. Iran doesn't need a nuclear weapon to defend their country because they're already capable of defending it with the weapons technology(including nuclear weapon technology )that they already developed over the years. Iran is capable of taking out any threat that has been opposed to their sovereignty. Our Nation still depends on media inflated Israeli technology.

Drones have completely changed the battlefield. Those trucks full of kamikaze drones look incredibly innocuous, like a civilian vehicle, and the drone could take any path to the target, so tracing back where it came from could be a lot more difficult than tracing where artillery fire came from, not to mention, an artillery piece or multiple rocket launcher looks distinctive, especially if you have spy satellites in space looking for them.

Indian defense forces has now become active on drone front and now doing catching up game.
They should be hold accountable for not seeing this biggest threat and also the biggest opportunity that is coming now in drone fields.
This is civilizational issue where we always don't see any threat coming before hand ,we are fortunate that no war is happening , otherwise we could have failed miserably in drones warfare.
India defense forces always dream of big ticket costly foreign made weapons ,and overlook the changing pattern of non contact warfare.

It's very important to understand that we are living in an era of arms race. So just increasing our combat capabilities should not be the only goal because by the time we develop our capabilities, our enemies might become even more advanced. Especially when we have China as an adversary. And India's defence tech development & equipment acquirement is historically infamous for its speed. We simply don't have the numbers required to tackle a two front war.
Present government has actually increased the manufacturing speed, but the process of acquiring defence equipment is a very slow, old one & full of unnecessary hurdles. This process is still not improved.
Another learning is to not underestimate any weak enemy (like Pakistan). A sanctioned country like Iran is exporting drones to Russia. So you never know

Not sure about 2000 km claimed range for this size, could be several hundred km. Still significant enough to cause damage. But Iranian kamikaze drones are very cheap, and could be deployed in large numbers. Apart from the current kamikaze programs (including the one tested of Tata recently) India should develop one such drone with watered down capability and low cost. These could be used to take out low value targets of the enemy.

DRDO chairman who is a missile expert has been replaced with a man who is materials expert. we do not have fixed Goalposts...Those who work they remain silent and those who dont know how to work, cover it up by appeasing the higher-ups...

Don't understand why India lags in this area. India needs 1000s of drones for various missions combining the characteristics of speed, low observability etc. Hope India develops itself into a drone capital of the world. Later on, hopefully, this knowledge gained here can be used for developing India into an aerospace hub that serves the global market.

@@whocares3132 that sort of attitude is pathetic and horrible. This would have resulted in having the development of the necessary tech and would have provided much needed jobs and not just defending the nation. Also, pursuing this opportunity would have resulted in earning forex and tax for the government. We need to urgently change our perspectives.
