- Hi everyone here’s some footage from October where I managed to get a couple of days fishing done before the end of the season! Things looked good in terms of conditions and I even managed to connect with a salmon on day 2! However basically due to me being too excited and hurried I get him in the net I lost him at the crucial moment, I even managed to look the fish in the eye before losing it. Sickener doesn’t quite cover it!!!!
Happens to us all, it's the thrill of hooking and playing a fish, even if it gets off. Well done
Great video! Enjoyed that and as you say, you live and learn and it was going back anyway you more or less had it caught I'd put it in the book LOL!
Haha well my dad said the same thing about getting it in the book! maybe with an asterisk*
Experience will teach you to just take your time trying to land fish before it is ready is a common one . I really enjoy watching your videos and you have the right outlook for fishing enjoy it and be able to laugh at your efforts good or bad. Hopefully next time it will get into the net. Cheers Bob
Awesome catch! Love it
similar size river to my local water, what is your rod setup for this? ive caught plenty on worm and spinner but fly fishing is the next challenge!
Hi Danny I was just using a 7-8 weight rod here, big enough to cast a size 12 salmon pattern but would struggle if I started using tubes or sink tips, very good for a shallow small river though!
@@DaibhidhBiy ah that's cool, I've been using 6-8 weight so far but feel like I need to sink it a bit deeper in a few of the pools to get down to them, a bit of a dilemma.
Awesome videos btw, great ferox(X2?👀) in the other video! I've had a few down here in the lake District but not on mackerel 😂
@@FeversMcGraw you could maybe get away with an 8 weight line for some of the smaller tube flies or a sink tip maybe? My ferox x2 on mackerel is my still my only one to this day!
@DaibhidhBiy a 7/8 wt will handle tubes and sink tips no bother. I use a single handed 7wt and an 8wt for sea troot at night and fish up to 2" ally tubes no bother. Also use them for salmon when the river drops and they handle 1/2" and 3/4" copper tubes on a sink tip. 👍
Brilliant, as you said a lesson learnt .
Big thanks for the hard work for those who cant get to a river
Which part of Scotland are you fishing ?
Thanks for watching Stephen! I’m not going to give any location details out
I swore for you 🤦🏼♂️😃
I laughed out loud when I read this comment 😂 I Swore for me too! Thanks for watching!!
Unlucky shoulda stayed on the bank with it instead of getting in the water tight lines 🎣
You win or you Learn!!! ;)

@@DaibhidhBiy it’s easier said than done netting your own salmon 🎣
