This is why I buy imported pots from Thailand and other small Asian countries. It's an art.. US and China make their with molds and automated manufacturing. Buying these handmade pots supports small family shops. I have as least 80 large pots on the property. Many are handmade, glazed clay pots from Thailand weighing in between 50-100 pounds. Others, used as fountains, are concrete like these. When buying handmade items we tend to cherish them longer. Several pot may look identical with the same dimensions, color glaze, and pattern, however, each one is a little different. Thus each has character. Manufactered pots, despite having a nearly identical price, don't have any character. Each manufactured pot is truly identical. I don't see the need to cherish those manufactured items as I do the items I know someone spent a lot of time and energy making for my enjoyment. Us Westerners we have been taught to consume for the last several generations. We don't need new items because we need them, we get them because we are constantly told we need newer, better, and to have the latest item or version of. We live and work to consume. Unfortunately, many cultures are turning into throw away consumers as well. As a result everything is mass produced. Mass production only provides profits for a very few individuals. Whereas with handmade items spread the wealth around to each artist, skilled artisan, craftspeople, and all those who make items by hand. Now we're seeing even more job loss in manufacturing as a result of automation, robotics, and computer engineering. Understandable we need some automation and manufacturing of certain goods in order to meet the supply demand. However, in many instances, where automation, no matter the form, has taken over is the result of greed. Bigger profits for the select few. The shift to self checkout at the grocery stores, was very alarming to me. I had hoped with time they would fade away. Unfortunately that hasn't happened. Infact one of the last few holdouts in my area just installed 6 self checkout kiosks. This took the space of three registers. Now 1 person handles what three used too.
Over the next few years, peaking around 2025, we're going to see another surge of college educated young adults enter the work force. I feel this could tax an already crowded environment with damming results. Not only are we working longer, but the job market is going to see even more loss as a result in automation. This surge, and subsequent crowding of the job market may not cause another collapse of the market, but I do feel there will be less for my generation to invest as we work to support our unemployed college graduates.
The days of retirement are gone. My dad worked until he dropped dead of a heart attack after losing everything from financial scams and the collapse of his investment firm. My mother retired at 72. But this was necessary because her position was replaced by a computer program. My stepdad had a stroke shortly after his position was also eliminated. They too lost their saving from the market collapse and poor investment management by a firm. As a result they lost their home, vehicles, and the life they had spent their entire life working for. Now they live in a manufactured home on a rented lot 10 feet from neighboring trailers. Imagine going from living the life you dreamed of on 3 manicured acres in your dream home. To living in a trailer park. The bathroom is so small dad struggles to even shower. Doorway too short he has to duck to walk around the tiny home. It's a roof over their heads, but not much more. This wasn't a million dollar property. I think the value was like $400k when the bank sold it. A very modest four bed, three bath ranch style home.
Wow. Totally turned into an essay. Point is.... Buy handmade treasures and support small businesses. Spread the wealth.
P.s. Always have proper insurance. This includes private disability coverage.

Olá amigo!!! tudo bem? vou traduzir para o portugues todo seu texto, pois imagino que você escreveu algo sobre o futuro bastante incerto frente a globalização do mundo e de todos e todos querendo uma posição previlegiada trabalhando sempre no mais fácil, ou seja estudar para não enfrentar a mão de obra bruta. Tudo indica que num futuro bem próximo ter faculdade já não garante a ninguém uma posição segura no mundo para ganhar o pão de cada dia. Muitos terão grandes diplomas, mas talvez falte um lugar para excercer a atividade, pois o automatismo na industria está tomando o lugar tanto dos homens quanto das mulheres que já se veem obrigadas a trabalhar e ajudar no sustento.
