for me it was when I found out aaa just means morally corrupt and lacks depth, then resells you the same game but for more money and less content. but dont worry it will come soon in a dlc for 29.99
I love splat! I still dip into a select few AAA games from time to time. IMO a quality AAA game is about as good as it gets in video games. Unfortunately quality AAAs are few and far between. Thank god for the indie devs out there picking up the slack, unafraid of being creative.
What Splat fails to mention is the the bad AI, terrible path finding and other broken features. I have seen seen in Raptor's playthrough and Mack's review on Worth A Buy... Was kinda disappointed. So far, from what I can tell is that the game is pretty broken at the moment and the EA release date is set for the 20th. If the game is as broken as I have seen it to be in other play throughs... Oh boy this is gonna be a rough launch. I think Valheim set a precedence that early access can be done well. I have sneaky vibes the this title may not live up to that... Just sayin'.
@@Mookster28 ive seen the same, and from the reviews ive read apparently there is little content on the game past what is shown is these really short playthroughs
OMG someone who gets me! The overwhelming amount of multiplayer focused games is just such a burden. The better the multiplayer, it seems, the worse the campaign, storyline, and content overall. This is a general opinion, not focused on any particular game, but I need more games that make me feel like I'm creating something truly my own, without anyone butting in.
The one introverted viking, who's just hanging by the sea and enjoying his short trips to his fishing job Splatty: You move here with the other people and socialize!

You know what I miss? I miss the campy storyline of Red Alert. I want those cheesy live action cutscenes back. Combined with arguably one of the most solid RTS gameplay.
If you guys want another single player RTS look into Falling Frontier. It's supposed to release later this year hopefully, but it's a hard sci-fi game like "The Expanse". Can't wait! Awesome content btw Splatty!
I would love to see a sequel to this video. Over the last few days I've rediscovered your content. Thanks for still being on youtube and producing good content after all this time.
Love the commentary! Thanks for making videos. Some of the games you play, I'd be like omg nope. But, you at least make them worth watching. Have a good one!
Fun fact Norse chili is called Burnt snout stew. it's called that to remind children to let it cool off so they don't burn their faces off. My mummum and i used to make it a lot. She was from Norway.
Hello 2022 kids, we used to have strategy games like this called Age of Empires where you gather Wood, Food, Gold, Stone from the environment to build structures like houses, barracks, and walls. Then build army and kill enemies. It is good to see that RTS games have not completely gone extinct yet.
4:00 "Viking chili" Vikings were primarily fishermen and farmers. They didn't really have a lot of spices up there, mainly things like horseradish and mustard with a few other herbs. Chili was more prominent in southern areas of Europe. The Viking equivalent of chili probably would have been some kind of fish dish. Maybe a nice pot of chowder, or some salmon filet with cabbage and beans. The clans that lived farther inland would have incorporated more sheep and pig meat into their diet, less fish, but still chili was a rare thing to find in a Viking community. LOL. Learn something new every day. :)
I never enjoyed anything more than the konung 2 blood of the Titan. I really want something similar 😩 for years now. A game where you can manage multiple settlements and adventure with a picked team.
Really stoked for this! It's coming out tomorrow!! Btw I recently found out about your channel and I've been damn late. Thanks to you, my wishlist on Steam went from 10 to 40 real quick lol

If the "units" were actually people in the colony that fought as well as collected resources this would be so much better. Feel more like a real Viking society where the warriors were the colonists.

Starcraft 2 and spellforce 3 single player are super popular, the single player is the real soul of an RTS. But I guess they require real work as opposed to something slapped together to sell quick copies and then just to be abandoned. The AAA gaming industry has turned into hustle

You're not wrong about wolf attacks, in the middle ages at least the historical record indicates wolf attacks on humans were exceedingly rare and mostly unsuccessful when they did happen. Dogs have killed significantly more humans than wolves.
With regards to the multiplayer versus single player angle, I understand. But I do wish more would be shared coop, where two or three people can fully control the same team, or perhaps divide it up. Multiplayer doesn’t have to come at the expense of story.
I don't like how your troops just let the enemy stroll into your village and do whatever. How hard is it to implement some type of over watch here? This is unintuitive.
The question is, will you keep your base mission to mission? (I know, you hade to give up your first base, which really is just tutorial anyways). To me, the keeping of your base was the biggest selling point of Warzone 2100. I wish more RTS did that
The vikings called chili "ciligg". The Anglo Saxons, due to palatalization, tended to pronounce the g with a y, eventually leading us to "chili". Made up
First time watching, btw. Firstly, when do you breathe? Those sentences come immediately after each other, i would prefer a small pause to digests what you are saying. Secondly, wolves were a big problem for Vikings, WHAT? (For real, I had a problem understanding that you were joking.) And last, great that you are covering indie-gamers, Keep going!
This is a good lookin game. Really liking the graphics. Wish it wasn't "EA", I'm getting more and more turned off by the way games are "developed" the whole paying for betas (or many times they even seem alphas).
It is a pain, but I understand why it happens with smaller indie studios. They gotta get the game out and interest generated to make a return on their investment, and then have people find the bugs so they can fix them. It's when they get bigger and become part of a AAA studio, like EA, where there is a lot of people working on them and money thrown at the game that there is no excuse for a game to be released to the public in the buggy unfinished messes that they are.
This guy and his perfect curation has single handedly won me over from exclusively playing AAA games to mostly playing indy games

The first one with workers affecting the flora was for me: The settlers 3, Loved seeing those workers creating their "Ant" trail :3
Okay, I thought that had the trails too, but was second guessing myself.
How'd do you know its a viking game from just the name?
-Heim
"-gard" also works
Looks dope! Reminds me of the old settler games a bit. This one will hit a spot for that I didn't know I had for sure.
"Axing important questions like; Does your head come off when I chop it?" - best viking commentary 2021

"Let me axe you a question" Love it.
Settlers 3 made paths based on so many units walk over the one square in a certain amount of time.
the deform snow as they walk is really welcome touch.
