Think it's the lack of a wash like null oil to properly bring out details and depth that could have really helped these. Especially as it's the horus heresy. Accidentally doused my primaris ultramarine in watered down black paint and it... somehow turned out well... like a entire bottle of watery null oil and black leigon from my painting. The Cape on the consul REALLY needs a wash applied to it as it looks too plasticy
