আগে মুল জায়গাটার নাম ছিল 'সাক্চি' বা সাকচি ( না জানি কেন কোলকাতার কিছু বই ও পত্রিকায় এর নাম দিয়েছে সাকহী। হয়তো মুদ্রাঙ্কন প্রমাদ হবে)। এখনও শহরের প্রধান অঞ্চলের নাম সাকচি। ১৯১৯ সালে শহরের নাম বদলে রাখা হয় 'জামশেদপুর', আর সাবেক রেলস্টেশন 'কালিমাটি'র নাম হয় 'টাটানগর'।
কিছু অবশ্য দ্রষ্টব্য বাদ গেছে। যেমন 'রুশি মোদী সেন্টার ফর এক্সেলেন্স্', পি.এন.বোস জিওলজিক্যাল সেন্টার, সুমন্ত্ মুলগাওঁকর মেমোরিয়াল পার্ক, ট্রাইবাল কালচার সেন্টার ও তার মিউজিয়াম প্রভৃতি।
