    Great interview Erik. Lots of nuggets here. David was shooting next to me at SWN and I got to see a little bit of his process. I really appreciated him helping me in set up. Instead of watching me crash and burn he asked me a few questions and offered to let me use his spotting scope for the whole day. Was also great to see him helping his shooting partner who was at his first big match. I didn’t know this at the time, but I am betting David saw himself 6 years ago because that guy was shooting 6.5 CM with a Harris bipod.

    Not making light of anyone else at V2 but Christian is very interesting to watch when he's on the line, you can really see it in his face that he is studying the environment, I dont shoot competitively so maybe theres some sort of poker face that goes into shooting matches but with Christian you can really tell he's focusing.
    Also I used to "run" and sprained the same ankle twice and gave it up after the second time, years later I picked up biking and Ive been thinking about Iron Mans lately. It was nice getting to know David a little more, thank yall for yalls time ✌️

    ...totally relate to the 'third rail' concept for having something interesting/challenging to provide personal time and space in order to maintain equalibrium.👍

    This is a disciplined sport! David is the epitome of discipline. He’ll win the Nationals eventually. He’s in it for the long haul. Good for him.

    Great comment on mental fatigue. I read a great book years ago where the best athletes in the world were studied and they found they always look for times to turn it off and then turn it back on. One of the best examples was tennis players that use the ball bounce before a serve to bring down the intensity and then turn it up again in a very long and tiring competition. Very similar to what was mentioned.

    Consistent Feedback is where it’s at .
    I’m not in these guys league when it comes to shooting , but the best thing I ever did was get a Factory Rifle rebarreled and worked on by a reputable Gunsmith.
    Now my setup would make you guys laugh and cringe, but it’s the best I can afford and get at the moment.
    For the first time I am finally at a point of actually believing that the results on paper are my lack of shooting and wind reading ability and not the Gun .
    Your equipment capabilities and consistency take that to the next level .
    I just do it for fun in my Paddock and not for medals, but it does become addictive.

    Can you explain what plan your trying to stick to? Or an example if you don’t want to give away trade secrets. Something to give us the overall picture of a plan going into a relay or match?
    Thanks

    "we don't bring the best shooters, we bring those we like, those that have right attitude, those we can have drinks with" Wow, what a true representation of the current state of the top layer in this sport ... if we can call this a sport when likeability and drinks are a criteria. No wonder Keith Glasscock never fitted in. It sounds more like an old boys club

    • @Palma_Rebel
      @Palma_Rebel 6 місяців тому

      You misunderstood, they wanted to build a team and needed another shooter. Their criteria for their team was someone they would get along with. A dysfunctional team would have never succeeded of the team members didn't get along well. Team shooting 101
