During the intro to the video (an entire minute!) I was thinking, "This will probably be a joke!" and I almost stopped watching. But once the interview started it was really well done. Dr. Carol had good, brief questions, and then let Mr. Latry tell his story. BRAVO!
"...and then **punch** just arrived like this one the first manual..." Well, that's yet another great example of how great carreers were started by an accident. :) Thanks for the trivia, I liked it very much!
Your playing is wonderful. I'm a big fan of the band Yes and the keyboardist Rick Wakeman. Have you heard the organ interlude he plays in their recording of 'Close To The Edge'?
Olivier is probably the finest ORGANIST I have ever witness. He is good and he knows he's good....nothing like his mastery of the PIPE ORGAN.
Thank you for this fabulous interview by the wonderful Carol Williams with the incomparable Olivier Latry.
Thank you, Dr. Carol, for helping me find this video. You're very kind. And a great organist and interviewer!
He played the stops he knew and ignored the stops he didn't know.
I loved his "Flutes and Bombardes."

As a professionally trained organist myself I learnt a load from him
Enjoy Carol's stuff have a great organ recording of her at Blenheim Palace. As to Latry he is an absolute genius.
What great advice he gave I agree with his opinion on theory of what music is.Great video

Il est tres charmant.
Dr. Carol, you are too!

Kiss me, doctor.
What's the intro piece that plays around 25 seconds in?
Certainly an improvisation.
PLEASE DOCTOR Carol, would mind calling upon CAMERON CARPENTER to come to your side on the bench ?
We did ask him once a couple of years ago. He declined.
Thanks a lot for your answer.
Too bad he declined...
Dr. Carol Williams
It wouldn't hurt to ask him again... :-)
I have to say that I am not terribly interested in hearing from a performer who carries his "organ" around with him. Guess I'm a purist.
@J. K. Cameron is the only one to ever decline. Hmm...
