my favorite were definitely the kimono's, I loved the light purple (is it lilac?) and the red one, and found it so funny that you loved them to and bought them at the end of the video. can't wait to one day buy my own kimono they all look so beautiful.🥰👘
Sarah, I'm beyond impressed with your Japanese. Especially your near-instantaneous listening comprehension in a rapid-fire conversation. You're brilliant. At some time I would love to see a video about your acquisition of Japanese. Maybe you did that already and I missed it?
The nice thing about Japanese incense is that it produces very little smoke and the smell doesn't linger for too long. I order a whole bunch every now and then. It also makes for great gifts.
Yes! I converted my husband to the Japanese brands mostly. He loves burning it in the house (no matter how many times I tell him they’re mainly designed for outdoor use) and they make me cough and my eyes water. The Japanese ones don’t give me that strong of a reaction, especially with the windows open lol
Honestly, watching you wander around beautiful Kyoto markets buying trinkets and eating snacks might have been the best part of my day. Who needs meditation?
It's amazing how little that flea market has changed in 30 years. We used to go to Kyoto, from Osaka, quite often, but of course it was an easy day trip. Keep up the good work. I especially enjoy your content as it's more similar to some of the stuff we used to do around Japan
Thank you very much for your posting!投稿ありがとうございます! Your posting has reminded me of Kyoto where I had been to as an elementary school trip (Kyoto & Nara). The season of cherry blossoms in full bloom is coming soon, so please enjoy Hanami (花見🌸)!
We are planning our third trip to Japan at the moment and leaving in a couple of weeks. We found out about this market a few weeks back and as a couple of flea market lovers have been excited to go to the one in April! Your vid has just made us all the more excited! 😁 hoping for good weather 🤞
Thanks for this great overview of the TOJI market-I’m bringing a group from the US to Kyoto in November and plan on taking them there, so this is helpful. 🙏
I'm such a boringly practical person so the only thing I'd buy from what we saw is probably a cutting board since it really is about time I got a new one. Shame about the temple but standing outside something interesting and not being able to enter is something I can relate to. It's been so many times when I'm out travelling that I arrive at a place only to realize that they're closed because it's not the tourist season or I arrived just 15 minutes after they closed for the day. Haven't had the specific "out of cash" experience yet though, most places in Sweden that require an entry fee luckily accepts card payment 🙂
I remember how we made okonomiyaki at the Japanese cooking lesson. There was special square looking cooking tool to handle egg frying. I wonder if those tree samples are Japanese yew. Thank You for Kyoto Traditional Market tour!
Awesome video! Really enjoying the discovery of budget-friendly Japan. - Could you do a video about the production process of your videos ? equipment you are using etc. It looks like you got a very comfy setup for blogging and I would love the inspiration to start creating small-scale again
What a cool flea market - I think I would have spent heaps there! I really liked all the handcrafted items but also enjoy having a good rummage through second hand items. Probably my favourite item would be the vintage kimono, I know I would have spent ages at that stall.
Seera, I loved this video. It spotlights on something that most people don't know about or haven't seen it before. Now I know if I ever get to Kyoto, I need to make sure it is around the 21st of the month.
Wow 😮 Sarah, this is a beautiful market ❤️. It's a shame that you ran out of money 🙈. You got some gorgeous items. I'll definitely put this on my itinerary 🫶♥️
This was very cool! I bet you can find flea markets like this in other parts of Japan, like maybe closer to your home in Tokyo. I would definitely love to see them if you do! I don't think I knew about flea markets like this while I was living there. I probably just didn't know they were held on specific dates if I stumbled across one. I LOVED the little covered shopping street (shotengai) in my little town of Okamachi in Toyonaka when I lived there. It was like walking back in time into Show era Japan. There were lots of little shops that specialized in one thing. There were a few vegetable shops, a fish shop, a butcher, a cake shop. There was a little hobby shop stacked so full of plastic models it was hard to walk around inside. There was a little shop to buy your basic electronic goods There was this little yatai that sold crepes year round and shaved ice in the summer. And there were two supermarkets right across the street from each other. I went to both for specific items, I guess based on price. There were about half a dozen supermarkets within bicycle distance from my apartment I went to for specific things, in fact. It was all part of the fun for me. Thanks for another great video!
I was SO hoping that I would be in Kyoto for this in February or March but I was too late/early and there were no markets while I was in Kyoto a few weeks ago. I wish I had planned my trip better. I was disappointed about the number of tourists in Kyoto - Osaka was less busy, which was surprising from past experience.
Dang, hopefully next time you can plan your trip around these market dates! I was in Kyoto this morning, and it was PACKED! 💦 Definitely not quieting down anytime soon by the looks of things...
I leave for a 2.5 week trip to Japan next week and am bummed that I’ll miss this market! I’m definitely now going to look up market options though, hopefully I’ll be able to make it to one!
Hi Sara, great video. You made it much more interesting than most flea market videos, which are usually silent. You made it a lot more interactive in telling us about the things you saw. Make it longer next time, PLEEEEEZE You can hear you were having fun. Cheers, Muffy from Oz
"I only have about ¥300 left so hopefully I can find something" -Sarah Mizuhiki is exactly ¥300 😄 I definitely can't wait to explore Kyoto again. Love me a Japanese market ❤️
Wow. I am so bummed I couldn't fit this market into my itinerary--it looks like so much fun and inexpensive. Would love to see more markets in Japan. I could easily build a trip around just flea markets.
Flea market is a great tip for the local feels! I noticed you ate veg food, do you have any tips on how a vegetarian first timer can enjoy food in Japan? 🙈
I hope you can go to the Osaka Shitennoji one someday! It's also on the 21st and 22nd of each month and equally huge and nice AND you can go into all of the parts of the temple for free. I got some amazing kokeshi and our house's tanuki statue there. Ohatsu Tenjin has one on the first Friday of the month as well.
i want to go to japan so bad and stay 15 days and would love to go to a swap meet i use to go a lot with my grandma i miss her love ur videos so cool thanks
Looks like pine branches. Isn´t there something about it being for luck/good fortune? I don´t know if you decorate the home or cook it or something? :)
@@seerasan great! Thanks for your video, I’m planning to go to sapporo in the next November and continue the journey to Tokyo Kyoto Osaka, your video is our reference! thank you so much

Does this market open everyday?
I love seeing markets like this. Please show more. Thank you!
Same

I always see lots of Japanese school students on trips in Nara! Sounds like a lovely memory ☺️🫎
That looks like tons of fun thanks for sharing! The kimonos were my favorite.
Yeah, they can be touristy, but, local markets are so much fun. It's like a "free" museum if you don't buy a ton of stuff.
I love this flea market! Just booked a trip over to Japan and this is one of my stops
Yes!!! Have a good time 🙌😆
do not care if went over budget. you go something make you happy and inspire you to do greatness
That was so interesting. Would love more market videos. Thank you.
Loved this market but the one at the Kitano Tenmangū Shrine was our favourite. 😅

Loved your new necklace. Kimonos were beautiful. 😊
Some excellent things you found in the market
Loved the market and looking forward to more.
I loved the cute lucky cats. I'd definitely be buying those.

まったく何を言っているのか英語はわからないけど早口でテンポが良くて時々日本語が上手で尊敬します!❤

A secondhand book market in Kyoto is a plot point in Tatami Galaxy, the book at least, haven't seen the movie. The okonomiyaki looks good, nice video!

Yay thank you for noticing 😝 so hyped!! 🎉🎉
That autumn kimono jacket 👘🍂😻
Went to that temple twice, never saw the market (wasn't at the right dates). Really cool!
I LOVE FLEAS
Wow 😮 Sarah, this is a beautiful market ❤️. It's a shame that you ran out of money 🙈. You got some gorgeous items. I'll definitely put this on my itinerary 🫶♥️

I have heard usually Toji Temple hold a smaller antique market towards the beginning of the month, if that is of interest
Wow, wonderful travel in Kyoto. Enjoy, friend.

Flea market is a great tip for the local feels! I noticed you ate veg food, do you have any tips on how a vegetarian first timer can enjoy food in Japan? 🙈
You should do a Q&A vlog sometime 🤓
I wanna do one once I hit 50k subs 😆
Would love to see more markets
Fun, I'd like to hear you explain some more detail of the dishes you're eating

東寺の骨董市、何時か訪れてみたいです!!
I bought a little metal turtle keychain here ☺️💕
What day or days does this event occur? I really enjoy your real life vlogs.
Looks like pine branches. Isn´t there something about it being for luck/good fortune? I don´t know if you decorate the home or cook it or something? :)
Why no seafood & pork in the okonomiyaki? That's where the flavor is 😋
Awesome video. I’m in Okinawa for 5 days with my wife, any hot tips for cool markets like that over here in Okinawa?
I think the branches at 7:53 are from pine trees. They look a lot like pine needles.
Ninja stars... what strange gangsters they have
How do you make sure stuff is truly handmade ? That labor makes it worth the cost.
Hello), can you tell me if the market is open only on the 21st or 22nd too?
I visited Higashi Hongan-ji Temple when I was in Kyoto and it had a small market outside I don't know if it is a regular thing or I got lucky.
Why are they selling weapons, e.g. shurikens (0:07) at a flea market?
😍
what camera do you use?
This was the Sony ZV1!
@@seerasan great! Thanks for your video, I’m planning to go to sapporo in the next November and continue the journey to Tokyo Kyoto Osaka, your video is our reference! thank you so much
Can I get by at this market only speaking English?
Samurai Swords?
you don't eat seafood or pork?
lol why did you set a budget?
観光地で大判焼きが二百円かあ。割と安いなあ。給料も上がらないけど物価も上がら無いんだな。
Whatta beautiful eyes you have
