She laughed again, He flinched. "Thats not all, somehow you also managed to turn all of my friends against me, they started believing in the idea of peace, of ending all the wars." He saw her neckless flash in the sun, the crimson light blinding him for a moment. He turned away, unable to listen any more. He felt her hands grab his collar, "no.." she was shaking, her breaths coming rapidly. "I'm not letting you go, im.. going.. to.. kill.. you..." She dragged the words out. Her eyes were filled with murderous intent, he froze. She smiled wickedly like she had an idea. "No..." She whispered, "I have a better idea," Scarlet paused momentarily, he watched her pull a knife from her pocket. She raised her arm then slowly moved the blade slowly towards his face, stopping only centimeters from his eye. "Maybe I should blind you, so you can be trapped in unlimited suffering, you'd be in darkness." She moved it closer, as if trying to taunt him. He looked at her calmly, all his fears vanishing in a single moment. "Do what you wish to me. But just so you know.." His eyes flashed dangerously. "If you hurt my friends again, I doesnt matter if I'm gone, I'll find you, and you'll experience pain of which you could never dream of," he said quietly, she looked at him furiously. "WAS THAT A THREAT JOEL!?" she shrieked, losing her last shred of self control. "THATS IT! YOU'RE DONE!" He saw her arm come down. He felt Pain, blood, sadness, fury and deception. 'I'm sorry guys...' he thought. Images flashed in his mind, memories, they were fading slowly. The pain disappeared slowly as he fell deeper.... falling.. darkness.. nothing... “How is he Eric?” it was a girl's voice, she sounded worried. “He’s had severe damage to his eyes, I managed to save the left one, but I’m not so sure about the right, I doubt he’ll ever be able to see from that eye again. Other than that, he has some minor injuries that should heal in time.” It was an older sounding man, Joel continued to listen as he comforted the girl. Neither of them sounded very dangerous. 'Where am I?' He wondered. He started to feel his surroundings, he was on a bed, definitely, with blankets on him. He could feel something covering his right eye, as well as other bandages covering his arms and legs. 'What happened? The last thing I remember was scarlet attacking me after the building collapsed, how did these people find me? Who are they?' He opened his left eye slowly, there was a mixture of blurry lights, he winced as he tried to lift his head. “C'mon Joel, you’ve got to get out of here.” He whispered aloud. He looked to the side to see if the people were still there. They were gone. Slowly, he heaved himself to a sitting position. Dizziness washed over him as he struggled to stay conscious. Images of his friends flickered through his mind. 'Rachel, Harvey, Kaia, Cana, sophie…' the names echoed through his head, filling him determination. Grabbing onto the nearby bookshelf, Joel pushed himself off the bed. His arms nearly gave way as he tried to support himself, he started to panic as he gripped on to the wood for dear life. 'Jeez, pull yourself together, you can do this.' Aiming for the door, he began to half-drag his body, his legs feeling like they weighed 100 pounds. It only took a few small steps before Joel stopped suddenly, he had reached the end of the bookshelf, bare wall seeming to stretch out for miles before him. He sighed. 'Well what do I do now?' He decided to risk it, he slid his foot over a couple inches, extending his arm, he prepared to grasp the corner that would direct him to the doorway. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” a voice sounded from across the room.
