This song is a testament that we truly never know what someone is going through mentally. Justin struggled mentally basically his entire childhood and adolescents, and all people did was judge him while he cried for help. Thank you God.. for giving him the strength to not only carry on, but for allowing his to be a testament of what faith can do to carry you through your burdens. This song reminds me of my father who passed away last week. I'm living here in Australia and my family is in the Philippines. I can't go home because of the current situation. I went to the beach alone and just looked into the sea breeze, just trying to be strong since I am alone here in Australia and I can't go home to see my father. Just when i sitted, the spotify song switched to this song "Lonely". I couldn't hinder myself but cry, thinking about my father, thinking about how he passed away so sudden. I couldn't help but regret why I wasn't able to tell him I love him even before he passed. I don't even remember when was the last time I called him. My tears where flowing and I keep thinking about my memories with my father. I wish he could have seen me to be more successful in life and be stable. I wish he could have attended to my future wedding and see his future grandkids. I wish he know that I love him. Papa, I'm sorry and thank you for everything. I wish I was there with my family now to grieve with them. Now I feel so lonely being here in Australia, being away from family. Why did it happen now? Why now? There are really regrets, I wish I could have been a good daughter when he was alive. I wish I have told him I love him.

this is so beautiful. i think this song shows Justin's grieving process over his highs and lows as a teenager in the spotlight. we are all so grateful as fans to see his raw emotions come through in this song. it so angry and painful and true revelation of how he felt going through the motions of stardom. but there's also hope in "maybe it all calm down". his unrelenting hope and faith in God and in himself is truly being shared with this ballad. he is giving us all of himself with this song--something so terrifying. there is so much more i could say...this song is a complete expose on himself that he is 1000% confident in. i love it.
