the first one. cant add much to your review here, i finished the game yesterday and the biggest drawback is indeed the story itself and the writing, escpecially the writing of the dialogues. they are in many cases needlessly stretched out, i hated it. soo often the game is taken away from you. veeeeery dull shot reverse shot scenes. later in the game, i was afraid, that another cutscene may pop up every second. i played all of the game of the trilogy, but the last on definitly has the worst story (and dialogues)
I love all the tomb raider games for what they are including the indiana jones trilogy from the early 80's in my opinion and it's facts to that both indiana jones and tomb raider are 1000 times better than uncharted
@@robs_garage0278 That's a lot of times! What about Tomb Raider makes it so superior to Uncharted in your mind? Thanks for the comment and for checking out the video!
@@capn_sarge mainly cause indiana jones and tomb raider are superior in there own way and have a long record of time and memorys Indiana jones has been around for over 40 years and tomb raider has been around for almost 30 years and the reason why i dislike uncharted so damn much cause too me it's just a modern wanna be tomb raider knock off
I have played all three in order and me and my mom (yes, we play together) have gone through the first one with barely any break because we loved them, have gotten most of the collectibles in the first two as well, but the third one we've stopped playing after the first kind of village where you have to get information. (You know, the one where you have to basically just walk for ten minutes.) Because we were bored at that point. I started playing it again about a week ago, and the thing I enjoyed most was basically just running around and getting the collectibles, since I'm lucky enough to be able to turn off my brain and just collect. But even there, the story wasn't interesting at all, I just got them for the skill points and cause I enjoy it. The fighting wasn't that enjoyable for me most of the time, either too easy or too hard, and the stealth options felt.. just plain bad. The story felt boring to me, and yeah, the jumping was hell, especially cause the controller I have is broken and so Lara would randomly jump left and I'd miss jumps (there was a literal tomb that made me rage quit cause Lara wouldn't jump right.. yeahhhhh-) Anyways, my favorite will always be the 2013 one. Also this video made me want to play uncharted, the first time I somewhat "played" it I was literally less than ten years old. (I didn't really play that much, basically watched my brother play it and if I was lucky he'd pass me the controller lol) I know I talked a lot but your review was pretty spot on in my opinion!
I don't think tomb raider semi open world is bloted,. It can be linier exp depends on your own play style or you can explore and do side quest.. If you ask me i don't considerd shadow of the tomb raider and the rise of the tomb raider as open world game, they follow the design scale structure size environment of the darksoul game that you can back track anytime you want without jumping from one place to another.. Same goes to god of war ps4 approach in terms of size of the world,.
I definitely see what you're saying and agree the term "open world" is a matter of semantics for these types of games. It's not super easy for some people to ignore side content and I am one of those people, so to me a game is bloated if there's more stuff to do than I feel engaged to do. While This game wasn't as bad as the second Tomb Raider, that's kind of where I was coming from. Thanks for checking out the video!
I don't really consider cost to hours when it comes to value. I personally value the experience, and this game just wasn't the greatest experience. Thanks for checking out the review!
@@capn_sarge fair enough, anyways got it for free with ps plus this month and beat it in a weekend. If anyone asked me i'd say dont pay more than $20, rip through the story and enjoy the fast pace, dont bother with side quests, collectibles ect. Also I found the combat on the regular mode laughable easy, that was disappointing.
Btw this is one of the laziest review I have ever listened to. The story is based on real lore and is epic. You also need to play Rise to truly appreciate what is going on also a little knowledge about the mayans and incans will help you appreciate the game even more. This is not fast and furious but something with substance. Shame on you and your piss poor attempt to discredit this game.
I guess if you need a history degree truly appreciate the game it isn't the game for me! I wasn't trying to discredit the game though, just give my opinions on the experience I had. Believe it or not people enjoy different things. I'm sorry we disagree, but appreciate you checking out the review!
Did you know you can allow the npc's to talk in their native tongue??? No offense but if you had trouble with the platforming you should not review games or criticize a game because you are a beginner. You should avoid all ori games because you will choose to use a keyboard and mouse and fail big time with the gameplay during cinematics. Hell you will even get lost. Dont try to be something you are not. And you should be playing the game at 1440p-4k/60 fps+ max settings with hdr then judge pc graphics.
I admit I didn't know about the native tonge option. I didn't have trouble with the platforming because I'm bad at video games, I've played through both Ori's, Celeste and many other similar games just fine. Like I said in the video, the "platforming" in this game is extremely on rails. Laura not grabbing a ledge I was jumping to is a game issue, not a me issue, hence why I mentioned it. Also I did play on max settings 1440p. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
@@capn_sarge I'm currently playing it thru again and I love it!.. probably my 3rd or 4th time replaying and came across more tombs to explore. I don't mind the sometimes not grabbing a ledge, I have rolled my eyes few times when falling to Lara's death lol there is a skill to actually grab ledges more accurately haha! I don't even use the skill point to grab ledges, feels more of a surprise it adds something more of a fear factor and feel more real. And come on Keyboards are for typing controller is for gaming especially for theses types of game you ain't playing Fortnite ahaa.

Thanks for the comment! That's awesome you and your mom have a hobby you can share. Definitely check out uncharted if you enjoyed the tomb raiders!
My favorite is Rise, cant wait for the 4th one!
Have they announced a fourth game? Thanks for checking out the video!
The sound glitch has nothing to do with the graphic quality
good, honest review! keep up the good work. if you haven't, can you review either Evil Within 1 or Evil Within 2?
Thanks! You're not the first to suggest those games...maybe I'll have to start playing through them on Twitch!
I would go back tomb raider 2013 if the cut scenes' was all fixed
I think rise was good both were good in their on way
They definitely both have slightly different focuses for sure as far as what they're trying to accomplish overall. Thanks for checking out the video!

That's fair. I thought some of the side tombs were interesting but I'm glad they toned down the sheer amount of random side stuff from the second game
