@@donavonhornbeck For me, my Amazfit Bip is ideal because I don't have to take the 'phone with me - instead I take an old school, lightweight MP3 player (remember those?). That's why I junked an Amazfit Bip Lite I bought (no internal GPS). Having music control is not a selling point for me, although I do understand why it is for some.
Thanks for a review. I have first BIP and after seeing it, I decided to buy a BIP S. More black background is the real deal for me and new UI is awesome too lightweight easy-to-use has everything I need
Thank you, this was a great comparison. After seeing the new Bip U and having and loving the original bip, I think I'm getting a Bip s next. They're completely destroyed the latest bip u, 7 days battery and no always on sceen. What a disaster.
Thanks for the comparison and features explanation. Less than a month in and charged it twice, so similar battery life experience. Unfortunately bp readings vary at times and are lower. Did a comparison with an arm cuff bp machine. Bip s was same or lower, so a concern when exercising and you feel it's a good workout but bp display is lower so don't collect accurate PAI's. Also clasp original wrist band blew open after 2 weeks. That wasn't a very sturdy design. Do like the quick release from bezel. Probably need to buy extras online as retailers with Samsung straps are pricey.
Great. Only other minor differences I found are editable watchfaces and build quality: more polycarbonate body (?), differently processed strap, button. Not sure how noticeable is that. I also wonder whether sleep tracking got better. Properly measuring “awake time” in the middle of the night, start/stop sleep times. Sometimes when my awake time was several hours the sleep would split into 2 on the old Bip. It would only show let’s say 4AM to 7AM as my whole sleep in app. My current Honor Band 5 measures all this perfectly and never splits sleep which is interesting. They market it as TruSleep technology in collaboration with some lab.
I think you should upgrade the watch firmware, mine have already got 10 sports exercise. Oh yeah, 1 question, have you tried the sleep tracking accuracy in this watch? Thanks 🙏
I have the original and love it! Lasts me 3 weeks-month per charge! I used to have some connectivity problems with the app but I think they fixed those in a software update. I wouldn't upgrade unless you're huge on fitness tracking accuracy I suppose.
@@donavonhornbeck sir ,gps in amazefit s is really work well or its just like other bands who have heart rate moniter but does not shows reading properly.
I narrowed down my watch choice to black/white/orange BIP S and Huawei Watch GT2e in mint green. GT2e costs ~ double, but does everything well. With BIP, my concern is over inferior sleep tracking and crashing GPS.
Lol... agreed. That one isn’t available here in the US yet. We seem to get Amazfit watches well after they they are released to other parts of the world. I’m not sure why?
Original had 4.0 bluetooth and Bip S has 5.0 bluetooth. Thats okay but how come 4.0 is less superior than 5.0 when compared in performance. As per the update from Bluetooth Inc. there are no such performance improvement, the few improvement are High resolution audio, consumes less energy, supported multiple bluetooth profile (more than 4.0). So the range and performance is same as 4.0. High resolution audio or data only supposed to be supported by specific device with correct bluetooth profile. So this is completely a myth that if you have 5.0 bluetooth that means you have superior bluetooth hardware in your device.
Donovan, I'm thinking of upgrading from my Bip. Could you drill down a bit more into the GPS accuracy vs the original Bip? Things I like to see would be a side by side route comparison, and the main thing I'd like to know is when you export the GPX file out of the tethering app (ZEPP), and open it up in NotePad, does the Bip S record a GPS point every second, or does it not? The Stratos range of watches DO NOT record a GPS point every second even though they are supposed to, making them pretty inaccurate on some GPS reliant activities. I'm using my Bip almost more now in trail runs than my Stratos 3 for that very reason. Could you confirm the per second GPS polling in the GPX maybe?
Does either one of them have a double tap feature to wake up the screen or are you forced to push the button or twist your wrist? I like the looks of the S but wondered about the tap feature. Thanks.
Can u help me with this.. Can u try pairing the bip s with MI Fit App? I have 2 year's of Activities Recorded in MI Fit app. Don't wanna go to Amazefit app..
This variant will be available on their US website next week I believe, though the date hasn’t been officially released yet. As for the PAI score, that is because of all the running I do. I’m currently training for a marathon (assuming races eventually happen).
It is $80 on most the Chinese websites. I’ve heard rumors that range between $70 and $90 for the Bip S. I do think this is replacing the original Bip eventually, but they are selling both for now.
I have the original Bip. Any new software updates available now that they have the S ? Also, I only use it for my distance running. I want to find a way to just have it display Pace on the watch face while running. Then next screen would be Distance. It would be way easier to view while running. All my previous GPS running watches had these features. Any ideas. Thanks for your reviews.
I had original Bip and Honor Band 5. My feeling is Honor Band 5 gives too many steps. It also doesn’t have GPS. But the sleep tracking on Honor is excellent, while Bip is not. Bip has much better battery life and I also prefer Bip’s display. I’d choose Bip S.
Absolutely. Just finished up a 5th day with it, and it’s been consistent for all 5 days so far. When I make a lot of turns it is .01 of a mile off from my Apple Watch, but on a mile with no turns at all it stays dead on with the Apple Watch. Heart rate has also been spot on.
I watched over 40+ videos on smartwatch and this is the best clear and informative video. Good work
That’s some pretty high praise. Thank you for watching, and glad to help.
Don’t forget that they also added music control, for me it’s major :D
Yep, I completely forgot that. That was a pretty big miss on my part.
@@donavonhornbeck I don't know why mine volume controls aren't working!!!

I actually read somewhere you can unlock a music player on the original Bip
I put bip os on my amazfit hip now I don't have to worry about a music controller no more.

Huawei's sleep tracking is excellent. Blood oxygen sensor also
Is it still worth upgrading ? Or there is a better alternative at the same price scale ?
Maybe it's your Apple Watch that is not accurate, never had GPS performance issues when compared to measured courses and Garmin.
The amazfit ares is the actual upgrade worth getting, once you have a manly enough wrist to wear it without looking ridiculous

What about compass & barometer?
Could you please tell me the name of the download app,???

Huawei band 4 Pro as you get GPS and huawei's much superior sleep tracking as well as a blood oxygen sensor.
