Pretty much every Tough Crowd episode you can tell Patrice only cares about making Colin laugh. It’s very sweet.

Andrew Shultz fought off the whole cancel culture thing when he put out his special himself because, I think it was Netflix wanted to cut out the "offensive stuff". Like I'm not going to tone it down these are jokes!

Goddamnit, I miss Tough Crowd. Everyone came in with venom all the time, especially Patrice. Him giving that blonde photographer his trademark attitude and calling Judy Gold a giant lesbian off the cuff is fucking gold. Giraldo was a beast too. RIP to these soldiers.

@@andrewryan2814 Lol I've listened to that whole show. And none of it implies that Patrice went around trying to crack codes and play mind games. What he did was use his charisma to flirt, tease, and sometimes insult girls in a way that was organic. See, mind games implies that they're trying to engineer a situation, whereas Patrice was socially skilled enough that it was natural, not exactly manipulative. Now, he would break down the dynamics on the show, but it's not like he was thinking that all out in the moment.
      It was still essentially flirting.

Tl;DR I'd love some shit like this to comeback but there were alot of reasons why it worked then and not now
I feel like the US would need another war with some country they can demonize on TV before they could make a show like this come back. When there's no "foreign threat" it's harder to swallow controversial topics bc nowadays the media only has identity politics to bicker over which intensifies PC culture. War on terror was pretty much a success and now America is eating itself apart bc of its hegemony hubris. Now American values and practices are under a microscope worldwide so theres this puppet show that needs to be upheld for western economics. When there's troops overseas there's always unanimous support of the soldiers on both sides which creates a bipartisan Milieu and props up nationalism. Whenever Americans are kicking ass again there's like a subconcious shift where the dialogue is American exceptionalism against tyranny therefore it's funny to make fun of "others". Internet tech boom is mostly from leftist origins and it translates into the business of all the inclusiveness. Americans just need to understand this PC culture didn't come out of nowhere and there were big mistakes made when it wasn't a big deal.
