I appreciate the kind words of encouragement. Please stay watching - Dennis
Wow, cool I have this reel!
Already bought a new drag washer, grease etc.
Thanks Dennis 👍
Dennis, thanks again. I've been working on Abu baitcasters, Penn conventional reels along with a few Daiwa's, Okumas and a handful of the old Mitchell conventional reels still running around for myself and friends for a long time. I've been paranoid about working on spinning reels, low profile baitcasters and most anything left handed. You're getting me past those fears and I'm finding I can mostly get them apart and back together again. Spinning reels and lefties are a must for me now that my grandson has started to fish and he's left handed so the handle must be on the wrong side of the reel.
Thanks for the note Ward. You can DIY with a little practice and patience. At the end of it all, it is just one big gear turning a smaller one to retrieve line regardless of the format of the reel. Take pictures and get the schematics and you have the key to them all. Best wishes - Dennis
You make it look easy!
Thank you. I try to take the intimidation factor out of the work so that you dan DIY. Thanks for the note - Dennis
I have two of these reels and need to do this. I also need new antireverse bearings, do you know where to get those or the numbers for them?
Try direct with Shimano at Fishshimano.com or with southwersternparts.com that company carries Shimano parts - Dennis
Where did you get the little tool from to remove the bearing on the shaft? I have been struggling to find one, mainly because I don't know what it is officially called.
Is it just me but it looked like you didn’t place the two springs back in when you closed the side plate up
If you look at the frame at 23:01 you will see the springs on the posts - Thanks for watching - Dennis
Wish I could get my hands on a lefty model. Without paying a ridiculous price.
Lefty low profile bait casters are more readily available than the saltwater conventional counterparts. You are right, there s a premium on those, especially in the used market
Why don't you test and flush ball bearings before you oil them?
I test the reels prior to disassembly. If the bearings are smooth, I just oil them. If there is any noise or sign of wear I generally order the replacement and include that in the video.
Thanks for asking - Dennis
Worked great. My CU-201 was screeching and after the cleaning works like brand new
Glad to hear it. Thanks for the note and for watching - Dennis
