It really does show how people come together when something like that people coming from different communities around the flooding they show that there is still in our country
Than you so much to all the emergency response officers as well as the people using their boats and tractors to evacuate families . The almighty God protects and keep your families safe .
and nobody is talking about the cause of this... the mass deforestation and clear cutting fosters more flooding... this will only get worse unless we make a massive change....
Merrit British Columbia a town of around 7000 east of Vancouver was evacuated, 250 people had to be rescued by military helicopters east of Vancouver BC when two ends of a highway by Harrison lake where washed out , it is believed some vehicles went down the embankment as others claimed they saw lights going down
The weather channel says it does happen like this from time to time. Not the first time, but our population has grown and more are affected. We should not be building on floodplains.
I always felt like those trees were going to fall on the road. I have family in Bham who don't understand why I would rather drive up from Seattle on Highway 9, and enter along the west side of Lake Whatcom.
"People helping other people" is going to do this? You government bashers live in a fantasy world. Local heroes can help but "the government" is running 99% of the rescue and cleaning up the mess. Always do. How else would it get done? A huge organized volunteer squad magically shows up with all the necessary training, communication, shelters, rescue teams and heavy equipment? No.
Not exactly. An example of good government is the flood wall that prevented a disaster in downtown Mount Vernon. That was my tax dollars at work. Better to have government work to prevent a disaster than have people left to help each other afterwards.
Usage of natural gas is rather limited with no ventilation fan for your stove or blowers for your furnace to operate. You'll have hot water, but practically, that's about it unless you've got a natural gas powered barbecue on your patio.
Didn't see any report of pets getting rescued and didn't see photos of them being rescued. Are they left behind in those house or what? I hope they are being rescued and safe too.🙏

There are clear cuts of whole mountainsides right above this slide
Yes no one talking about the indiscriminate building and clear cutting up here in the PNW
Is this where the "waterfalls" are, too? I was on this road last night and one of them was almost pouring into the road. It was so so loud.

That has nothing to do with it here
Yes...
It's called it has been raining non stop for a week basically. Floods happen when it rains like this 🙃

You send prayers? I feel foolish.. all I ever send is money.
Heartbreaking...
THANK YOU TED
The pics with the torrential rain in the background should be the pic of the day in Western Washington
That exactly what should happen. People helping other people not the government.
But my taxes?
Why not both?

Those are chopped down trees -- we need to stop clear cutting.
Erm? What are you talking about. They were blown down across the freeway and then they were cut….
I live in everson and we are in same shape as Sumas
Power is out….Natural Gas is ON.
We need all our energy supplies and we don't need gov't to restrict them.

I hope the rescue workers had equal representation.
Well we're okay in Tacoma
K? Up in Bellingham we aren’t.
