Don't worry about or feed the trolls bro. Don't be hard on yourself about pronouncing units or town names, normal people know what unit or settlement you are talking about. Grammar nazis can go watch the history channel and read dictionaries. Keep on keeping on bro. Great vid.

Hi Stevelongshanks here as I am known in total war. I like your start to the new Spartan campaign clearly the centre is the area to control. I have started this campaign too in the same way but have found I am being invaded from the east to my Spartan homeland fortunately I have reserve army there, but I have to say the AI is quite clever. I look forward to seeing your next instalment.
Can I just say, I don't care how Warrior pronounces a word, and no one should get mad about it. It doesn't matter, all that does is how good he is, and he's doing awesome. Thanks for the great content! :)

I think razing is the thing to do, gives a lot of conquest penalty, but that's just for one turn. After that, all you've got is -5 provincial instability, instead of -20 when occupying.

Dont forget your Champion on his little boat, south of Zakynthos.
If you want to get technical it's not pronounced as "hop-light" either, that's the anglicized pronunciation.
Proper way to pronounce it is "hop-li-taze", or "hop-li-tees"
Jus' think about well-known greek names like Socrates or Euripides and try to emulate that when you pronounce it.
Most people pronounce it wrong (as evidenced by peoples overwhelming insistence on the anglicized pronunciation in the last video..), so don't worry too much about it. Nobody will really dig on you if you use the anglicized version, but it's still not the proper pronunciation.

+djEvisceration 1 this lets play is 2 years old and 2 > the game has drastically improved since 1 year ago when it had tons of glitches and was bad overall. I started playing Rome 2 a couple of days ago. Ive asked other players and they said the game is a lot better than what it was a year ago. and trust me i did reviews too and i saw how bad the game was so i didnt even bother with it but now it seems that it is playable and enjoyable so good luck and have fun on your conquest! TO WAR!
Hey WoS. Just wanted to mention that all of the helmet types are of Greek origin, the helmets you specifically refer to as "Greek" or "Greco" are actually Corinthian helmets, which Spartans would have had access to due to their alliance.

Here's a glorious Idea, start a custom battle campaign, with Sparta, against the Persians, aided by the Athenian's, Corinthian's, and Boeotian League, a desperate last stand, with unexpected help from the North.

The Greek thing to do is to occupy, but I am all for razing a few latter or if the bonus is large.

I have a bug ingame, Two actually.
the first one is that i can't recruit units(I can hire tho).
The second one is that all units don't have names displayed.

I had that bug too and all I did was restart the game and take all mods

What is the difference between Occupy, Loot and Raze?
I'm playing on the same difficulty and my for whatever reason it feels incredibly unbalanced at times a couple of my spartan units were almost wiped out in melee combat against a couple enemy archer units.

Hey wow is it able to do the battle of 300 that Spartans have their hoplites wall to push away the Persian army
Well it will have to be a multiplayer match, coz there were a lot of other citystates helping lionidas, there were actually 300 spartans 400 kornithians and like 700 from another ally, in total there were around 4000 hoplites from around 21 states.
300 spartans, about 3000 peloponessians (korinth, messenia, ecc...), some thebans and acadians, about 5200 greeks total vs something between 20,000 and 70,000 (it is not known how many engaged in actual combat, and how many remained in garrison)

Can somebody with good knowledge on Greek history explain to me why a lot of the hoplites units don't wear sandals in this game. Didn't the hoplites get their names from the shoes they wear?
Dylan Ming Wei Ting I take it you're joking? The hoplite name does not come from their footwear. But arguably the hoplon, their shield or the competing theory that it refers to the weapon outfit as a whole.

why do you always move your men out in phalanx instead of simply putting them into formation when you need it, the phalanx will make your men slow and tire them.

Because it has lesser of a hit on public order in the long term, I know it's probably not the normal thing to do but this campaign makes it harder to move your army on if you just occupy them
perhaps but I think we all forget that you can lower tax rate below normal and in the long run its more beneficial your cities grow quicker
i really hate that they removed the shoes!! i just can not play this game after that. 880 hours gameplay right in the toilet!

I don't like the look of the Spartan hoplites, I feel like they all need to have Corinthian helmets. Would be more bad ass!!!!
You guys do realize certain universities teach ANCIENT Latin and Greek, they are not acually lost, it's just not the dominant languages. Science names are Ancient Greek and Latin. And if you say I learn their language I will assume the modern language may the ancient ones. History channel and documentaries would drive grammer nazis crazy.

In Greek, Hoplites are pronounced Op-lee-tes (no h and no "ai"), so ignorant trolls stop trying to make him pronounce it as if it were English.
Hop lite is the English way, but hop lay tay is the Greek way
