Although Hachimura is absent, this is the best squad that Japan has put together, with talented and confident players like Baba, Watanabe, Togashi, Hiejima, Hawkinson or Kawamura, and everyone is believing in their coach and system. Ironically, the country who has the battle cry "PUSO(heart)", lost some heart and mind through the years. Japan deserved to be the top team in Asia. What's interesting is that japan is REEEEALLY strong at volleyball and it's at the top for a long so their lack of influence on basketball might be more of a lack of culture (vball is much less physical, i know, but i feel the fact you cant bother your opponent when they block or spike make it worse than bball in a way, you can just watch and count on timing)

It's striking how the narrative seemed to dictate that Japan must win against Cape Verde at any cost. Throughout the game, it became increasingly evident that the referees were consistently making calls against Cape Verde. The frequency and apparent bias of these decisions were even alarming. Fair play and sportsmanship should always be at the forefront in any competition, and it's essential for the integrity of the game that officials maintain impartiality. Fair and unbiased officiating is essential to ensure that the game is played on a level playing field, regardless of the teams involved.
