@GTS Precisely, the acumulation of this high demanding matches, specially when you are close or in your 30´S takes a toll and at some point the body just says BASTA! So surely it was something that had been lingering in his body and it just snapped at that point and with this beast of a match.

Such a great match, and high, high quality highlights! Personally speaking, there’s not a real need for mood music here. The sound off these guys’ rackets is music enough!

Thomas Rebotier Murray was the attacker in 2016 which I guess is why he won and being stronger at that point

Wawrinka and Safin are the only players other than Murray to win multiple slams in the Nadal, Djokovic and Federer era.

Murray, surly, talks about how badly he played. Wawrinka, classy, talks about what a good player he beat. I love Wawrinka's game. It is absolute pure tennis. What a backhand. It makes the top players crazy. There is no answer. Murray is a bore by comparison.

Murray may not really rival the big 3 in most areas but for me he has undoubtedly the best lobbing skills of anyone who ever played tennis

Murray's movement, backhand, return and hands were big 3 level.

Hi, RG. FYI: even when I re-watch a movie for an umpteenth time, I don't want a summary of every scene BEFORE the scent starts. Kind of kills the buzz.
p.s. obviously murray had the better career of these 2. but murray's 3 majors were a reward for his steadiness. he played at very high level long enough for the stars to align 3 times. total Big 3 wins in his 3 majors: 2, both times against a tired Novak.
Stan's Big 3 wins in his 3 majors: 5, including what might be the 2nd most impressive task in all of tennis, beating prime Novak at the '14 AO.
both earned/deserved their majors: murray as a "career achievement" reward for all those beatings he suffered at the hands of the Big 3, and Stan for "best performance" 3 times on the biggest stage.
