In the documentary pearl jam 20, they said this was one of their worst concerts, they were completely drunk, didn't play at the same time, Eddie fell down...
Thanks... Will look for the documentary. Read Chris Cornell's Documentary 20 recently. Before he passed away Watched his last performance on UA-cam... he was SO messed up. Catch his wife, Vicky's interview right after he died. So sad
if you practice as a band enough, being trashed when you play a set is just more fun haha:) someone might miss a note or a part sometimes but you fix it real fast and then laugh cause like 4 out of 100 people noticed, they rock this shit.
Abruzzese WAS the best they ever had, McMelty is ALWAYS killin it & Stoney should've never cut his hair....just my thoughts lol. Love drunk Eddie, whatta handful he was!
perfect just PERFECT choruses. Hits all them hard notes. Nowadays age has caught up with them. Eddie's humble as fuck now. All of his anger, rebellious spirit just gone.
If we can believe Kim Neely, the live vocals were too full of profanities and a large portion of it was replaced by punch-ins from the studio version by producer Brendan O'Brien.
Dude he was going thru it and it came thru the music. Now he has finally met a good woman who loves him and he has children. he has found peace. you should be happy for him not whining about 30 years passing. ppl evolve. just keep watching performances from this era. problem solved
One of the messiest, barely held together, most emotionally resonant songs ever recorded by any band, ever. I have no idea what he is saying, but I know exactly what he mean.
Love the shitty video quality reminiscent of the times & crowd surfing. I was 9 in 92 I'm now 36 waiting on my release date on my first and last short bid. God bless to all out there 2020
As far as I know Pearl Jam only did two songs and then did a handful of stuff with Alice In Chains as well. Nobody was on task that night. Cameron Crowe did an article a few years back for Rolling Stone talking aboout the night in question.
Nobody wanted to be there... They all respected Cameron being from Seattle and giving them parts in the movie Singles, but they thought this was crap... The saw it as an attempt to shake the MTV and Viacom corporate suits. Their "punk" has ostensibly kicked in.
Find the unedited, unremastered version of this, it’s great. Ed’s so drunk he can’t stand up, he gets in fights with a bunch of people, drops a shitload of F bombs and rips down half the stage dressing on the side of the stage. Bad day at the office all around.
Their sound was much heavier or more aggressive with DK and then DA drumming - makes sense as they were younger and it matched the personality of those drummers. BUT PJ was heavily criticized for not keeping time well at live shows. If memory serves correct, that criticism ceased around ‘94 when Jack Irons joined
I hate how mtv edited alot of parts of this in post production cuz they were drunk lol you can clearly hear where they switch out some audio at parts haha!
The notorious show that turned McReady into an alcoholic (according to him, that is...) Hysterical show. They were such an aabsolute drunken mess. Love them still to this day
Eddie didn't even sing for most of the back half of the song. He was too drunk, was swearing profusely, and was just all over the place. I think Brendan O'Brien ended up dubbing the studio recording over the live show's video.
thanks for addressing this ! I've heard the unedited raw version and except for Dave they are all a mess. Hopefully because DA kept the tempo almost like the studio version Brendan fixed it in post production and he did a hell of. job
I think they only played like two or three songs... Alice in Chains didn't fare any better themselves and Soundgarden allegedly just flat out refused to attend.
I hate every drummer ever born, I hate them with every fibre of my body. 'I know, the guitarist wants this bpm, but if I play it twice the speed then it'll be even rockier, YEAH!! IM GREAT!!
The notorious show that turned McReady into an alcoholic (according to him, that is...) Hysterical show. They were such an aabsolute drunken mess. Love them still to this day
Dave was the best drummer they've had...
They had Spinal Tap like drummer issues.
Hands down, the best!
Agreed
Definitely not. Their have a master drummer now that is Matt Cameron. Matt is by far better than Dave.
no way bruh, Matty
What's funny is that Eddie would've done this kind of stuff even if he wasn't drunk
yeah but, shit, was he drunk!
High on life
Life was SO GOOD back then, thank God I was young back in the 90s !

We weren't fucked up. Ed was.

@@FreeAssRecordsOMG. Get over it already! No wonder they don’t like you.
Dave is a fucking beast….best Pearl Jam drummer ever…

oh, that hair Ed... makes me wanna get my hands into it
Abruzzese WAS the best they ever had, McMelty is ALWAYS killin it & Stoney should've never cut his hair....just my thoughts lol. Love drunk Eddie, whatta handful he was!
The closest I've came to seeing Jim Morrison revived was this Pearl Jam performance ;-).
Fer Abra Even better, Screaming Trees' Mark Lanegan (Nearly Lost You) love it & you'll see what I mean lol
*Miami 1969 intensifies*
Dude! Wow...Exactly what I thought too.
I'm literally getting ready watch "The Doors" movie now cuz after watching.
@@juliewaters5747 Lanegan is by far closest to JM since...Mad Season album
Best drummer!
Everybody loves Eddies shirt.
perfect just PERFECT choruses. Hits all them hard notes. Nowadays age has caught up with them. Eddie's humble as fuck now. All of his anger, rebellious spirit just gone.
He's just older... Still angry, though his on stage intensity has softened due to years of wear on his body.
If we can believe Kim Neely, the live vocals were too full of profanities and a large portion of it was replaced by punch-ins from the studio version by producer Brendan O'Brien.
I do believe what happened in Roskilde in 2000 took a toll on them...

Oh man please 😂. He is 60 years old. He is still amazing.
That shirt is a really good singer
My favorite Pearl Jam song
One of the messiest, barely held together, most emotionally resonant songs ever recorded by any band, ever. I have no idea what he is saying, but I know exactly what he mean.
THIS IS SO REAL

Being honest, my fav PJ song
Absolutely the best version I've head live! early days were just great and this sooo underrated, No 1 Bootleg to have once upon a time 💙Thankyou!!

and profanity
It’s the only time I’ve ever heard him actually miss notes and be off key.

The patented Stone Gossard neck thrust.😎
90´s = full energy
This puts me in such a good mood can’t explain
EVERYBODY LOVES US

Such an underrated PJ song
Stone Gossard absolutely nailed it at the start 🔥🔥

He was drunk! I love this guy
Absolutely legendary concert! 🔥🔥
Why is it getting brighter in here?

What a cutie Eddie was
So good
my sides are hurting from laughing so hard, eddie is so drunk and having the best and worst time of his life

The drummer obviously didn't drink tequila...he's totally nailing it.
He always did!
Yet he was the one that got kicked out, and they were never the same afterward. 😢

Love this!! At least a solid part of when MTv decided cheesy "reality" shows were a safer bet than music.
Funny also how Stone has become more the "fender" guy now..and Mike the "gibson" guy
😍😍😍
Brendan O spliced the studio track with this live performance to satisfy MTV.
GRUNGE BR LIKE AQUI \O
cool shirt brah
IF you watch the PJ20 documentary they all had been drinking alot before getting on stage
"It was disaster, total disaster"
haha
Eddie estava bebado neste dia kkkkkk

2025 🤘🏻
What's this song about?
Thanks for help.
Is this pre recorded cus it sounds to much like the studio version
I listen fr both sides of my bed
Partially dubbed?
I love Matt Cameron, great drummer but this song sounds way better when Dave does it.
every pre-yield song does sound better with Dave than with Matt
they are so pro that even drunk they remeber the lyrics and the notes
Eddie didn't even sing for most of the back half of the song. He was too drunk, was swearing profusely, and was just all over the place. I think Brendan O'Brien ended up dubbing the studio recording over the live show's video.

Was that the "it aint like that" riff at the beginning?
Ed's so drunk here LOL
the birth of no..hahaha..
Fun fact: Vedder was drunk during this performance
Eddie was so shit faced during this entire set.
I think they only played like two or three songs... Alice in Chains didn't fare any better themselves and Soundgarden allegedly just flat out refused to attend.
you can hear alice in chains-it ain't like that 0:00-0:01
Haha true
HAHAHAHAAHAHAAHA YOU REALLY CAN! HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAJAAJAA
