C172b Landing

  • Pattern entry, downwind, base leg, final and landing in a '61 C172b on a calm day.
    I guess you have to be quite interested in the pattern to watch this, then. No crash or adrenaline is found in this video. However, it may give you an idea how a normal landing works.

    Just found your videos, very nice! Just one question about this 172b landing, 65mph final approach seems like Cessna 150 territory. Isn't this a little slow for a 172B? I have only flown a later model 172 a few times, and it had airspeeds in knots. Thanks

      Actually it is even a bit slow. Target speed fully loaded is 59 mph, iirc (need to check poh). The 172b is very light, compared to the later series.

      @@mhoeltken Thanks. I found a 172C manual and a 1975 version both suggesting target approach speeds of 65-75mph. Which is the same as what's in the manual for my 1962 150B. Cessna really made it easy to switch between the two aircraft models with such similar flight characteristics.
