i've used this for orchestral music with tons of voices and even if it has trouble it's been super helpful and i can use the spectrogram and my own ear to find out the notes it didn't
This is a great basic Anthemscore tutorial. If you use the Anthemscore default sheet music window instead of routing to Musescore (as here), you can change the output from piano to guitar, and even guitar tab. The tab is a PDF so is not wildly hepful but is a very useful starting point. Likewise the guitar music is a PDF. If you export to Musescore, you CAN convert to guitar music on a single clef, but it is a lengthy process and the conversion doesn't always retain the octaves. The advantage is that you can export the result to guitarpro or tuxguitar.
This was incredibly helpful, I am so glad there is a resource with which I can so easily transcribe songs that I like! Now I can play "River Flows in You" for my piano recital!
Years ago I saw a guy playing on a keyboard and what he was playing was literally being written in music format on the computer screen in front of him, then he simply printed the sheet music off that he'd created. To this day I haven't got a clue what he was using? This was in the mid 90s.
I set it up for guitar and it puts out piano sheet music 👎. Eventually I discovered that you have to go into sheet music setting AFTER it has created the piano version and change the instrument to guitar. Then hit the show sheet music and you'll get the guitar version. Optionally, you can select tabs but you can't get tabs and notes at the same time. Tabs also allow you to configure alternate tuning.
Oy! It found the notes, but the song came out in the wrong key (Bb instead of F) and the wrong time signature (3/4 instead of 6/8 or better yet 12/8). The rhythm was also off for the first 12 measures. It started by being 5/16 late and gradually corrected itself over 12 measures to finally have beat one on the first quarter on measure 13. I understand that this can all be corrected with further work in MuseScore. We'll see.
Careful on trusting the key signatures such programs provide. The computer is merely making an educated guess. That tune is in the key of E minor, so there should only be one sharp in the key signature (F sharp) instead of three. (More involved, it could be debated that it's in E dorian, but the thing to do here is keep it in E minor and manually add sharps to the bass clef Cs in bars 7 and 8. If the phrase was completed, that line predictably would continue downward to C nature then B.) The key signature it gave is A major (or F sharp minor), which is a far cry from E minor (or G major). If the intention is to have a paid musician read it on the clock at an expensive studio, a lot of time and money will be blown with such a twisted confusion. For a pro, figuring out this particular A major-to-E minor puzzle on the fly may not be a hinderance, but blindly trusting a computer to figure out such a basic thing like a key signature could very easily turn ugly, expensive, timely and professionally and socially awkward. Best to just learn and depend on knowing the basics. Figuring out such fundamental music theory elements like the repeated sequence of the 12 notes on a piano and the logic of staves, clefs, key signatures and time signatures may only take the average person a few hours of watching a few videos and then sleeping on it ; )
Thanks for the tutorial RF. The song I want to transcribe is a duet of tenor saxophone and trumpet which are both in Bflat. So a piano is in C. Does this software transpose as well ? Help !!!
Thanks for the video! Is there any rule of thumb for how to decide where to put the split between treble and bass clefs? Middle C would be the easy choice I guess but especially for a beginner it's difficult to naturally know what to play with left or right hand. So having a good split would be very helpful rather than having to play both clefs kinda shared by both hands
There is a submenu which allows you to select to point at which to split. Once the sheet music has been made and shows up, you click on the sheet music cog on the left of the screen to bring up the submenu. In this vid, HelloIamBear has his program set to default the sheet music view to Musescore. I don't know if what I suggest works if you set that, but the default on Anthemscore is their own sheet music window, which is what I use.
Just tried it. Interesting toy, but honestly, transcribing by ear is way more productive. And you learn the song on close personal level too. And if you are a bit off, you made it your own :D
@@JADNCK You focus on melody first. You can loop a few notes or even a single one, until you get it, than move to the next. After you get the melody down, you will already have a good feel for chords. It take some time, but I found that it just helps you to get to know the song. More shortcuts and easy ways out you take, less genuine it will sound when you finally get to play it.

I'm a guitar player and I've been working with another guitar player helping him to get his music transcribed. I just purchased the anthem professional 4.5.0 and I have the latest version of musescore and been a pro member of musescore for a long time. I'm trying to figure out how to make the guitar the default for good and cutting out the piano. I just bought this 2 days ago so very new and really liking it. I know the basics of music theory pretty well. And I would like to convert this pdf file to musescore 3 can you help me.
I just tried the free version and ran an mp3 of Linus and Lucy (the trio) through it just to check it out. The results were hilarious. I was hoping for a lot more accuracy than what it spit out.
Hi there, I have downloaded AnthemScore tried to transcribe a track from my iTunes and the music came out blank?. Could that be a " Protected MPG-4 Audio " issue? and if so how do you remove the Protected blocking?

I wonder if you'd be able to help me, the song is called 'The opposite by us' by Melbourne band 'Big Scary'. It has some nice piano thrown in with a mix of the bass guitar and drums. I'd really appreciate it if you could also present a demo on how to play the song. They also played a live set on one of the local radio stations called triple j, which may give you some insight on how they played the song.

I went through liked all of those videos, and although some of the content wouldn't be very applicable to the reason I am subscribed (ie. the transcriptions/piano guides), it is all quality work. I think if you want your channel to grow so that it goes from something more than just a hobby (which is what I'm going to assume that is what this channel is to you) to something where you're able to possible supplement your income firstly try to do one thing and do it well, secondly you might even see some value in going through a course or reading a book on how to make money off youtube. The general consensus with UA-cam is that the growth is slow at first, but it picks up exponentially from there on out. There's also more than likely some luck involved as well (that is if you believe in that sort of thing).

RFrontier Well comedy is a beast of its own to conquer. One of my favorite comedians, Louie C.K, once said that you have to find what makes you happy and keep at it. Like any skill it will get better over time, another challenge is being able to accurately being able to portray why you found it funny, which means coming up with a system of finding the path you found to those emotions and wording it artistically.

be carefull by using the free version trial, when writing your own music, by using this program in the terms of use they become owner of your creations. I have red this in the terms of use. I advise to read by free trials of programs on internet to be carefull as more because there is no refund possible. Anthom software leaves also no erased files on your computer which you have to erase manually
The first time I did this with the trial version, it worked fine. But I tried to get some tablature out of the program, and now, no matter what I do (even reinstalled the program), I can only get tablature. What am I doing wrong? :(
We sing accapela and I have songs sent to me that seem to be impossible to trace back and find sheet music for. We exclusively use shaped notes in 4 part harmony. Is it possible to transcribe something like this?

Finally today I found your video!!! EUREKA!!! Thank you!! I have some questions. First, in your video you do show anthemscore but then when you're showing the sheet music you switch to musescore. Anthemscore is the program that actually deciphers the sounds from the music into visual/colorful notes. In order to convert it into sheet music versus just a colorful representation of notes, you need Muse score. I believe you can print out that sheet music through Muse score. This won't make guitar "tabs" though, the sheet music is made with piano in mind, though it should be helpful for understanding hard parts that are even for guitar. The program costs money, but you can download a free 30 day trial of it to see if it's what you need. The free trial let's you get both programs. +Israel Mercado you can get it on Windows and probably some other operating systems but it is not a mobile app. You can download it with a 30 day free trial I believe
The problem is that the song is not 181bpm! It’s writing crotchets when they should be quavers...the metronome clearly counted around 90 bpm yet it wrote it out incorrectly... how strange!
Didn't find it particularly helpful. No idea what happened but i'm guessing it was unable to distinguish the vocals from the guitar, bass and drums so I just got a complete mess of all those tracks mixed together in one sheet.
I've downloaded this programme (didn't have to pay anything) and it's amazing useful, but can I be sure it doesn't cost anything? Are there hidden costs?

Well, by the end of the video you said that you wanted to make a tutorial on how you transcribe songs (for your channel and personal use i suppose) so, i was wondering if you could make a video on the subject or if you already have done it on another channel, could you link it here please?
Save it as a midi file then import it to tuxguitar though bear in mind AnthemScore transcribes it to piano only so the notes and chords will come up ridiculous on the tab player. For example these are some of the chords I got on the tab: -7-----0--------7---- --------10------16-- ------------------------ -2---------------4----- --------0--------2----- --------1---------------
First you'd have to rip the audio into a file. You can do it using the program audacity. One of our videos explains how to do that. Then you can take that audio file and put it into this program.

It might be easy when there's one note at a time, like in that guitar intro, but if you try to use this software to transcribe for exampel a choir with 3-4 different voices, it fails completely. I don't just mean that the result is not perfect, the result is utterly useless. Bottom line, this program is absolutely no help for what most people need it for.
There is a way to do this for free and you don't have to sign up for a free trial period of anything. It's called "ear training" and then "dictation." It's a basic listening skill that any musician worth his ears develops as part of his learning.
+Rod Gray I can give it a shot and run it through this program. I think it would pick up most of the guitar pretty accurately. I'll try it and let you know soon. The latest anthemscore is terrible. The UI is awful when you're trying to do a score for other than the default piano. You open your mp23 file, and it transcribes automatically as piano. (in terrible time too). But when you change the instrument, it still comes out as piano. There is supposedly a "transcribe" button somewhere but I'll be damned if I can find it. Using the help pages is no help at all even if you search for a word. Absolute junk if you can't find your way around and there is no help to be had. Awful - don't waste your tie unless of course you want piano music badly written. Oh, and this video didn't help either.
ALL I WANT IS TO CHANGE THE FREQUENCY NUMBER TO A MUSICAL SCALE ON AUDACITY. I can't believe nobody has fucking done it yet in 2019 for an open source program.

I downloaded the trial and tried a few songs, but it won't open the sheet music in Musescore. It instead opens a window that says "viewer".
The trial is a ripoff. They make you think you can try it first. After download it tells you to buy it without being able to see how it works

I tried it with bagpipes and it doesn't work. Better to train the ears to write notes out.

I would just do a playback of iTunes with audacity running and have the extracted mp3 from audacity as a workaround.

Anthemscore is the program that actually deciphers the sounds from the music into visual/colorful notes. In order to convert it into sheet music versus just a colorful representation of notes, you need Muse score. I believe you can print out that sheet music through Muse score. This won't make guitar "tabs" though, the sheet music is made with piano in mind, though it should be helpful for understanding hard parts that are even for guitar. The program costs money, but you can download a free 30 day trial of it to see if it's what you need. The free trial let's you get both programs. The problem is that the song is not 181bpm! It’s writing crotchets when they should be quavers...the metronome clearly counted around 90 bpm yet it wrote it out incorrectly... how strange!
Does it get every note even in hard pieces?
I loved the interpretive dance and music.
Didn't find it particularly helpful. No idea what happened but i'm guessing it was unable to distinguish the vocals from the guitar, bass and drums so I just got a complete mess of all those tracks mixed together in one sheet.
Anthemscore only transcribes to solo piano.
Is this good for more complex piano pieces?

Yes you can, but the quality of it will depend on how well AnthemScore transcribed it.

Save it as a midi file then import it to tuxguitar though bear in mind AnthemScore transcribes it to piano only so the notes and chords will come up ridiculous on the tab player. For example these are some of the chords I got on the tab:

The program installer stucks at 84% every time...
This program takes up a LOT of both RAM and CPU. It's most likely stuck because you ran out of memory.
how can I transcribe from a youtube video ?
First you'd have to rip the audio into a file. You can do it using the program audacity. One of our videos explains how to do that. Then you can take that audio file and put it into this program.

just use melody and a DAW, way easier
It might be easy when there's one note at a time, like in that guitar intro, but if you try to use this software to transcribe for exampel a choir with 3-4 different voices, it fails completely. I don't just mean that the result is not perfect, the result is utterly useless. Bottom line, this program is absolutely no help for what most people need it for.
There is a way to do this for free and you don't have to sign up for a free trial period of anything. It's called "ear training" and then "dictation." It's a basic listening skill that any musician worth his ears develops as part of his learning.

The latest anthemscore is terrible. The UI is awful when you're trying to do a score for other than the default piano. You open your mp23 file, and it transcribes automatically as piano. (in terrible time too). But when you change the instrument, it still comes out as piano. There is supposedly a "transcribe" button somewhere but I'll be damned if I can find it. Using the help pages is no help at all even if you search for a word. Absolute junk if you can't find your way around and there is no help to be had. Awful - don't waste your tie unless of course you want piano music badly written.
Oh, and this video didn't help either.
