      I was in Korea in 1991-92 and you are correct the ROK soldiers I met had very strenuous training, I once saw them in Freezing temperatures working out in freezing water, I wasn’t sure at the time what type of soldiers these men were but they were very tough. I also loved the Korean Troops and their commitment but the surprising thing was the older generation of people who were living through the Korean War would always thank me, Such respectful people in Korea!
      I served for 23 years and retired honorably and I have never been to another country that I loved more than Korea.

      Did some Mountain Warfare cross training with ROK Marines back in 1995. Those guys had the respect of us Marines I can tell you. Dudes rappelling from a simulated helo skid 150 feet in the air just swan diving. Was one of the most memorable training experiences I had.

    I remember The Crucible. That was supposed to be the toughest two and half days of boot camp. Then, if you've signed up for infantry, you find out the Crucible was basically a 2-day field op. Wait till you go and do field training with an active infantry unit and haven't worn dry cammies for two weeks straight.

      You hit the nil on the head. My poor innocent boot soul didn't know how easy I had it then bam PB ops, ITX, and the MCREE all showed me life could be so much worse. Lets not forget jungle warfare training where the infantry gods thought it'd be fun to rain every single day without end. Ahh good times haha.

      That's cute. We got one 24 second phone call after two months. Drill Sergeant grabbed the phone from one kid, and cussed out his mother for raising such a F@¢k Up! I didn't have anyone to call, so it was amusing to watch.

    South Korean soldiers and Special Forces are trained by American troops and Special Forces. Like Korean UDT Seals are trained by America's Navy SEALs so South Korean training is a lot similar to America's training.

    I believe the yelling and insults are intended to force you to learn how to cope with stressful situations. In the battlefield, there's going to be firefights, shouting, loud noises, chaos, and you have to be able to keep your head and follow orders regardless of whatever distractions are happening.

  • @morganmariex

    I'm pretty sure the point of all the yelling and treating the cadets the way they do, is because the military wants to break down recruits mentally so that they can build them up the way they want them.

    • @HypnoticChronic1
      @HypnoticChronic1 8 місяців тому +7

      Partially yes but also to get them acclimatized to the constant yelling itself, since when things go kinetic during a deployment shit gets really loud really quick and yelling is really the only viable way to communicate and be heard over everything from your own rifle fire to a 249 burning through belts 3ft next to you to ordnance being impacting a couple 100ft away, its not exactly a quiet endeavor by any means.

    • @ryanp1467
      @ryanp1467 8 місяців тому +3

Second, start physical training at an Olympic level right away. 8-10 mile runs, push ups and sit ups until full muscle failure, then finish the run. EVERY morning. Learn to scour all the training manuals alone, and then NEVER tell a drill anything they didn't ask for! Good Luck.

    OSSC ladies, I was in the U.S. Army. Hand grenade training day they had us at the pit, a very heavy wall with a deep pit inside in case someone dropped a grenade the two instructors would kick the grenade in the pit and jump on you to cover you from the blast. So, there are a bunch of us there and they ask do we have any left handers here, me and a couple of other guys raised our hands at which time the specialist made a "oh hell" face and said go over there and stand your last to throw. I'm thinking what's up with this, not thinking lefties have to hold a grenade upside down to pull the pin and throw it upside down, those two dudes were scared.

Instead of watching those objectively bs videos talk to a few vets instead and listen to their stories, not only are they far more accurate but far more entertaining as well and you don't have to worry about any media filters with them, I'm sure y'all got a few vets floating around the ROK to ask.

    this is not special.
    just react to Indonesian special force Marine training,, they must swim 30Km with hands and feet tied..
    Korean people are amazed by the American military, while the American military is amazed by the Indonesian special forces hahaha, it's really something unexpected.
