@c0c0asauce it's a barrier for any one with an AR10 that wants a second upper in 8.6 and another can for their existing gun. $400 in taxes is a hefty percentage of the build cost.
@matthewconnor5483 The NFA is bad and I do not want to register anything I own but you said a setup like the one in the video which is $4400. A tax stamp is a drop in the bucket even for the cheapest possible build trying to replicate this one, especially if you want American sourced materials.
@c0c0asauce this set up is $4000+ but what about someone who was to build "the boom box we have at home" as an upper to their existing rifle? AR10 parts aren't too bad if you are looking to do a barrel swap. The $400 is a big barrier to someone that is just tinkering.
@matthewconnor5483 The reason I think it's not a barrier for the majority of people is the number of people buying suppressors went up a lot in the last 2 years but the price of cans hasn't come down and the tax stamp hasn't gone down. The wait times and the perception of an easy process seems like the biggest factor. The closest comparison I can think of is when the ATF said they would give free passes for registering SBRs last year. Even when the SBR stamp was free there were twice as many $200 suppressor stamps issued in the same period. Certainly there had to be some people who were suspicious of the free registration but if the price was that big of a barrier I think more people would have taken it.
I’d love to have an 8.6blk and a can for it. Recently got into the 300blk platform and I have a 556 can and a 9mm can I can run 300blk subs through but think my next can will be a 7.62/30cal can and I’m gonna do a AR10 setup. Something in 308
While a valid point- I think we all need to remember that this is the exact point people were making 5 years ago about the Honey Badger/300BO…. And we all know how that has played out.
💯 I said the exact same thing about the Honey Badger 10 years ago that it was overpriced and didn’t make sense. Now I own a honey badger 😂. Hopefully, this is the same deal where it’ll make sense in a decade. I still say 4400 is too high of an asking when you have the CMMG DISSENT at 2200, literally half. I just don’t see what makes the Boom Box worth 100% more rn.
You rock man. I think you need to do another video for the boombox because you kind of flubbed this one. Again, trying to be constructive. I love the content.
338 spectre is better, 8.6 is always gunna be suppressed or else whats the point. 338 spectre is only subsonic and also will always be suppressed except its in an ar15 instread of a ar10 body which mean better reliability, less weight, parts compatibility

Maybe the Surefire cells are protected and the optic only takes unprotected 18650’s
So excited for the Boombox, 8.6 in general is the most exciting thing in guns for a while.
UXR is like cheaper and better
The winter landscape in the background was a great addition to the vid.
It’s not just the video quality it’s the punk rock connection
THE BEST backdrop scenes on the 'webs'....
Thank you.
Rad AF Ivan, great stuff
If we can ever get rid of the NFA i could see this kind of set up being really popular for hunting in brush/thick woods.

There’s more money in them boxes than I make in a year before taxes. Thank you

JustCause is legit 💥💥💥💥💥💥
Thanks dude
Pretty awesome dude
The first video I watched had pennywise on it.. you win
I’ve had issues with 18650’s from Chinese factories vs surefire 18650’s. Crazy.
"When ammo is pretty espensive, more on that in a minute...." foreshadowing...
Boombox looks amazing, it’s just way too expensive and ammo is insanely expensive for an autoloader. I was expecting it to be about 3500 not 4400 😳

Yes, ammo is crazy expensive for 8.6 but if it gets SAMMI approved then hopefully cheaper. But darn fun weapon to shoot.
Let me know if you want to throw a light on it, I’ll send you one of my QSERT Scout Mounts.
Send me one.
I’d like one as well
I feel bad that you drive a subaru. #1 brand of antigunners.
Very cool. Ammo just too pricey to make it enjoyable.

Is Kevin in the comments arguing yet?
Will be soon
