I don't know if anyone else was bothered by the granite wall behind the TV, but it gave me anxiety. lol I love this channel and it has helped me so much with the color plans for my new home build. I love this video. So fun to see the cabinet doors makeover. Seems like there is quite the business opportunity out there for people to become professional cabinet painters! I like the choice of cloud cover for the cabinets. My only criticism is white floors, white cabinets, white countertops, and no contrasting backsplash. Is the backsplash just painted white? I think the kitchen could go from "much better" to "fantastic" with a tile backsplash with some color, even something subtle.
So much brighter and cleaner looking! Getting help from the “proud paint dad” would be greatly appreciated as we struggle to remodel our main level, preparing it to be wheelchair accessible.

Such a beautiful result! Our home is 20 years old and I wanted a white kitchen but my husband was totally against painted wood! Per him, it was a sin to paint wood cabinets….So we have dark stained wood cabinets but to this day I still dream of a white kitchen….
So, we own a cabinet shop and I have a question. Other than just reusing the doors so they don't go into the garbage as a benefit. How is removing/tagging, removing the thermofoil, filling the drill holes for hardware change, sanding and then 3 coats of primer then a finish coat going to be cost & time effective to just buying new doors that are the better quality MDF (made for finishing)? I am not trying to be critical but just thinking about how i would answer that question. Also how is that process done on site- the same way? also most customers want to change up something that doesn't work for them in the new kitchen- drawers vs doors, hidden valences. etc. I know that retrofits can be done, but are costly. Whenever we have priced a redo vs a new custom kitchen is nearly the same price. Thoughts? Hat's off to the guys doing all the spraying. I think they are pretty talented to do all that on site. Clearly the owner has invested in some great equipment. PS love the colour choice! Love your videos. There is of course a market for both, but just curious your thoughts.
I would have kept the beautiful original backsplash and selected a creamy white (maybe White Dove) for the cabinets, etc. Or, since even the floors are a creamy white, a slightly taupe color would have provided a subtle contrast and looked great with the backsplash. I even liked the existing countertops! Too much white for me!
Wow that was nice. Looks good. Although I did like it before. I can now see why all white kitchens can be a lot & why to test your colors, this one looked a tad yellow with the lighting even though it was slightly a grey undertone. Overall very nice and it was what they wanted.

Hey! Guess what? I have some amazing news to share with you - I'm closing on a new home in Rochester Hills, Michigan in just a week or two! It's a pretty old farmhouse that dates back to the late 1800s or early 1900s, and I can't wait to start making it our own. I'm really interested in exploring the history of the house and learning about the people who lived here before us. I think it would be so cool to find out about its past. On the not-so-great side, the house is in serious need of some upgrades and renovations. There's a ton of painting and remodeling that needs to be done, but I'm excited to take on the challenge! I love a white kitchen, and whilst this kitchen looks nice, it is also sterile and flat because everything is either very white or grey. Even the wood elements chosen is grey and pale, when walnut or acacia wood accents would have added an extra layer of warmth and depth to the space, including brass hardware and a brass frame for a painting with a bit more colour to its palette.
Very cool! How do you recommend finding a pro for painting cabinets like you have here? I'm outside of the Denver, Colo area, and I'm so scared of not finding a pro to do it right. Also, finding a designer like you have to help with the choices.
I normally love this channel and James-- and giving away a free kitchen remodel is a wonderful thing to do. But I was beyond disappointed that yet another white kitchen was presented to us. There are so many beautiful paint colors, not to mention natural wood, and kitchens can experience a stunning remodel if allowed to let color and texture on to the surroundings. I’m glad the owners like it and that is what matters. But I was very sad to see the channel not do something more creative. On camera, the kitchen doesn’t read with any shade or depth.Just stark white. Maybe it looks better in person? I usually don’t say anything negative, but I was surprised at the outcome. :-(
I agree, it was super cool to see them do a makeover! A fun direction for the channel for sure. But I feel like I've seen 10 million white kitchens and I'm so done with it. (It is still an improvement from the dark kitchen though, to be fair.)
I like that it was made over, but it looks a little sterile to me. And then I realized the filming lighting may have bleached out the color as well. I’m glad the home owners were happy.
It would have been nice if you had selected someone that really NEEDED a kitchen makeover versus two yuppies that just wanted one to make their house more perfect. 🤔
But this wasn't meant to be a gut the kitchen and start from scratch makeover. The Paint People needed a kitchen that was well designed and only needed repainted cabinet fronts, countertops, and backsplash.
This kitchen might not fit the rest of their house but it's not screaming of needing a makeover. I bet if you didn't offer a minute for free, they could've afforded you on their own. 😂
why are these people getting a free kitchen makeover? They are already blessed with a nice home and don't need this assistance. Try helping someone else who actually needs the help next time.
I just edited moved into 1944 rock house. I love it all except very ugly depressing galley kitchen. No window in kitchen. Cabinets are off white with natural wood trim. Very outdated. I double dog dare you to take this kitchen on !

Maybe try the lower cabinets in the wood tone and white upper cabinets. A good compromise.
