This is the 2nd time an Ice/Dragon type pokemon, after some time, became so overwhelming offensively in OU and got banned to Ubers. I loved using Bax before teal mask, but giving it scale shot was a mistake
I like this concept, also the fact you’re separating the new mons in a different video is a good idea, you can give more in depth coverage on both sets of new mons.
The absolute funniest thing the Teal Mask did was tease the potential return of The Pex only to flat out deny it the two greatest things The Pex abused to annoy everyone (scald and knock off). I remember checking the new TMs and freaking out when I saw Scald and Knock Off were back. Then I checked the compatibility with Toxapex. Then I just broke down laughing when I saw the truth. GG, game freak. You did one good balancing thing this generation.
You know what's more terrifying than Bloodmoon Ursaluna using Calm Mind once, Bloodmoon Ursaluna using Calm Mind multiple times. When I was battling Bloodmoon Ursaluna in the Timeless Woods, it used Calm Mind 4 times. I made the poor life choice of ignoring the Calm Mind boost because my strategy was to take down its HP with my Annihilape that I sorely regret not having Taunt in its move set now. It was horrifying to see my level 100 Annihilape get annihilated by Blood Moon. The Bloodmoon Ursaluna wiped out half of my team and I got lucky catching it because of my Annihilape taking out most of its HP before fainting and using a Dusk Ball. If you haven't caught Bloodmoon Ursaluna yet, use Taunt ASAP when battling it.
Torterra and Furret being in OU has nothing to do with them having OU usage. All the newly introduced DLC mons starts off in the OU tier, and there hasn't been a tier shift yet to drop them to a lower tier, which is expected to happen in 1-2 days from now.
torterra now is in uu with heatran, garchomp, scizor, gyarados, jirachi and rotom-wash and so many strong pokemon which means torterra is actually strong enough.
@@Melty36 Time will tell if Torterra will be able to retain UU usage. For this tier shift specifically, how far a mon drops from OU is entirely dependent on how much the mon was used in OU before dropping down. Torterra, thanks to new toy syndrome due to receiving Shell Smash, was definitely used quite a bit relative to the other dropped mons at the beginning of the DLC meta. Tort could be good in UU, but we will have to wait and see.
When you were covering Gliscor I was thinking "all of these make it sound like it got a downgrade in gen 9 how is it a winner" Then you said it got Spikes/TS and I immediately thought "say no more, hazard setter Gliscor sounds busted as hell"
Some minor things not mentioned in the video: - Goodra (Kalos): Kalos Goodra received some tools to differentiate itself from it's Hisuian Counterpart in Toxic, Knock Off and Scald. - Scizor and Scyther: Bug Bite and Dual Wingbeat have returned to Scizor's movepool, which allow for a better Bug Stab that isn't U-Turn and a Flying-Type coverage. And these two also affects Scyther. Oh not just that, Knock Off returned as well! - Weavile: Weavile recovered Knock Off, and thanks to Loaded Dice, it now has a more reliable Ice Stab than Icicle Crash: Icicle Spear. - Ninetales (Both Forms): The Nine-tailed foxes have gained access to BATON PASS. Although this move is banned in Competitive play, it's not on Wi-Fi battles, which allow these foxes to scout threats or pass up those Calm Mind/Nasty Plot/Agility boosts to Teammates in that mode. Oh and since Kantonian Ninetales returned, it has had a neash over Torkoal in being a faster support option for a Drought setter. Burning a lot of the metagame's physical threats thanks to the great 100 speed like Lando T, Tusk or Kingambit. And Sun has become better this Gen because of the Scarlet Paradoxes. - Kommo-o: The access to Terastalizing now means that Kommo-o can turn into a Ghost Type. What's the big deal? Well, Shadow Ball is pretty much the only Ghost move unless you happen to see a Poltergeist mon, and thanks to Bulletproof, it can shrug off this move with ease and set up a Clangorous Soul more easily. - Shiftry: Shiftry said goodbye to Early Bird, and hello to Wind Rider, which is basically Shift Gear for this mon in specific, and it also gets rid of a lot of moves it'd normally be weak to like Hurricane, Heat Wave, Icy Wind or the Genies' storms. - Infernape: Our fellow Monkey has got the least buffs compared to Empoleon's recovery and ability change, and Torterra becoming a terrifying late-game sweeper. So what did it get? A more accurate Fighting Stab for the special side in Aura Sphere, and more longevity for the Life Orb sets in Drain Punch, which is also powered by Iron Fists. - Garchomp: Scale Shot is on Garchomp's Arsenal too. Though this isn't as overwhelming as Baxcalibur because there's no weather that gives it a defensive boost, and that Rough Skin is an easier to play around ability than Thermal Exchange or Ice Body.
Another honorable mentioned goes to Alolomola. Aside on having Scald and other moves back that is good for, it's now got Flip Turn. Which can make switching it, healing moves and others thing more viable. It can be more annoying to battle, but even greater to use.
@@Nobody-su9km yea in general they are defined by usage, but this isn’t that situation. When there’s a dlc or home update all the new Pokémon get dropped in ou. Then after a month most of them drop to uu. Given that the first tier shift after the dlc is tomorrow, furret is just “in ou” right now because it is new, not because it’s getting used. I guarantee you it’s not going to be considered ou by usage tomorrow.
A lot more interesting mons got pretty big buffs too, Brambleghast and Ceruledge finally got a really strong physical ghost stab in poltergeist, and Shiftry is now a good lead option with wind rider tailwind plus toxic spikes taunt and explosion
Honestly putting lando as only an honourable mention when its nerfs were so severe that even after ruling usage charts for 3 generations, it was less that .2% usage from dropping to UU is a bit of an undersell to how hard it fell off. Other than that, great vid!
I feel you could argue that Heatran might be dealing worse than Clef. Since not only did it not receive anything the meta became far worse for it with Gliscor, Great Tusk, Ogerpon Wellspring, rain and so on
My dude, Iron Treads is currently thriving in UU and it's got no place in OU with all this power creep. If Great Tusk is slightly worse, Iron Treads is even worse, too.
I have an Idea for a new theorem : the Nidoking theorem Basically, it's about mons with an higher physical atk, that still mostly run special sets (mons like Dragapult, Iron Valient, Nidoking itself or Tauros in gen 1)
Crazy that the lack of roost hasn't hurt Gliscor at all. Spikes was such a blessing and Tera makes it incredibly annoying to take down. Some top 6v6 players want it bannned which has caused it to be on the radar.
@@user-uv2cp1qd1j Kingambit is arguably unhealthy right now too- people have been clamoring for a suspect. Needless to say, if Gliscor got Roost back, Gliscor absolutely would hit the critical mass for a suspect test if not a QB.
Minor note that Scale Shot with Loaded Dice doesn’t ALWAYS hit 5 times - it’s either 4 or 5 times. It’s still absolutely amazing in any case and it’s no wonder Bax got banned (most times with SD it didn’t even need all 5 hits) but it’s still something to note.
One thing that wasn't mentioned about Slowking - its Chilly Reception isn't the best way to set snow anymore, now that Alolan Ninetales and its Snow Warning are back.
It’s hard to believe clef is the number 1 loser, but it is sorta like Great Tusk. From being undeniably #1 to not is a BIG change. However, Clef ALWAYS adapts. That’s why it’s here. That’s what it was made to do. It came all the way from the moon. It can do anything
I could be late in realizing this, but it's almost impossible to wall anything in OU these days, huh? You got maybe a few good walls like Gliscor and Toxapex but not much else. That's on top of certain moves being takes away from the Pokemon that need those the most (Like Lando losing Knock Off and Gliscor losing Roost) or nerfed (Like Soft-Boiled) if they're gonna wall at all.
@@tfx9223 I mean yeah, bans gets rid of the ones tearing up OU the most, but that doesn't mean the problem is solved, right? The point I'm getting at is that OU is full of good offensive Pokemon but there aren't as many good defensive Pokemon and the ones there got nerfed in one way or another. I know Wall/Stall teams can be hell to fight against but it still kinda sucks, doesn't it?
I'm using tera-Grass Empoleon on my online doubles team. I haven't quire mastered positioning it, and I fumbled a tough but winnable match for that reason, but I believe in it.
Shell Smash Torterra is legit OP, and when Clefable is able to set up to the max with Cosmic Power, it’s capable of affording the 1-turn delay of Wish and take 5% from super effective moves.
The only mon I'd argue deserves #1 instead of Baxcalibur is Koraidon. That thing was always a top 2 mon in Ubers, but it ALSO got Scale Shot this gen and is doing a lot of the same SD+Loaded Dice Scale Shot shenanigans that Baxcalibur did in OU, minus the Snow+Veil. Right now Koraidon is arguably broken in Ubers and there's a real chance it gets suspect tested eventually, even before Miraidon.
Bloodmoon Ursaluna is just insane. I run an Assault Vest Bloodmoon with Bloodmoon, Earth Power, Vacuum Wave and Play Rough and it usually take 2+ KOs alone because of its insane Bulk. It can 1HKO so much of the Metagame with Bloodmoon or Earthpower... and everything that Survives usually is low enough that Vacuum Wave can deal the finishing Blow. I dont know what Gamefreak was thinking when they gave such a Pokemon reliable Priority matching its biggest Attacking stat but iam very happy about it :P
It’s just lovely to see an ice type like Baxcalibur be banned from OU because of being so powerful and (get this) BULKY!!! I never thought there’d be a day in which bulky ice types would be a thing. They did great with that ice type buff.
please never stop with funny thumbnails also i feel like gliscor can be a really good counter to amoongus with tera flying as an offensive pokemon. with toxic orb and tera flying or tera fire tera blast i think it can be a really good wall to amoongus
18:26 Scale Shot (and other multihits) hit 4-5 times with loaded dice, meaning it averages slightly weaker than Glaive Rush. But with boosting speed and SD it’s still crazy good

And Aura Sphere so it doesn't have to rely on Focus Blast
@@MaahirMomtaz12who's running special infernape?
@@dengar96 i mean special infernape isnt that uncommon, its got most of the tools it needs to be a special threat like nasty plot, flamethrower, overheat, aura sphere, grass knot, and vacuum wave. even though it doesn't get the iron fist boost, life orb or focus sash along with blaze can still give it a decent power boost and benefit it pretty well.
@@dengar96in gen 7 UU,one of it's most popular set is nasty plot
This is the 2nd time an Ice/Dragon type pokemon, after some time, became so overwhelming offensively in OU and got banned to Ubers. I loved using Bax before teal mask, but giving it scale shot was a mistake
Its good enough on its own, but paired with A-Tails getting Veil up its basically unkillable.
@@SamoIsKing tfw your dragon STAB drops your defense but that basically doesn't matter anymore because veil + snow makes it so much higher anyway
Teal Mask Baxcalibur was the equivalent of letting Gen 8 Kyurem Black roam OU again.
That being said if Kyurem Black gets Scale Shot too...
aye shutup shutup SHUTUP! if they hear you and make this happen !! 😂😂😭😭😭
Just a small correction, Loaded Dice doesn’t guarantee 5 hits, it makes it more likely to get 4-5 hits a turn
4 hits is still better than getting a measly 2 hits
It's not just more likely, it's guaranteed to be at least 4.
@@silvinity4939 and its still a crappy set up.

If you have ever used azumarill before to farm tera shards just use that vs the bloodmoon. Easy win.
Two videos in one day false swipe really on the grind this week
He's done that before, usually whenever a short joke video gets released
Torterra and Furret being in OU has nothing to do with them having OU usage. All the newly introduced DLC mons starts off in the OU tier, and there hasn't been a tier shift yet to drop them to a lower tier, which is expected to happen in 1-2 days from now.
Oh my god someone actually has a brain!
Ou is ou let’s have fun while we can ok 😂
torterra now is in uu with heatran, garchomp, scizor, gyarados, jirachi and rotom-wash and so many strong pokemon which means torterra is actually strong enough.
Another honourable mention is Almomola getting Flip Turn, giving it incredible wish pass utility.
When you were covering Gliscor I was thinking "all of these make it sound like it got a downgrade in gen 9 how is it a winner"
Then you said it got Spikes/TS and I immediately thought "say no more, hazard setter Gliscor sounds busted as hell"
Finally, people are finally starting to realize how amazing Furret is
Gen 2 fans keep winning
Let’s take it down a notch lmao
He will WALK in to the competition
with gliscor getting the ban hammer with tera not being a major part as to why, I think my boi is a bigger winner now than it was before.
Some minor things not mentioned in the video:
- Goodra (Kalos): Kalos Goodra received some tools to differentiate itself from it's Hisuian Counterpart in Toxic, Knock Off and Scald.
For Kommo-o, it can also Tera Normal for a nasty combo of Clangorous Soul + Throat Spray + Boomburst.
I’d add the chomp getting scale shot back too
@@Rarest26 Yeah, that helps Garchomp to stay Barely Hanging from the power creep a bit more
Another honorable mentioned goes to Alolomola. Aside on having Scald and other moves back that is good for, it's now got Flip Turn. Which can make switching it, healing moves and others thing more viable. It can be more annoying to battle, but even greater to use.
@@jaretco6423 If Clefable doesn't recover Teleport, Alomomola is surely gonna take its place in a couple Stall teams.
And now Gliscor is banned.
So FSG I do want to point out that the loaded dice doesn't guarantee 5 hits. it guarantees at least 4 hits with a very good chance of 5 hits.
he even used a clip where scale shot hits 4 times cmonnnnnn
This and him saying furret was ou because of usage…
that is not wrong, metas are indeed defined by usage, that's how they justify bans to higher tiers.@@UGMD
How cool was double upload actually?
-very cool👍
Honestly putting lando as only an honourable mention when its nerfs were so severe that even after ruling usage charts for 3 generations, it was less that .2% usage from dropping to UU is a bit of an undersell to how hard it fell off. Other than that, great vid!
I feel you could argue that Heatran might be dealing worse than Clef. Since not only did it not receive anything the meta became far worse for it with Gliscor, Great Tusk, Ogerpon Wellspring, rain and so on
17:03 Something doesn't look quite right here...
I'm honestly glad at the posibility of Furret skipping the untiered area
Garchomp dropping to UU for the first time since its debut due to power creep is incredibly funny.
I really missed shiftry beind mentioned in the honorable mentions
My man went from dogshit unnusable to actually ok now with wind rider
I like seeing Great Tusk getting bad, because it makes Iron Treads better
*Laughs in robot dominance*
Well, only one these species HAS died out so far...
My dude, Iron Treads is currently thriving in UU and it's got no place in OU with all this power creep. If Great Tusk is slightly worse, Iron Treads is even worse, too.
@@GhostbusterPalu Let me just enjoy the robots without you ruining it for me
Iron treads is a better spinner imo
So blood moon is what people thought gigaton hammer was gonna be, terrifying.
Tbf gigaton hammer is a terrifying move, it’s only really held back by tinkaton’s middling attack stat
Give gigaton to kingambit and that's basically bloodmoon.
Bloodmoon Ursaluna reminds me Akakabuto. A monstrous, one-eyed bear standing on its hind legs with a hint of red too
I think it's funny how so many people thought gliscor would be like B or c in ou but instead it's just so insane now
Galarian Snowking sure sounds like a terrifying pokémon.
I have an Idea for a new theorem : the Nidoking theorem
Basically, it's about mons with an higher physical atk, that still mostly run special sets (mons like Dragapult, Iron Valient, Nidoking itself or Tauros in gen 1)
As someone whos favorite pokemon is gliscor, this makes me so glad its still amazing
As someone who always loved Gliscor, the thumbnail makes me very happy.
Crazy that the lack of roost hasn't hurt Gliscor at all. Spikes was such a blessing and Tera makes it incredibly annoying to take down. Some top 6v6 players want it bannned which has caused it to be on the radar.
Would Roost make it bannable? Or just simply the best mon in the tier a la Kingambit?
@@user-uv2cp1qd1jprobably just the best mon in the tier
@@user-uv2cp1qd1j Kingambit is arguably unhealthy right now too- people have been clamoring for a suspect.
Needless to say, if Gliscor got Roost back, Gliscor absolutely would hit the critical mass for a suspect test if not a QB.
I'm happy to see Torterra finally be doing good, however briefly it lasts. Glad to see my first ever partner Pokémon get the buffs it deserves.
I'm just happy my boi actually no longer being left in the dust. All I asked and wished, was a Torterra buff.
even infernape got some buffs like switcharoo, knock off, raging fury, and aura sphere
Dang 2 uploads a day. FSG really on that content grind
A lot of pokemon won with Scald becoming far more restricted.
Update : Blood Moon Ursaluna is now banned in OU
Two FSG videos in one day? And on my birthday?! Today is a good day
Minor note that Scale Shot with Loaded Dice doesn’t ALWAYS hit 5 times - it’s either 4 or 5 times. It’s still absolutely amazing in any case and it’s no wonder Bax got banned (most times with SD it didn’t even need all 5 hits) but it’s still something to note.
Wait, how is Slowbro able to learn Chilly Reception? I thought only both Slowking forms could learn it.
My hypothesis is that they spent who knows how long clicking metronome until getting the footage. Either that or hacking.
@@Rarest26 Now that you mention Metronome, that's probably how they got Slowbro to use Chilly Reception.
@@MelvinDEngineere Chilly Reception can't be called by Metronome, so this Slowbro is hacked.
@@WolframUA-cam Bulbapedia does indeed lists Chilly Reception as a move that Metronome can't select.
One thing that wasn't mentioned about Slowking - its Chilly Reception isn't the best way to set snow anymore, now that Alolan Ninetales and its Snow Warning are back.
He does mention it in both the #1 loser and #1 winner discussions, but I agree that should've made A-Ninetails an honorable mention.
17:02 wtf slowbro using chilling reception?
Anyone else catch the Slowbro using Chilly Reception?
17:03 how did that slowbro use chilly reception
Anyone else noticed the hacked Slowbro at 17:03 lol
I could be late in realizing this, but it's almost impossible to wall anything in OU these days, huh? You got maybe a few good walls like Gliscor and Toxapex but not much else. That's on top of certain moves being takes away from the Pokemon that need those the most (Like Lando losing Knock Off and Gliscor losing Roost) or nerfed (Like Soft-Boiled) if they're gonna wall at all.
That’s what bans are for
@@tfx9223 I mean yeah, bans gets rid of the ones tearing up OU the most, but that doesn't mean the problem is solved, right? The point I'm getting at is that OU is full of good offensive Pokemon but there aren't as many good defensive Pokemon and the ones there got nerfed in one way or another.
I know Wall/Stall teams can be hell to fight against but it still kinda sucks, doesn't it?
I love Scale Shot Baxcaliber dancing to Penny's theme
Did anyone else notice the slowbro use chilly reception on the Baxcalibur section or was that just me
great upload but also i adore how Nemona is used as the thumbnail character :D
Seeing Landorus-T being misstreated put a giant smile on my face 🙂

Now that is a thumbnail!
I'm using tera-Grass Empoleon on my online doubles team. I haven't quire mastered positioning it, and I fumbled a tough but winnable match for that reason, but I believe in it.
17:03 Wait a second, don't think I missed that! Does Slowbro now learn Chilly Reception too?
it was a mistake, they usually gen their mons.
Shell Smash Torterra is legit OP, and when Clefable is able to set up to the max with Cosmic Power, it’s capable of affording the 1-turn delay of Wish and take 5% from super effective moves.
Why do all the videos I wanna watch coming out when I have a research paper due that I need to work on 😭😭😭
17:03 can't Slowbro not learn chilly reception ? Lol
When Penny theme kick for the first winner like it's actually hype
17:04 why is slowbro using chilly reception
Why play rough instead of moonblast?
Just FSG casually showing off his hacked Chilly Reception Slowbro lol 17:02
It’s just lovely to see an ice type like Baxcalibur be banned from OU because of being so powerful and (get this) BULKY!!! I never thought there’d be a day in which bulky ice types would be a thing. They did great with that ice type buff.
please never stop with funny thumbnails
also i feel like gliscor can be a really good counter to amoongus with tera flying as an offensive pokemon. with toxic orb and tera flying or tera fire tera blast i think it can be a really good wall to amoongus
Gliscor is just ridiculously good defensively.
Please do a therom video that explains the impact of field condiotion (entry hazards, terrains, weather, trick room, etc)
18:26 Scale Shot (and other multihits) hit 4-5 times with loaded dice, meaning it averages slightly weaker than Glaive Rush. But with boosting speed and SD it’s still crazy good
