    Nice review, thank you.
    I will caution people looking to purchase this helmet; it fits VERY snug. I have owned a helmet (or helmets) from every major manufacturer. Always have worn a large. I have an RPHA 11 pro (large), fits great.
    I purchased this exact helmet in large, and after about 30 mins of wear it becomes uncomfortable to wear. After 40-45 minutes it becomes excruciating. So, that being said, if you buy one, wear it for about an hour while watching TV or something.
    Don’t get stuck with an $1k helmet you can’t return (like me).

      I think your accurate size for this helmet is XL (60-61) Not L size (58-59) thats why you feel snug and pain

      ^ this. I just ordered a large because I didn't think to check if the sizes were the same in rpha 11 pro and rpha 1n and I have to return it and get the XL

    I have the RPHA 90S Carbon, black. The best….best lid I have ever owned. Just fantastic all around for 475.00 shipped. And, it looks amazing. HJC got me good as a customer.

    Nice review but no way I would wear a helmet advertising a big company for free. My opinion is if redbull or any redbull wants to be on riders helmets rider should get the helmet on a discount and redbull pay that.

      I don’t know how to say this exactly, like yes you make a good point. But I think when it comes to something like this people like to have graphics similar to what they see their favorite racers. We see monster edition or repsol edition bikes and for some people it’s fun. But the truth is almost any piece of gear is “free advertising” basically. Almost every brand of helmet has their logo on it somewhere. Same with many gloves or shoes. Even in casual wear many sneakers have logos like Nike or adidas that are recognizable. Sometimes the logo is very minimal but the style is recognizable, like with vans. My point is just that I get you, but are you saying you really only wear completely unbranded/unmarked clothing? This helmet does come in other color options so you aren’t forced to wear Red Bull helmet, but they do all say HJC.

    Just got this helmet, my number 1 complaint is how tiny the chin curtain is. There is an extension you can add that velcros in that improves it a bit, but it would certainly benefit from being larger
    This is the source of the buffeting noise he describes, as well as significant airflow into the face region even with all vents closed. If I place my hand to block this area the noise difference is night and day, and is impressively quiet. Some might not care about the airflow itself, but I wear contact lenses and this can cause visibility issues while riding as they dry / cloud up. The extension mostly solves the contacts airflow issue, but the buffeting remains.
    It's a shame they didn't account for this. I may look into fitting it with a chin curtain myself, but it's sucks to have to modify a $700 helmet immediately.

      I noticed this as well, what helped is wearing a thin balaclava, or a neck gaiter no more wind down there. i dont like tinkering with helmets.

    Id like to see this compared to the ls2 thunder carbon. I feel like they play at a similar price point and both have that FIM rating

    Glad to see them move away from their horrible visor latching system they used on the regular RPHA. I would break one every season on my last rpha.

      That's strange, I've have both an RPHA 70 ST and RPHA 11 Pro for a few years and haven't had a single issue with the latching system. I actually really like it since it's so easy to operate with gloves.

    Hi! Thank you for the vids. I'm not a rider but I have a question for the community. It is mentioned that earplugs are recommended when riding in traffic. Is this really a reasonable (and common) practice? Ignorance will lead me to believe that the more senses you put in your environment, the safer. No?

    • @SWTrailsAndWheels
      @SWTrailsAndWheels 2 роки тому +16

      I wear earplugs 100% of the time on and offroad. You can actually hear many sounds better by eliminating the deafening wind roar. You will suffer permanent hearing damage without earplugs.

    • @AndrewFearn42
      @AndrewFearn42 2 роки тому +5

      Yeah, I wear earplugs especially if I’ll be on long highway stretches because the wind noise can muffle everything else at high speeds.
      It’s not the same as, but similar to driving on the freeway with your car windows open vs closed.

    • @lecuyermarcandre
      @lecuyermarcandre 2 роки тому +9

      I agree with the previous commenter. You want to use earplugs most of the time, even while using fairly good noise insulating helmets. The only time I don't wear earplugs is when I commute to work, which is about a 10 min ride in the city at 50km/h and I don't have a loud bike.

    • @dreadlockgoalie
      @dreadlockgoalie 2 роки тому +1

      Get a pair that has filters for low frequency. It filters out (or rather, lowers) wind or exhaust noise that will wreck your hearing but not what you want to hear, like horns or sirens.

    • @redeyedfreaks
      @redeyedfreaks 2 роки тому

      I feel like the majority of riders don't wear ear plugs. I typically only bother with it for longer highway rides. although my bikes are not loud and my helmets are decently quiet
