Great vid KV! I don't know what was squeaking on that baler early on in the video, but you might want to hunt down the source. A squeak on a baler can be a fire in the future. On the other hand, one of those new Vicon nonstop balers would be nice. The only one ever made that would make me want to quit square bales. You must check out the video on Kverneland's YT channel. It's the rats ring muscle!

Late eighties, while still at school, the guy I worked for bought a second hand JD 450 I think, did a four or four and a half foot bale, belt and string, i only did a few bales and he had it all set up but I remember it had a piece of metal that moved to denote the size of the bale on each side, then having to bag the silage bales and cable tie. He had a new, new Holland after that, chain and slat, then he went to Welger after that.
Have you thought of making your own bar for the net? See if it's any better, or it may be that they changed it to metal, may be worth looking into.

Our spreader roller is bend down in the middle, put a bit more tension on the net and it'll be no trouble

i just pull it back up if it needs it. I was happy with the net tension as it was so will leave it be

Well I know where to come for my jd 550 when she needs fixed!😂. Plus, you don't see many now putting a feed bag on their hitch. Was gonna do that this year as the mb hitch almost touches ground 😂😣

I learnt alot about baling back then with a 550, I think it was all learnt the hard way compared to modern balers. They wernt good at starting a bale, usually had to do it on tick over until it started to roll. Bag saves any hassle with pin dragging grass and still have a lynch pin at end of day

@@GEOFFKV6080 lol, yeah I usually drop down a cog to get her started but then flat out across the field, mind you, that's in hay as she won't do silage (chain missing and I think something is bent😕) nout worse than leaving the baler in a hedge as the pin pops out 😂😣

Cant beat the McHale, the only thing they aren't good at is short wet grass, it tends to pile up behind the pick up but before it gets chopped
