I just purchased a new 2022 4Runner Limited. I must say, they are absolutely an outstanding vehicle. I have owned just about every SUV on the market (English and German), and the 4Runner Limited trumps them all. Having owned 3 Range Rovers and 2 BMW X5's, you get tired of the little issues constantly and not so little issues. Yes, they are under warranty, however, it is a hassle. And the biggest thing about these other brands is the depreciation---not doing that anymore. Very sharp, very smooth ride, very elegant look with a sporty twist. It really can be dressed up or dressed down. For '22, Toyota added a couple of great features including surround video. Toyota hit it out of the park with this one!
Just got a 21 love it. Came from a 2000 Durango with 5.9 L that got totaled but was super clean, had it for 21 yrs. Toyota rides better because coil springs all around vs torsion bar in front and leaf's in the rear for Durango. Toyota is slow by comparison but That's not why i bought it (for speed). Also Toyota has a higher center of gravity so u cant drive 4 Runner aggressively like the Dodge. Didn't want the new Durango because its a unibody and more of a street performance design than a truck. although the new Durango has a much higher towing capacity than the Toyota. Cant go wrong with Toyota. Time will tell cause i bought this thing no financing outright, bought the extended service plan for 10 yrs. last truck was still good looking and reliable after 21 yrs. See if i can do it again.
@@alexvignola5011 I don't care about the gas mileage or i wouldn't have bought it in the first place. How is the Green New Deal like a watermelon? Green on the outside, RED on the inside.

i owned two 4Runners and they were great. You are 100% correct about fuel inefficiency but the reliability more than compensated. they were beast cars in snow and inclement weather. i was able to get both to 185,000 miles before the transmission died. if you travel a lot for work , buy it. during big snowfalls( 1 foot plus) , i was the only suv or car that could drive
Very well Done Video. I recently bought a Limited and your review is spot on. It was as if you owned one yourself. You hit all the key points of this vehicle and did an amazing job. You are one of the best and I truly enjoyed your camera angles and how you used the rear view mirror for the video. Very Professional video and excellent narration.
Nothing rides as nice as a 4runner, got a 2019 limited, and 2011 limited; both beautiful trucks; tried everything and I can't stand the weight of others, durability is best and feels like a true long term SUV.
I have a 16’ premium that I’ve had for about a year. It’s a decent car but I’m not in love with it. It definitely feels like an old SUV, and it’s heavy with lots of body roll, but the reliability and capability is definitely there.
Nice review! My wife has a 2020 AG TRD Pro, the first change we made was changing out the headlights for LED’s. It’s nice the Toyota finally put LED’s in the T4R!
Love my Shoreline Blue '12 4Runner Limited... 84,000 miles, just breaking it in 🤪 At 9 years. Note: The Limited AWD does not go to 2WD.... You have do have options: H4F - regular AWD (full time) H4L - hi speed locked AWD for Wet, slippery/ snowy roads etc. L4L - low speed locked AWD for slow slippery mud, snow, hi torque situations. My 2010 SR5 had the shift lever with 2WD, 4WD, & 4WD Locked low. Some models have those options with the lever or the knob, the Limited AWD doesn't offer 2WD, there was a Limited with 2WD only. I loved my 2010 with rear wheel drive and 29 mpg. My 2012 Limited gets 16 mpg, but added heated leather, keyless entry/ push button start, Dual Climate Control, NAV, those 20' wheels, etc. The AWD Limited comes at an MPG cost.

Hope they have upgraded the door lock actuators. I have a 2015 LTD- on my third actuator on the driver side and my second on the passenger side. And that one doesn't work now either.
I’m retired from Toyota and just traded in my 2012 4Runner with 192,623 miles on it for the 2021 Limited 4Runner. Very disappointed that there is no blind spot metering, but the biggest downer is the LED lights. They have dark spots/shadows that hang down. Thought it was just my vehicle and then I started reading reviews and it seems to be an issue with a lot of the new buyers Of 4Runners. It’s very distracting. I’d take my Halogen lights back in a minute. Guess I’ll wait for an after market light to come out to replace. And yes, I’ve had Quality Managers at TMMI look at them and they couldn’t believe what a nuisance the dark shadows are with the LED lights in the new 4Runner. Sometimes Toyota designs go amuck without suppliers and this time is one of them and that’s from someone who retired from Supply Chain Management. Otherwise, it’s a great vehicle and I get a great discount on it so it’s hard to bite the hand that feeds me.😁

@@mikeporro3311 I have the midnight black also. Love the blue flakes. We got it late November, so far we have 400 miles on it. With Covid it mostly sits in the garage. Only been washed once. We are so happy we choose the 4Runner. Wanted another land cruise but at $80k it’s out of out budget.
@@Nostromo_1 U don't notice the blue flakes till u look up close in the sunlight. I just picked up the truck 2 days before Christmas(nice present to myself LOL!) i have about the same mileage as u. I just got my 2023 4 Runner Limited and I love it. The last one before the new design comes out. I think it's the best SUV ever. It has everything I need. Anyway, Very good video here. 👍
Today seeders often call suv and cuv the same to trick customers into selling. I never accepted that. It is not natural that Suv must be equipped with a separate chassis. Angular appearance. 4x4 drive system short wheelbase, Large front, back, middle exit
I was impressed with the ride. Supposedly the xreas suspension is $4k and lasts 45k miles. I like the 4x4 system for the limited.. Seat isn't as soft as I'd like. I've decided for the price I'll just go with a SR5. I was going to wait but the offers available now since cover are really good.
Nice share! What is the 2021 towing capability: maximum trailer tongue weight that it can handle and the maximum gross trailer weight that it can tow? Thanks!
@@pamelah7235 how many miles per year do you average? If you don't mind me asking. Let me know how it goes for you gas wise how you like it once you get it I'm excited for you 🤓
If you've never driven one, then you wouldn't understand why these 4Runners are so special. Yes, they're very outdated and utilitarian in design, but they're built to a higher standard than the domestic equivalent, in terms of longevity and durability. They're not targeted towards the people that want the latest features and trade up every 1-2 years. These are designed to drive long distances for many years/decades with minimal problems, then handed down to the next generation to enjoy. Just bought a 2014 with 200k and it literally drives as new as the 2021 that I test drove the day before.
Excellent review. I am surprised that you didn't find the power window controls to be inconvenient and guaranteed to get wet when it rains. I have been driving my 2008 4Runner for 12 years and still love everything about it. It still looks and drives like new.
Love your reviews. I miss my 1990 4Runner from high school but not digging the look on the current models. Happy I'm going with the KIA Telluride SX Prestige :)
Seems largely unchanged from my old 2006 SportEdition. A bit more modern in the right places. I had the XREAS suspension on mine as well. Really helped the ride. Great video. Like our '18 Highlander the third row is nearly worthless.
Great review. People say the 4runner is so outdated and old school. A tiny trivia question is the 4runner did away with the CD player years ago. However, in some of your brand new luxury SUVs, they still have CD players. Just a bit of irony.......:)
After going around and looking at used cars that were ready for the crusher for 5 grand or more i had to buy new. Even used cars going for 10 to 12 grand all have 150 k on the clock. Everything's going to get more expensive including the 4 Runner. My dealer tried to sell me a new truck with a Scratch/dent in the door. We notice it after we made the deal but before we left the lot (thankfully) so they had to fix it and i chose to install running boards at the same time. Had to go take a shower after leaving the dealer.
@@gingeybread1423 Don't think that is the reason...since the sequoia has same power window and power lift gate. There are after market add on for the 4runner power lift gate though.
Great truck, I have a 2019 Trd ORP and I love everything about it, unfortunately I recently had to replace my front dif because of a needle bearing defect. I'm still sure it will last me for many years to come.
All you people complaining about the 5 speed. how do you feel about a lot of brands with with smaller displacement engines, sometimes with 4 cylinder in BIG cars? and some come with terrible CVT transmissions. In my opinion its even worse
Exactly. I never understood why these automakers are using smaller displacement engines in heavy vehicles for only a 1 or 2 MPG benefit. What’s the difference?
JokerG16 for some countries they have tax systems based on engine displacement as it is widely regarded that bigger egines consume more fuel and is worse for the environment. So it encourages manufacturers to develop smaller but more powerful engines.
If you had the choice of a 4 runner night shade and the kia telluride which would you choose?? I know they are very different but I am honestly so torn between the 2! I also have not been able to test drive a telluride as kia is not in my area of living. Please help!😁
I have a 2019 limited and not a single problem. These will go 400k if I change the oil every 5k. They are very good on and off road and will hold there value very well. The Kia won’t come close to the reliability resale or off road ability of the forunner. Toyota 4Runner is built in Japan in the world famous Tahara factory. Best quality in the world easily.

@@rightlanehog3151 I bought mine from a dealership that had just taken it in from a trade. A farmer had had it for a couple months, put 6000 miles on it, then wanted a pickup...my gain his loss!
@@lucyflorey9152 Although Toyota generally makes the most reliable cars, the superior quality of their trucks and SUVs is even more notable compared to the competition. Enjoy your 4Runner!
Excellent review. It's because of you that I am going to buy a T4R.
Thank you. Great work!
just bought mine, cant wait for new adventures!!
I have this exact 4Runner and I love it.
Hope they have upgraded the door lock actuators. I have a 2015 LTD- on my third actuator on the driver side and my second on the passenger side. And that one doesn't work now either.
Thanks for this video my family and I were at getting a Jeep Grand Cherokee, after seeing this video I’m sold where do I sign
Otherwise, it’s a great vehicle and I get a great discount on it so it’s hard to bite the hand that feeds me.😁
I had the same issue, bought the Alpharex Nova headlights that solved my issues. They weren't cheap but they do look nicer than the OEM headlights.
Bulletproof Suv. Interior quality and technology needs to be updated.
My dad said he is getting my mom a 2021 4Runner so I came here to see how it is and it looks amazing
Just sold my 2 3rd gens and bought a 15 limited.. very excited.
Wife and I got a black limited this week. Love it!
Blacked out emblems like mine. The paint has little blue specks in it which you dont notice till u inspect up close. Nice.
@@mikeporro3311 I didn't get the night shade. We liked the limited better. Ours is just like the one in the video, except black.
@@Nostromo_1 Mine is called Midnight Black metallic with blacked out emblems and aluminum colored wheels and running boards. If u have Midnight Black metallic look at the paint up close u have little blue flakes u cant notice from a distance. Night shade has Black wheels and can be called nightshade on a white truck because of the black chrome and wheels which I thought odd.
I don't drive that much, had a 2000 Durango before 4 Runner bought it new , it only had 75k on the clock when it lost its life. My Goldwing is a different story Bought it new in 2008 and has 70k and still kickin azz. 2 wheels is just so much fun the miles melt away. PS i cant find a locking gas cap for the 4 Runner anywhere. Tried Napa and even the Toyota parts counter ,SOL. Even called Stant and they said no listing for anything above 2019. i tried that and got evap check engine light. oh well. Best of luck with that beautiful truck.
Can't wait to get one. Perfect car
i am so used to the gas mileage of the Prius, I am not sure I can handle 16/18 mpg on this vehicle.
Thanks for thorough review! -Others miss the mark on the Limited’s unique features.
I just got my 2023 4 Runner Limited and I love it. The last one before the new design comes out. I think it's the best SUV ever. It has everything I need. Anyway, Very good video here. 👍
2024 is the last year before the new re-design .
I have an 07 4 runner v8...thing is a tank..200 k..runs like new.
Wish they would bring back the v8 in the 4runner
@@DriversOnly it is due for a timing belt, and needs new catalytic converters, but once i beat those , i should be good for a while.
@@DriversOnly pass evrything but a gas station...lol!
@@mikeschlup5279 ... True.
Today seeders often call suv and cuv the same to trick customers into selling. I never accepted that. It is not natural that Suv must be equipped with a separate chassis.
Angular appearance.
4x4 drive system
short wheelbase,
Large front, back, middle exit
These are pretty good and reliable off-roaders, although I think most will stay on suburban streets
The only feature I wish it had is blind spot monitoring.
Yea im not sure why it was omitted
Great review. I enjoy your videos.
I love my 4 runner, but no way would I but a 2021. No way. I would wait for the new model.
2022 is a carryover…again. Well, there’s always 2023……
Thanks!
Toyota needs to bring back the V8.
If they convert it to diesel it would dominate the market
The V8 requires removal of intake manifold to get at starter motor. I'll stay with the six.
I always wanted a 4runner but that MPG is what keeps me from buying one since I drive a lot for work.
What is the MPG?
@@namvet1968 16/19
@Jacob Del Bene it still pretty bad when head to head with modern suvs
Not me. I’m getting the limited soon. On back order. I drive 70-90 miles a day. My sport Camry is horrible with gas. Around 17 MPG. 270 horse power 😣
@@pamelah7235 how many miles per year do you average? If you don't mind me asking. Let me know how it goes for you gas wise how you like it once you get it I'm excited for you 🤓

Same here, I have a 2013 Limited. It had 4 miles when I bought it brand new and currently has a little over 209,000 miles. No problems with it at all.
I love the 4Runner, wish I had one..... oh well! :-)
Great review. I enjoy your videos.
Awesome vehicle. Do you know if 2021 4Runner has a blind spot monitoring system?
I wish I had one
Nice review but it’s time for major updates irs in tear more powerful engine and updates interior
Nice Vehicle, I liked the front grill better on the old ones, New Grill looks like a big Frown
I want one when it’s redesigned, otherwise like it but it’s been around too long
Keep the Japanese car review coming
If you've never driven one, then you wouldn't understand why these 4Runners are so special.
Yes, they're very outdated and utilitarian in design, but they're built to a higher standard than the domestic equivalent, in terms of longevity and durability.
They're not targeted towards the people that want the latest features and trade up every 1-2 years.
These are designed to drive long distances for many years/decades with minimal problems, then handed down to the next generation to enjoy.
Just bought a 2014 with 200k and it literally drives as new as the 2021 that I test drove the day before.
Nicely put. It’s a lifestyle vehicle like a jeep
The hour is driving me crazy at 2:07 ... 2:08pm on the digital clock but 2:09 pm on the infotainment system clock.... lol
Infotainment system clock is set by gps. Dash clock u set the time urself.
Excellent review. I am surprised that you didn't find the power window controls to be inconvenient and guaranteed to get wet when it rains. I have been driving my 2008 4Runner for 12 years and still love everything about it. It still looks and drives like new.
Maybe because I didn't test it when its raining lol :).
@@DriversOnly Haha
This needs a heritage edition.
this is the heritage edition, thats how fucking old it is
Putting price aside, how would the 4Runner compare to the GX with luxury package as far as hardware, on road and off road. Thank you.
Good question.
Why does none of them have CD players in them? Is it an added cost to put in? Thank you.
Mine is a 2017 with a CD player amd bluetooth. CDs are obsolete now.
Mine has a CD player, I have a 2019 TRD
Lets be real. Who can afford this? 95% if the commenters here cant
Buy used.
@@libbyreed8588 buying used is almost as buying new lol with these 4runners, they hold their value
the limited and TRD PRO deserved the small V8 from the GX. The V6 is rather underpowered and MPG isn't that much better than the 5.7 V8.
It would have been better if they atleast upgraded dashboard with better display
We’re will I get this car to buy?
Love your reviews. I miss my 1990 4Runner from high school but not digging the look on the current models. Happy I'm going with the KIA Telluride SX Prestige :)

Seems largely unchanged from my old 2006 SportEdition. A bit more modern in the right places. I had the XREAS suspension on mine as well. Really helped the ride. Great video. Like our '18 Highlander the third row is nearly worthless.
Comoda rapida y segura ...poderosa...conclusion extraordinaria. La recomiendo.
Great video!!!
Great review. People say the 4runner is so outdated and old school. A tiny trivia question is the 4runner did away with the CD player years ago. However, in some of your brand new luxury SUVs, they still have CD players. Just a bit of irony.......:)
This car hilux and prado i need one badly for a good use.
Sooo...your saying the 4runner can do more then a Honda Pilot 🤔🤔🤔??
For sure!
My 2010 Honda Pilot has been so reliable with no problems!
Fortuner vs 4runer 2021 who is best ?
Where is the drive's side grab handle?
no 2 wheel drive on the limited man
Yes my bad!
Always Toyota Make the best Cars love it
It would be the right suv for me-for 1/2 the price
After going around and looking at used cars that were ready for the crusher for 5 grand or more i had to buy new. Even used cars going for 10 to 12 grand all have 150 k on the clock. Everything's going to get more expensive including the 4 Runner. My dealer tried to sell me a new truck with a Scratch/dent in the door. We notice it after we made the deal but before we left the lot (thankfully) so they had to fix it and i chose to install running boards at the same time. Had to go take a shower after leaving the dealer.
power lift gate and blind spot is only thing missing
Won't do power lift gate because of the power rear window
@@gingeybread1423 Don't think that is the reason...since the sequoia has same power window and power lift gate. There are after market add on for the 4runner power lift gate though.

Should i buy this car the nightshade limited black one with 48 thousand? So confused about that and hyundai palisades
What did you end up getting?? I was in exact same situation and went with 4runner because we have a lot of dirt roads and I can take it camping
Great truck, I have a 2019 Trd ORP and I love everything about it, unfortunately I recently had to replace my front dif because of a needle bearing defect. I'm still sure it will last me for many years to come.
BEAUTIFUL
This is a grown mans vechicle!
Looks the same as the 2007 Toyota 4Runner.
Well 2010 anyhow when the fifth generation debuted. 12 years on the same generation................
And it still has that annoying gated shifter from the 2000's.

Does it not come with running boards
Some do.
The Toyota 4Runner is the suv model for a new compact crossover model and the at the maplewood Toyota
reliable than Ford Explorer and any american SUV.
I like it.
