Hello Shellie. I still have my first album I made and it's just as you described your first one, haha, but I still have it and wouldn't part with it. Many albums later and I have learned so much. I do not know why but I had a funky mishmash in the middle where I covered each side of the spine where the book closes and opens!! what could I have done wrong? P.S. I finished today the Raindrops on Roses album!!!!!!! it took me 4 days to complete it. I must say i am quite proud of it. I followed right along with you each step of the way. Got a little confused on a couple of papers and inserts but managed to complete my album. I purchased all of my album pieces from you and went to town!! Thank you sooooo very much for your youtubes! Just finding this tutorial. I know it is a few years old, but it is the best I've tried so far. Instructions are simple and really easy to follow. This is so far the easiest tutorial I have seen. I cant wait for your next video to see your next style of mini will be. I would like to see how you change the size of the binding for more pages how to figure out the spine and hinge sizes. I have started a mini using some of the information from your tutorial. well ive made my 1st album thanks to the lovely shellie. it has a few mistakes but still ok. i got in the shower after and was lucky to get out as i had Scor tape on the bottom of my foot 😂😂😂 x
Scor-tape is good for traction in the shower :) heeheehee
I have an ancient paper cutter, the kind with the blade that you pull down. It would cut through anything.

Hi Shellie Good Moring on these nice Sunday morning Well I just wanted too introduce my self too you first my name is Betty. I Live in California City of San Bernardino . am new at these Scrapbook making and I love the textures and looks of these different books and I want to learn how to make these .Anyways lol I came across you Shellie and I like the idea of you making these page learning how to make a scrap book yesterday I went too 3 different stores got everything on the list you gave the only thing I didn't succeed in getting was the butterfly's and flowers but am ok with that because I have some beautiful butterfly's that I made and flowers the only thing that bothered me was that I didn't find the , Once Upon A Time Collection but I did find the once A Time Stack . but not even close too what you have plus these once upon a time stack does not have the 2 sided page blank on the other side :( I mean its ok its nice it about the story of the princess and am sure you probley seen it already and know what am talking about so anyways sorry for the long story but I have to tell you am going to go ahead and go with the once upon a time stack I guess . so these morning am going to go thru all your parts of making these scrapbook with you while I drink my coffee and make my daughters son he's scrapbook as I listen to your video these scrapbook that am making right now not even close to what am going too learn with you . once I make these scrapbook I will show you my results in how these came out am not going to lie am a little nervous about it because I hate too make any kinds of mistakes I get upsets about it too quick lol but that's me but the good thing about my self I don't give up on anything :) .. but I really wanted to say was thank you for doing these video I know I haven't started yet but like I said am going thru all your videos these morning so I can have a little idea of what am doing so with all that said have a bless weekend holiday Monday with your family and be bless I will keep in touch in how my scrapbook came out Shellie. Hi Shellie: If I want to add another hinge to the Once upon a time album, what alterations would I have to make to the spine and is the 3rd hinge going to be the same size.? Will cover (back and front) be the same size.? How would I position the hinges on the spine if I added a 3 hinge? TIA.

HI SHELLY. CONGRATS FOR YOUR talent and ESPECTACULAR job. I want to ask you for advise. I live in Canada, I make albums ,but I am using tacky glue in every page. Not acid free. It can damage my sheets. Scrapers say that using score tape, the album is broken after some years. And is very expensive. Thanks for your help.
My albums are still holding together using scor tape. It may depend on climate but I hear some people add art glitter glue to the scor tape, but I haven’t. Biggest tip is to burnish down any scor tape or glues you apply to your papers. It gets any air out from under the tape and glue.

Thanks for your video. I am following along. I don't have score tape but I did have double sided carpet tape which is very sticky, so I am substituting it. It is wider than the score tape so I have been cutting it down. I don't know if it is cheaper.
If it holds permanent, use it. I always say, use what you have on hand first to save money

Heidi M i like to use heavy duty magnets 3/8 x 3/8 x 1/16" thick
I want to do an album to leave each kid while my hands still work. This encourages me. I so wish my Dad had left us letters or notes. I want do do one with a lot of hidden bits, so if they are looking again they come across something new. Can you possibly do a tutorial that has this style, but pages with pockets and hidden tuck spots? I hope I'm making sense.

Geraldine Ciotti Hi. I don't have a video of a larger version using Once Upon a Time paper. However, all you have to do is add an extra hinge and make your spine piece 3.5" wide :) Very easy to convert that beginning album into a fatter album with the more pages :)

Hi Shelli. I hope you are well and safe. I'm back making journals so who do I visit 1st you of course. I haven't made many I am naughty I start then loose interest when things go wrong because I cant work out how to correct them. I have started a little one 5" x 41/2 ", I have made what I call the skeleton and ready to put pages in but have forgotten how you do it without them showing the extra on the fold. I am also having problems with the card cracking on the edge of the spine I have tried scoring and now i am trying black tape. Any ideas on it please xxx

Hi can i ask why don't you leave a gap between your hing & cover ?. On a lot of others i have watched they say that you must leave a gap so that it opens & closes properly, but you don't seem to have any problem. Thanks x
There are several ways to make a mini album. The way I show you is very simple and there is absolutely NO problems butting up the cover-spine next to each other. In fact, I always say to do so unless I'm showing a different way.. Now if you take someone elses tutorial and they say you have to, then you do leave space. :) Happy Crafting!

There is a materials list on all my tutorials that you can copy and paste into your own word document to print out. As for the video, I did not do captions on this tutorial because at the time, I didn't know how (I could barely edit either as I was learning how to operate film equipment and software) when this tutorial and several others were made. My apologies I cannot insert them now. My new tutorial on the 8 x 8 mini album has captions with measurements. Beginners can make that one as well and that may be better for you if you are hearing impaired. Best wishes and happy crafting!
Thank you so very much i saw the list but what i require is the measurements the chip board need to be cut and the page measurements, measurements for scoring etc I know its a pain but I am sure I am not alone in this Like 2 pieces of chip board 8 x 8 and 1 piece that is 8 x 4 Black card stock pieces at ?x? scored at ?? i hope that makes sense as these measurements are not given Thank you in advance
+Debbie Smith I provided all that in the tutorial. These tutorials are free and I do them in my spare time. I regret I did not make them for hearing impaired because I did not know how to at the time some of these tutorials were made. I do not have hand typed measurements. I'm unable to go through the whole album again, page by page, to type out every cut and measurement and everything else required to make this. It would take me 8 hours to do this as each page has it's own measurements per the design and I'm unable to due to my work load. My apologies..

Luv4sugar MC I don't know what scratch board is so I'm not sure if it's the same. Chipboard is the same as a hard-back book cover. So if your scratch board is like that, you can certainly use it .

Have you made a tutorial with Graphic 45 paper?
Marianne - I will definitely do a Graphic 45 mini album tutorial soon :) I haven't done one yet but I'm a Graphic 45 fan and waiting for a real good paper that can be versatile for any occasion. I just completed a mini album with their new paper release from them A Time To Flourish, but it's not a good one for me to teach a tutorial on. I'm waiting to see what they release in the near future
