You might want to talk to your doctor about eating a protein snack just before bed. My husband was a type II diabetic. After I started giving him a sandwich (1 slice of wholewheat bread, 2 oz. of lean sliced chicken or turkey), his blood sugars stopped going so low over night. This was an important mini-meal for him. My husband died 3 years ago; he was 80 when he died. God bless.

I'm type 2 also. Sugars can drop suddenly, I carry glucose tablets in my car. Mine dropped to 20 while I was shopping one day.... I'm a retired nurse doesn't make you smart when your sugar is low! I drove home...nothing looked familiar but got home and got something to eat...God had to have driven! Glad to know about the devise, thanks. Good luck with your diabetes and God bless all of you. I will keep praying for you all.

@sophiawhite7162 I am also a diabetic. I don’t know about the Libre 2 that Kevin uses but I do know that Medicare will pay for the Dexcom system. I like the Dexcom, it also has an app for your phone. The best part is you don’t need to have your phone next to your sensor to read your blood sugar. The sensor automatically sends your level to the app every 5 minutes. It is fantastic. Do some research. Figure out what works best for you.

Hi Kevin, my wife and I are both type 2 and while watching your post where you bumped your elbow I told my wife " hey, Kevin has a CGM, glad you got it.
Don't know if you found the issue about the tractor overheating, the only things I can think of, bad thermostat, water pump, a partial blocked or pinched hose. Good Luck.
      God Bless.😊

Hello Kevin, I am myself is type two diabetic and there are days my sugar can drop right out to nothing and I’ll just be going about doing my daily stuff. and I don’t pay attention to what’s going on but I have my little dog to help me he warns me when my sugars are out of whack he will notify me before I start to feel it and I’m so grateful for this dog I shouldn’t say dog he’s more like a child but you have to be careful of your sugars . my sugar got so low when not feeling well I come to, and my dog is jumping on my chest and licking my face. I must’ve passed out because my sugars were so low but I found out I had had a mild stroke and the dog actually kind of did a CPR. Basically he is jumping on me licking my face bringing me to then I was able to get 911 here and get to the hospital. Yeah, my sugar had dropped down to 35. No wonder I wasn’t coherent no way of what was happening.😮😮😮 . So grateful to have my service dog warn me that my sugar was way too low

Kevin, in the late 70s thru mid 80s I lived on a dairy farm with my boyfriend, Eugene. He chewed fine-cut Copenhagen snuff, to which, he added a little blackberry brandy, it kept it moist longer in the container. We were baling the last load of hay before attending Independence Wisconsin's 200th anniversary, when he got stung by a ground wasp under his eye. I quickly had him open his snoose box, I took a pinch of snuff, and applied it to the sting. It instantly stopped the pain and prevented his eye from swelling shut. He had been so worried that we couldn't go to the celebration becaused of his swollen eye. Snuff or raw tobacco in any form works wonders, afterall that is what our forefathers used.

I use fluoride toothpaste, works like a charm. I keep a travel size tube with me when I’m going to spend time outdoors. People never trust me when I tell them about it and one day at work, one of my coworkers got stung bad in the warehouse. He was freaking out and was going to go to the medi center. My office coworker had some fluoride toothpaste so I put it on and covered it with a bandaid. A little while later he came into my office to thank me because it worked fast and he didn’t even swell at all. I found out about it from an old farmers almanac and years later saw it on a pbs gardening show too. I’ve been stung a few times since and it worked for me too. Seems the fluoride acts as a drawing agent and neutralizes the poison sort of like a poultice.

    • @fuzzylop9164

That is because fluoride is a cancer causing toxin. It is poison and it doesn't does not prevent cavities either according to independent studies.

Considering the age of the tractor 🚜 replacing all the rubber seals hoses and gaskets is your best bet. Unfortunately they are prone to the dry rot, but even still you got a lot of years out of it before any of them gave out.

Those cgm Libres are a godsend. I have been type 2 diabetic for 20 years and on insulin for 15 years and had a hell of a time keeping track of my blood sugar levels.
Ever since I started using the Libre 4 years ago I have been able to bring my glucose from an 11.5 to a 7. The only annoying part is when I would go down under 70 on the sensor in the middle of the night and the alerts would wake me up from a nice deep sleep.

There has been times when I thought I was going to die because it got too low. Not like years ago when it was so high it didn’t measure on my meter. Diabetic life sucks. Ask about the Dexcom G7 most insurances do not cover any of the sensors, but lately the Dexcom G7 is now being covered and it is awesome.

Yeah, I know EXACTLY what that is. I have an identical one on my own arm. FYI my husband and I have problems with the glue holding since we both have dry skin. We use a clear adhesive dressing to help hold it on. You know, the kind they use to hold an IV in place. So if you have problems with it coming loose, that's how to handle it. But watch out, some brands of dressings have a chemical reaction between the two types of glue that can burn the skin. To prevent that reaction, we just use a doughnut shaped piece of paper towel between the two at the edge so they don't come in direct contact with each other.😉

I guess I missed the part about your tractor having the problems with the fluids, I only knew of the flat on the back tire. I have faith in your abilities to get the tractor back up and running. You just seem to figure out any problem on the farm that presents itself and you get it handled. That is an admirable trait to have. I love watching the chickens and ducks run before you and after you as you go to the front pasture for feeding time. It's quite comical. It was good to see Leeske and Kora eager to eat, but Mojo decided he needed a bit more of a nap. He will eat later. Anyway, thanks for the video and blessings to you and your family.

My grandma taught me that when I was little. I use that tobacco with spit on my family. All my kids and grandkids know what to do when they are stung. The old timers have many weird ways to treat injuries or stings or bites. Japanese Hornets are the worse ones. I almost died after getting stung by a whole nest in a hay bale I was throwing out of the loft. I didn’t know anything for a week. Thanks to my grandma’s old timey remedies I survived. No one else knew what to do back then.

My mother's blood sugar started dropping a lot during the night because as she got older she wasnt eating very much. I started getting her to eat a half peanut butter sandwich every night before she went to bed. The protein in the peanut butter would hold her blood sugar steady during the night. I have found also with myself that it takes protein to hold my blood sugar stable. Carbs raise it way up and then drop it really low in a few hours.

Also with a Freestyle Libre 14 always check with a glucose jab because mine tend to be off as much as 10 points. I almost never take anything when it goes low. You should also check your blood pressure sometimes the BP is the problem.

Brother, next time grab some Plantain leaves, crush them up until you have a paste (chewing is acceptable) and put it on the sting. Tobacco does work for those who dont know, my dad always did this. i totally forgot, ty for the reminder of something my father taught me. ❤

As you said I was told insurance will not cover that type of meter. How much they cost without insurance? If I can afford it I would be willing to pay if I can finally get my numbers under control. I can’t wait to see puppies from the dogs. Love ❤️

Wife is type 2 also. After 10 years body stopped recognizing critical low. After 4 episodes of total confusion the doctor put her on the Dexcom G6. Aboslute game changer. No more problems with lows. Able to constantly monator numbers.. After 4 months lost 10 lbs and lower A1C to 6.0. And able to find tune insulin injection per carb intake. Don't know how we got by with out it. Before the only clue was sweating for no reason. Luckily hers is covered 100%. Pro tip nutragrain bars are great to carry with you for emergency carbs.

That one black goat is a hoot. You can't fool her by going to the barn. She is too smart. She is always standing close just in case the dogs walk away from their bowls. Haha 🤣

One night when I was sleeping, I felt dizzy and woke up and checked my sugar level at 47! I raided the fridge and got it up to normal in about 20 mins. Two weeks later the same thing happened- then never happened again! Type 2, also.

Two things. My husband used to go by Harbor Freight so often we started calling it "Rick's Dress Shop. I used to be type 2 but no longer. Orange juice did nothing for me and one day I opened a tub of cake frosting and ate a spoon of that. So I keep a tub in my fridge. Chocolate is the best kind.🤡

Hi Kevin. Ouch wasps or hornets not good do seem to have loads of them this year. Do they have any effect on your hives or do they leave them alone. Hope you manage to sort. The tractor out yourself. Thanks for sharing. Hope the kids have settled back in to school this year and Rachael is good too. Take care God Bless. 💕🙏

💉 Also a Type 2 diabetic with a 41 yo son that's a Type 1. He was diagnosed when he was 6 yo. He was in a test group for the CGMs. He was so glad I got mine. I have a Libre 3 due to connectivity. He has Dexcom. It has helped me a lot.

Always check with the meters too, because mine is almost always 20 points wrong. Once it was saying it was too low below 55 and I ate oranges and it was still saying it was low but I knew it wasn’t so I did the finger stick and it was over 250. So just make sure you still check with the finger stick sometimes too.
