- Antigua, a picturesque island located in the Eastern Caribbean, is a popular destination for tourists seeking a tropical paradise getaway. With its pristine white sand beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, rich history and culture, and warm hospitality of its people, Antigua offers a wide array of experiences that leave visitors with lasting memories. From exploring historical sites and indulging in water sports to immersing in the local culture and savoring the delicious cuisine, tourists can expect a diverse range of activities and attractions when they visit Antigua.
One of the main draws of Antigua is its stunning beaches. With over 365 beaches, one for each day of the year, visitors can look forward to enjoying soft powdery sands and gentle waves lapping at the shore. From popular tourist hotspots such as Dickenson Bay and Jolly Beach to secluded coves like Half Moon Bay and Darkwood Beach, there is a beach to suit every traveler's taste. Snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, paddleboarding, and sailing are just some of the water sports that tourists can partake in to fully appreciate the pristine waters of Antigua. The calm and clear waters are also ideal for swimming and lounging, allowing tourists to unwind and soak up the tropical vibes.
In addition to its natural beauty, Antigua boasts a rich history and culture that visitors can explore. One of the must-visit sites is Nelson's Dockyard, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the only working Georgian dockyard in the world. This historic site, named after Admiral Lord Nelson, offers a glimpse into Antigua's colonial past and its importance as a British naval base in the 18th century. Visitors can explore the restored buildings, stroll along the marina, and learn about the island's maritime heritage at the Dockyard Museum. Another historical landmark worth visiting is Betty's Hope, a former sugar plantation that has been converted into a museum. Here, tourists can learn about Antigua's history of sugar production and the legacy of slavery on the island.
Immersing in the local culture is another highlight of visiting Antigua. The island has a vibrant arts scene with numerous art galleries, craft markets, and cultural events that showcase the talents of local artists and artisans. Tourists can browse for unique souvenirs such as handcrafted pottery, jewelry, and textiles, or watch local artisans at work as they create traditional handicrafts. For a taste of Antigua's music and dance, visitors can attend one of the island's lively cultural festivals, such as Carnival or the Antigua and Barbuda International Literary Festival. These events offer a glimpse into the island's rich cultural heritage and provide opportunities for tourists to interact with the friendly locals and learn about their way of life.
Antigua is also a paradise for food lovers. The island's cuisine is a fusion of African, British, and Caribbean influences, resulting in a unique culinary experience. Seafood is a staple in Antiguan cuisine, with freshly caught fish such as snapper, mahi-mahi, and lobster being popular choices. Local dishes such as saltfish and fungi (a cornmeal-based dish), ducana (grated sweet potato dumplings), and pepperpot (a hearty meat stew) are must-try delicacies that offer a taste of authentic Antiguan flavors. Tourists can dine at a variety of restaurants ranging from casual beachside shacks to upscale establishments that offer gourmet dining experiences. Many restaurants also feature live music, creating a lively and festive atmosphere for diners to enjoy.
I say jus a bad tour guide. I live in this country and I'm telling you that there are alot of places you can go for free with beautiful look outs
Thank you for letting us know!

Wow Thank you for visiting our beautiful island
So nice
My place of birth my beautiful country .
Hell nah
You certainly didn't have a good tour guide. I do think your advice of just finding a great beach is the way I'll go. Thank you for your perspectives!
Thank you ♥
🤙🏿🌴👍🏿nice
Hi, Tina & Eric!
Hey travel besties!! My hubby & I went there for a week in May, 2012. Beautiful & we had a busy itinerary scheduled. Unfortunately I got really sick from partying in the rainy weather at Shirley Heights & was bed-ridden for 2 days. But we still made the most of our time there as best we could. Next time you go, visit Shirley Heights & check out The Verandah resort.
Thank you for the tip
The best look out place is Shirley Height which is also part of the National Park. Which means tourists have to pay the fee.
There is another look out place is at Fort Barrington at the Deep Bay which apparently the road is not good enough for your taxis. To me you guys missed out a lot!
That’s why we didn’t like the tour
And the only
Also Fort James is a very good lookout
I’m Antiguan and I live here. I’m sorry you were left with a sour taste of our beautiful island. I guess your tour guide gave you a tour he thought was worth what you paid for. It is very unfortunate about greedy people who have no pride or love of country. Sorry for your unfortunate experience and invite you to come back soon for a better experience. 🇦🇬 ❤ Love my beautiful islands!
It is very beautiful, and yes we will be back! Thank you 🙏🏻 ♥️
Wow this is my favorite country guys how do I come there
Beaches are beautiful!
The tour guide is lazy. They are other place in Antigua that is beautiful and are free
Name some, name me 3
Bad tour guide ..there are alot of other beautiful places in antigua to see that are normally visited in tours and I saw none of these attractions in this video..
These is my island and I’m embarrassed, not even a bathroom for the tourist to us they have to pay, there is nothing for the tourist to see, I invite you to see the video that they did in Barbados or puerto plata a small town of the Dominican Republic
Thank you. We enjoyed the beach
i agreed.. not worth it
Thank you!
The island has great lookout points all over the island .You guys got what you paid for. It seems that you wanted a lot for nothing .You are charging $36 for a t-shirt but want an island tour for the same price. Sound like some cheapskates.
Thank you for your opinion. 🙏🏼
