Neither husband had any part in raising the children of that marriage. The children found their fathers later on in life and became good friends.

But I also know that Angelina Jolie struggled, before she adopted her first child, he gave her a reason to live and to stop self sabotaging.
I remember when Barbara was queen of the celebrity interviews. I don't know if this was their first interview together or not but it appears to be. Tom is extremely nervous. I don't think he did too many interviews back then if any. I haven't seen him act this way since Katie Holmes. He acts more like in his teens than a 30 year old. I think he was trying to relive his past. He was more vulnerable back then and more relatable. I think that Scientology has really affected him, and not in a good way. It's sad to see how he has evolved.

Tom, your dad was dyslexic. It's probably the reason your father was a difficult person for your mother and you to have a relationship with. He felt incompetent, and inadequate and maybe didn't even know why. If you felt dumb in school, your father felt that even more since in his time, kids were treated terribly for not keeping up in school. Most dyslexics struggle with many issues. I'm just trying to shed light on what contributes to what may have caused a difficult relationship. I know bc I am dyslexic too and it's in my family. My grandmother divorced my grandfather and he was dyslexic but no one is aware of what he struggled with.

So this is him kind of revealing himself literally the first time to the world so to speak. I could see why he would be nervous. It's weird looking back. I was in my early 20s when this came out.
