Thank you Tony. I painted mine black as well. But didn’t bend it. I think Rizoma makes something similar. Love your videos have used them to make many modifications to my matte black Street twin.
Just got a new T120, and need power for my GPS, thanks for the video, quick question..... the power socket under the tank.... is it powered continuously, or just when the ignition is on? Many thanks, Bob.
Thanks for this. I'm going to be doing something like this soon on my T-100. I'm curious, is it possible to fix something like the Quad Lock 12V to USB Smart Adapter in this circuit to prevent unwanted battery drain?
Tony love your video's ,but I have found the standard 1 metre cable for a I phone reaches a treat to the handlebars with the ultimate add ons phone holder from E bay . Granted it hangs over the tank, but good enough for occasional use . Love you're video's by the way , need more stuff on the Tiger 800 . Service intervals cost of services and stuff you can do yourself . Go steady .
Unfortunately, those USB chargers do not only use constant power to light up the LED, but also for permanently transforming 12V to 5V. I learned it the hard way and had to replace a brand new battery after a couple of weeks. Then installed a standard 12V socket instead in which you can stick a mini USB charger whenever you need it. Secondary benefit: You can connect a motor battery charger to it in case you store the bike for a longer period of time.
This has been my issue as well. I really liked this setup but I’ve gone through 2 batteries because of this. If the bike isn’t ridden for over a week there’s a significant drain on the battery.
That's fantastic! I will have to check. So this plug is direct power from the battery? I could use it for a harness with in-line fuse and relay for an aftermarket horn (instead of running the harness all the way to the battery for hookup)?
@@mancavemoto Right. But if the horn harness also connects to the horn switch, should be ok? That said, I'm now thinking of installing a usb on the handlbars. Do you have any videos on power hubs for 'multiple' accessories with swtiched and constant live outs?
Have you fitted an auxiliary power socket to your street twin, I believe it goes to same location you connected the USB port, I would like to fit both an run a dash cam, I have a dash cam with crap instructions, similar reluctance to cutting wiring loom.
Successfully installed thanks to this video. Though I am now really worried about the constant draw on the battery. I ride year round so no winter storage and whatnot. What do you think, not a concern?
Hmm, i plugged the cable exactly where you said. The usb draws Power constantly, not only when the Key is turned (the led constantly is blue, even if Key is off) . Is this the same you experienced?
Yes, the plug is a constant live, not switched. A USB plug without an led light would be better, but it draws so little current that it would a only be an issue if the bike was laid up for a long period of time
Thank you for your videos, much appreciated! Do you know if the usb port you just added is more powerful than the one already installed under the seat? Thank you again!
Hi! Thank you for your reply. I ask that because I already had my phone turned off while it was pluged on the under seat usb on my T StreetTwin. No more battery... Also, this underseat usb seams not working if the motorcycle is turned off. Your added USB always works even if the bike is not turned on if I am correct? Those info are very interesting for this topic as knowing that, and if you confirm also that it works the same way on your side, it makes good arguments to add an extra usb port :) Thanks a lot! Eric
Hey, sorry.. as I'm watching this, I'm noticing your brake reservoir and noticed you changed out the bracket that holds it, The ugly silver one that comes with Rizoma reservoir has been changed to that clamp style. Is that from Rizoma? or other manufacture. .
Views from the Man Cave but you don’t think that would be a problem of running out the battery (if constant on)? Or is it using to little energy for that to happen? Thx
Great tutorial, and beautiful bike. Thanks very much for saving me time time figuring this out.
No problem

Thanks really helpful video mate
No worries
Thanks for posting. Helped my install.
No problem

It’s a permanent live rather than switched

Yes, I guess you could install it in the same way

Cheers, yes that’s what I used to do, but it was a bit of a faff. There will be more Tiger bits coming along at some point

Yes, but its not switched through the ignition, so is a constant live.

I haven’t no. But you should be able to run a splitter
Thanks
Successfully installed thanks to this video. Though I am now really worried about the constant draw on the battery. I ride year round so no winter storage and whatnot. What do you think, not a concern?
The draw for the little led will be miniscule and if you're riding it regularly it won't be a problem
Views from the Man Cave thanks much. Video was really helpful.
Great video! Does anyone know if the 2017 T120 also has an accessory plug under the tank?
I believe all of the 2016 on watercooled modern classics do. They largely share the same wiring loom

Great video - thanks. I have a Triumph Boneville T100 2017. Do you know, if I fit this USB socket, can it be used to power a TomTom Sat Nav?
No problem, and thank you. As long as it’s got a usb cable this will be fine. It powers and charges my iphone with no issues

Well spotted Sean, that is the same Rizoma one, I just bent it and painted it black!
Great stuff! 👍🏻
How much Amp? 2x 2.0A or 2x 3.1A?
This is the last Street Twin video you have. Did you sell it?
I did sell it yes
I missed the link to the other video with specifics for removing the tank. Anyone have that link they can share?
Its on the little i button on the top right of the screen, but heres the link ua-cam.com/video/prKc0gwYT5U/v-deo.html
can you pls do a how to remove tank on triumph street twin :) thanks
I run through the procedure on my Freespirits x-pipe video.... ua-cam.com/video/prKc0gwYT5U/v-deo.htmlm55s
Sorry, not a factory job in my mind, larger heat shrink over the complete jointer would been my choice.
@@raypayne1979 do it how you like.
Who said it was a 'factory job'?
It’s very expensive for what it is, the triumph socket is only about £35.
True, but have you seen it? and where it fits?
useful thanks!
No problem
Really cool product but 96 euros? for what is essentially a USB extension cable? no thanks!
True it’s not cheap, but outside of the price of the electrical hardware there is a nicely engineered bracket and it’s a neat solution.
Do you need to turn the ignition on, to turn on the usb socket?
chong-keng limdr, no it’s a constant live feed
