I used to think like that, having lived a life of shítty second hand HP's with missing keys and dents on every corner. Then one day I decided to just buy the best XPS you can get for fun and take it back to the store after a week. It's been 8 months and I still have it. I’ve worked in IT and used Dell XPS’s before, we had about 500 of the i7, 16gb, 512gb, 4K screens. I would stay away. Dell quality has gone to crap. Even their ProSupport warranty is now crap and outsourced to India, it used to be you’d call a senior tech in the US. 10-15% of our Dells had some HW issue 6-12mo down the line and due to the pandemic and everyone using Zoom, 75% of our dell users complain about mic or speaker issues. Furthermore Dell driver updates always seem to break the device. We’ve had to manually set all our windows devices to never update their dell drivers since after the update the affected device would stop working (display, WiFi, etc) Hope you all found this helpful.
@@mynameisnotsp we switched to Lenovo nd have had way less issues The comparable model would be Lenovo X1 Carbon or cheaper model will be the ThinkBook line
7:16 I had a very similar driver crash issue on my 9300 when I was doing my FINAL PRESENTATION IN CLASS over zoom, and then it's happened several times since but only in zoom during a screen share. The screen froze and all the pixels scattered and shifted and then it eventually turned into a garbled mess like a TV channel you're not picking up over an antenna. Closing the lid and opening it again fixes it after some dark flickering. I think right now some software isn't playing nice with XPS drivers and the newest windows version (since I just feature updated windows)
I'd love to see a review of the updated xps 15 and 17! The top of the line xps 17 model seems like a great option for a professional looking thin and light with reasonable gaming performance.
I have just boxed my brand new Dell XPS 13 9310 to return back to the amazon seller. The power button occasionally does not power up the laptop. I have to hold down the power button for about 20 secs or so each time and then press the button again for it to turn on. You are then greeted with a windows screen and given a choice to troubleshoot or restart. I chose to return it.
Hey, you made it to the front page of Google mobile! Congrats! Also, I have this laptop. Ran extremely hot until Dell released the new Bios. Now I love it!
I use the Dell D3100 dock with two Dell 2716H monitors. I switch between my older XPS 13 9370 and my newer XPS 17! This really is a primary docking station for any of my USB TB laptops. Unfortunately, my Gaming laptop, a Dell G5, doesn't have a USB-C thunderbolt that I can plug into this docking setup. I am evaluating dual Display Port docks for the G5.
They need to knock 600 off your as tested model realistically and drop the rest of the models accordingly Apple is sitting there waiting for competition right now with there overpriced upgrades included it’s still a better overall device for your money
I read on google that the OLED screen has its own processing cores and integrated graphics. This should allow Crisis to be played at 60fps at 3440x1440p.
I have always been a big fan of Dell XPS 13. I have got one of the older models. But it seems they are not doing anything to compete against the new M1 and M2 series of Apple. I was thinking of upgrading my xps laptop to a newer model but now with the new M2 MacBook air on the way, I have changed my mind. My next laptop is gonna be either M2 MacBook Pro or Air.
I still prefer the 2019 7390 model 6 cores 12 threads and one extra USB c port on the right side. I feel like they can still add more connectivity if Dell truly wanted to.
That kind of sounds like a model I'd be happy with. I love the 9370 from 2018 that I have except the lack of 16gb ram, a bit more cpu power(it's a quad core) and an extra usb-c port. If there would be a model like that with the same great battery life I'm sold. Does it have the battery check button on the side still?
Why I won't got back to the XPS 1) the trackpad is flakey AF. I had 3 different model XPSs and all 3, same issue. After a while of owning the trackpad will not respond when you wake it up from sleep at times. You have to either put it back to sleep and try again or reboot 2) Register your dell and expect Car warranty style emails to 'extend your warranty'. Seriously, it was annoying 3) they love to spin the fans (maybe this new one fixes it with 'quiet mode' ) even when just trying to watch youtube/netflix/etc. like watching a movie like you are sitting on a airplane, get a XPS. 4) have to press Fn key to use home/end/pg up/pg down keys, so if you do a lot of typing/coding, it's annoying. Their screens and keyboard (minus #4 above) are awesome though
ive had 2 xps', both had loose screws with some keys also with the paint scraping off. both also seem to have a faulty trackpad, with actually clicking (not tapping) not registering

Bruh You can't complain about Battery Life whilst sporting a 4k Display on your laptop. The UHD+ Panels are always the best imo. Not crappy, but not overkill as well. However, if you look at that 4k Panel once, I can guarantee you, it'll take a lot of persuasion not to get it, because it is STUNNING!
I got an HP Envy 360 with a Ryzen processor for around $1000. Superb battery life and as powerful as you need in a small device like this. No OLED though. You also mentioned about not buying from the manufacturer - I just bought a Lenovo Legion 5 Pro. Not a single retailer has one for sale in my country and Lenovo only had 2 units in stock. I still got a small discount and its a bargain even at full MRSP.
Oh yea, Lenovo's been offering better deals directly than retailers, if not comparable ones. Still seeing a lot about some card discount, and some coupon code. They absolutely dominated this year and the last. Probably raking in big sales. Wonder how they compare in that regard to other companies tho; I wouldn't be surprised if they're up there.
I think many speculators need help choosing between FHD and UHD screen on such a small laptop. Many people claim that 4k is unnecessary on such a small display, ....or may it be needed from those who zoom in and edit their photographs in Photoshop?
honestly, 'though I do happy with the change to the 16:10 ratio screen, it's still kinda off for me to see XPS without the black carbon accent from its side view, it's almost seems it has lost its unique signature look.
yeah I love the 9370 as well but seeing most of the models got worse after that one I don't think it's a good time to switch to a new model. I'll hold out until they have a solid 9370 replacement :-)
I Loved my last XPS 13 but it had major issues with the display, randomly it would just get weird condensation build up within it the display, kinda like your mirror in the bathroom while taking a shower and FYI it was no where near really moist places it even happened in the winter when it was super dry..SUPER WEIRD i never seen anything like it before and im a IT Technician. Since then I switched to Macbook Pro, some day I will most likely go back to XPS because other then that its a great laptop.
8c 16t is overkill for a business focused laptop. the heating will be an issue as these are thin and light. it will probably never be used to the point that it needs to be plugged in to the power outlet, the workload can be handled by the battery itself these wont even be used by heavy users in the corporate world, DELL XPS has been a statement products for the CEOs or other high positions but yeah 2 cores is complete BS for any laptop, leave DELL, why the fk is Intel still producing 2 core processors??? have they not learnt anything from the thrashing they have already received?? the laptop market is the only place they can still compete and they are still producing 2 cores, do they want customers to hate them?

I could set the gpu thermalthrottle limit to 84°C (instead of the 70°C that would hold the gpu temperature at 69°C) I thought that the cpu throttled so the gpu could run full power at 69°C. And thought that by raising that temperature to 84°C would stop the cpu from throttleling. No idea if it worked but there came another problem. With the gpu than running at a higher temperature, it was like I expected using more power ---) powerthrottleing. The gpu ran than at 74°C. But than dropped down the memory speed from 11500mhz to 6000mhz (reading gpu tweak) or 5750mhz to 3000mhz (reading msi afterburner). This leads than to worse performance. Just finished chatting with Dell sales support today. I was looking into buying the XPS 17 with the options for 11th gen Intel i7 Evo and Iris Xe gpu with 16gb ram and 512 gb M.2 ssd like how the XPS 13 has those options on there website but at this time Dell does not offer that option on XPS 17 or 15 models. I see LG Gram has the Intel Evo and Iris Xe gpu with my options available on there 17 inch and other sizes on LG's website. Dell said they will get back to me about the options choice for Evo and Iris Xe on the 17" model. I hope they change the option for us who are basic users, I do not game, develop or do any content creating. I do not need all that big power options. I would like the 17" screen size, light weight for everyday travel/work with occasions of movies, music and the beautiful design. LG Gram has it but what is holding me back from buying the Gram 17" is because of the upgrade options are limited unlike the XPS which allows the option to upgrade the Ram and SSD slots. Dell give me those options please. I would gladly give you my money if you give those options I am looking for I am sure there are lots of others who feel the same.
Why not go as fast as your heat dissipation system allows and therefore maintain as high a wattage on the CPU as possible? Apple does this with their higher-end 10th gen Intel 13” Macbook Pro, and that thing with its one gen older CPU and all would probably outperform this laptop, as it maintains ~30W. It boggles my frickin mind.
Dell is dead for me after the 10% cut down 3070 laptop with an AMD CPU. Also ultrabooks without a gaming GPU like a 3050 Ti are not interesting imo because of current and even more upcoming Macbook Airs and Macbook Pros, as long as they are not below 800$. Sure, the OLED screen is exciting, but not for 1800$.
You can get a 9310 a lot cheaper now. Dell always overprice their products on launch. The only reason I got mine on launch was because I literally had no laptop. The smart move would be to buy one now and sit out 2022 and 2023 XPS. To be honest, the 9310 is so good you'll never want to sell it.

Will there be any?
the entire time watching this, i was trying to figure out why the review was so positive. seems like a giant waste of money if you ask me.
I used to think like that, having lived a life of shítty second hand HP's with missing keys and dents on every corner. Then one day I decided to just buy the best XPS you can get for fun and take it back to the store after a week. It's been 8 months and I still have it. It is, without a shadow of a doubt, not only the best laptop, but the best piece of technology I have ever owned, in my entire life. Every day you open it, you get that same feeling you got on day one. It truly is a joy, an experience and an absolute privilege to own and use. If I couldn't afford one, I'd rent one or do literally anything to get one.
The M1 Mac is literally miles ahead of the competition.
I’m just buying Mac from now on. And PC for gaming
> Buy M1 Mac
> Install Linux
> Profit with gaming as well
@@frankhuurman3955 You lost me at step 2.
I customized the 1195G7 variant on the Dell website. Can't wait for it to arrive.
its still crazy to me that today in 2021 the MacBook Air/pro is the best bang for you buck and destroys these windows laptops at the same price or even cheaper. so happy I swapped to Mac last year! this battery life and performance is insane!!!
Bang for buck? That's a subjective statement. The Macs are super expensive in comparison.
@@avenuePad To what exactly? In the $999 range? lol
@@crestraizn I was thinking more in regards to the MBP. The person said "Air/Pro". In any case, the new Windows laptops coming out have caught up to the performance, and then some, of the M1.
4:31 the Fingerprint sensor login issue. There is a workaround which works for me 100% of the time. If windows refuses to accept fingerprint, select PIN and THEN use fingerprint. It will log you in.
Wow my God, this guy is amazing on making reviews!!! Congratulations man!!! Amazing channel!
We’ve had to manually set all our windows devices to never update their dell drivers since after the update the affected device would stop working (display, WiFi, etc)
Hope you all found this helpful.
Hi Dylan! Thanks for the review. What laptop would you recommend instead? I was planning on buying this model until I googled the common problems. ..
@@mynameisnotsp we switched to Lenovo nd have had way less issues
The comparable model would be Lenovo X1 Carbon or cheaper model will be the ThinkBook line
@@dylan-nguyen thank you so much !
Can't wait for you to do the review on XPS 15 oled soon!
how gentle and calm you talk .... i like it.
I chose to return it.
the dell xps is actually a different level of gorgeous!
I wish there would be a same spec model with no touch display, touch displays on laptops kinda sucks man
Hey, you made it to the front page of Google mobile!
They need to knock 600 off your as tested model realistically and drop the rest of the models accordingly
Apple is sitting there waiting for competition right now with there overpriced upgrades included it’s still a better overall device for your money
Absolutely love my xps 13 9310!
What your review in 2024
Still it work nice?
You are excellent reviewer
Remember the most important thing is your honesty
The i5-1021U one costs 1405$ and the i7 10750h costs 3484$ in my country, all laptops are overpriced here.
Still lovin my 4k 9570.
With its exceptional power and thermal management, Dell XPS 13 is an incredible ultrabook.
Their screens and keyboard (minus #4 above) are awesome though
ive had 2 xps', both had loose screws with some keys also with the paint scraping off. both also seem to have a faulty trackpad, with actually clicking (not tapping) not registering
why the hell are these computers this expensive?
I wish they went bankrupt with such ridiculous prices
$900 for 2 cores what a deal
@@randy89555 Now isn't that a stupid thing to say.
@did OS.
Jeez that webcam is unacceptable. Apple is eating their competition alive.
I don’t blame Dell, just intel can’t compete with the M1
What are you talking about... dell used an i3!
Your production quality is head to head with marques man...!❤
Dude just click other authentication options and then touch the finger print reader. It'll log in happens on my notebook too. 😊

I can't find a review for Dell Vostro 3400 i7-1165G7 / mx330 14" and it seems like a best buy on paper!
Wow, this laptop is so beautiful
My MacBook Air M1 is my daily, looking to get an ups for windows work and Microsoft office use and using while traveling. No editing etc.
Great review! Be interested to know how it compares to the Galaxy Book Pro (not 360).
The latest gen of XPS reverted to scissor switched keyboards. They aren’t Maglev.
What was your wallpaper is the thumbnail!!! Lol
you said i5 but the text stayed at i3 for the middle setup option. after the what a joke part. just a heads up.
Make a 1 inch thick model and give us a giant battery and better cooling, who can't deal with a 2010 sized laptop?
I hope dell releases a 14 inch one with a larger battery,2.8K OLED display,Better cooling, more ports and 4 front firing speakers.A slightly thicker chassis is acceptable. Also they resolve their QC issues as i am still not confident buying their products.
Excellent review! Thank you
I’ve made the same, think of shopping at Dell and Lenovo like shopping at Canadian Tire comment before myself! SO TRUE!
Looks beautiful, but the lack of ports is a problem.
Great review. I'm moving up from the excellent ASUS 14 flip to an Apple M1 14" Pro until Windows laptops tech catches up.
Great overview, thank you 😊
Love to see Ebor rocking the pixel 5.
At this price you are better off with macbook

You can't complain about Battery Life whilst sporting a 4k Display on your laptop.
The UHD+ Panels are always the best imo.
Not crappy, but not overkill as well.
However, if you look at that 4k Panel once, I can guarantee you, it'll take a lot of persuasion not to get it, because it is STUNNING!
review aside, your voice can make people buy bricks if you want them to . great channel
This is my dream pc guys. I hope I will get it one day!
one day
Very insightful, thank you!
Love my 9370, as soon as its done Im getting another XPS 13. Hopefully its even better than this when the time comes.
Dont buy the 9310 it has major overheating flaws. I have the newest one - I wasted $1500. Lenovo X1 Carbon or Macbook M1 is way better.
yeah I love the 9370 as well but seeing most of the models got worse after that one I don't think it's a good time to switch to a new model. I'll hold out until they have a solid 9370 replacement :-)
omg oled is finally arriving... waiting since 2017
I Loved my last XPS 13 but it had major issues with the display, randomly it would just get weird condensation build up within it the display, kinda like your mirror in the bathroom while taking a shower and FYI it was no where near really moist places it even happened in the winter when it was super dry..SUPER WEIRD i never seen anything like it before and im a IT Technician. Since then I switched to Macbook Pro, some day I will most likely go back to XPS because other then that its a great laptop.
Great review. What camera did you use to film this review?
2core, 4core oh dear. Isn't XPS line suppose to be the High-End of Dell's Laptops? TBH 8c16t should be the minimum specs of the line in 2021!!!
8c 16t is overkill for a business focused laptop. the heating will be an issue as these are thin and light. it will probably never be used to the point that it needs to be plugged in to the power outlet, the workload can be handled by the battery itself
these wont even be used by heavy users in the corporate world, DELL XPS has been a statement products for the CEOs or other high positions
but yeah 2 cores is complete BS for any laptop, leave DELL, why the fk is Intel still producing 2 core processors??? have they not learnt anything from the thrashing they have already received?? the laptop market is the only place they can still compete and they are still producing 2 cores, do they want customers to hate them?
so, basically, at this price point, M1 macbook air is unbeatable
Ahh yes, the “Premium chrome Book that runs windows”
where would the Flow X13 from ROG against this?
I was just thinking about buying the rtx3060 legion 5 pro for 1700$ but I'll wait a little. Thanks for the advice!
The problem of the CPU dipping at a X interval can be the refreshing of the background wallpaper. Had my CPU and GPU dip every 60 seconds for 6 months. Then I turned off the background/wallpaper refreshing every 60 sec. Is a commen windows 'feature'
Definitely on the top of my list with the MacBook Air M1
Which has better build quality this or Asus zenbook 13? Thanks
I appreciate your review - why not MacBook Pro/air in the comparisons? Especially the MacBook Air M1 at $999.
It'd obliterate it
@@siyzerix which would obliterate which? The MacBook Air M1 would run circles around this laptop in both performance and battery life. Not to mention the fit/finish or OS support.
@@gooseseey4687 Yes, I meant the mac would obliterate the xps. The xps sucks ass
@Dihydrogen Monoxide F for the xps
Hate to be that guy as someone who used to be pretty loyal to PCs as computers but the new M1 MacBook really smokes this thing in almost every way. Shame... The prices they're charging for configurations are crazy.
I bought a lenovo thinkbook 15 gen 2 a month ago for 790 euro with a student discount. It has a i5-1135g7, 16gb 3200mhz ram, A DEDICATED GPU : mx450 2gb gddr6 (25w or higher) and 1tb nvme ssd , 300nits 1080p touchscreen. And a 60wh batterij. With the screen on 70% and powersaving. I get 8+hours of batterij. (Spotify and light internet use)
Cpu score in cinebench r23 of 5000
And a gpu score of 2000 in time spy
And a gpu score of 6000 in fire strike
Gpu +160mhz core +800mhz mem
Edit:
Keyboard is OK except for that 1 o-key that was broken when it arrived.
And the trackpad randomly stops working.
And in games when the gpu is 100% working with core clock at 1800 to 2000mhz at 69/70°C. The cpu thermalthrottles/powerthrottles?
With a stress test of the gpu and cpu at the same time. I saw that the cpu uses 35+W at 3800mhz for 28 seconds. Than hits 95°C. Drops the tdp to 28w at 3200mhz to 3500mhz. And the temperature drops to 80°C in 15sec. And for some reason drops the tdp than down to 15 than 14 than 13W. Around 1800mhz than on the cpu. And when the cpu runs at 13W. The temperature drops further down to 60°C. The gpu is al the time at full power at +1700mhz at 69°C (hotspot 74°C). There is a lot of thermalheadroom left. Why the f_ck is the cpu than running at 13W 60°C at 1800mhz.
from looking at the stresstest results. When the gpu and cpu are under full use. The cpu at 28w tdp would run at 3400mhz at 80°C with no problems while the gpu runs at 1850mhz at 69°C.
With asus gpu tweak 3. I could set the gpu thermalthrottle limit to 84°C (instead of the 70°C that would hold the gpu temperature at 69°C)
I thought that the cpu throttled so the gpu could run full power at 69°C.
And with the gpu tweak 3 on mijn notebook. The gpu was always on. Always using 1w. While before the gpu was of and using no power.
the Huawei matebook 16/14 is a fixed version of this thing and it cost half as much as this and it doesnt have any of its problems. AMD 5800h cpu, all the missing ports like hdmi and usb
If you want an ultrabook, the base M1 MBA is great assuming you are ok with using Mac OS
If not , the windows surface laptop 4 is a great option as well.

I was a long term XPS user - After M1 - Now MMMMMM I don't know... That side does look greener- You know with Windows 11 doesn't help either ...
hey there. would you mind do some review on Asus Vivobook Pro 14x? Loving your other reviews :)
Just wanted to know about the laptop comparison you did about the battery life, did the other laptops also have OLED touch screens?
At 2:04, the spec says Core i3 whereas you say Core i5. I assume a typo?
Would like to see you review of the 9305 compared to this. Is the body style effects performance in any way or if they are running the same.
I might going to end up buying this because hp envy x360 is phased out in my country.
It boggles my frickin mind.
the inspiron 5000 10th gen i7 is a great alternative to this for average user.
I'll never understand the idea of "premium" netbooks
and even more will never get why anyone thinks that's a good deal
come on, netbook is netbook, keep it under 200!
