If ever there was a woman to admire and pursue, it would be Zheng Jiang(or the Chinese Pirate Queen) I always make a point of sparing and recruiting her at every opportunity. She is one of the best duelists in the game. Her sister in the Make Them Unique mod is a great archer and the pair are wondrous and fierce women, the Southland can keep their Qiaos, I'll take the sharklike Bandit Queen any day! I hope to add her and the bandit King to the White Tiger's Confederation!

Again, Diao Chan is fictional and other than serving as a plot contrivance to explain Lu Bu betraying Dong Zhou in RotTK. So while iconic in terms of history or relevance to the story past that point Diao Chan is also relatively insignificant. Again, giving Zheng a unique skin and making her a champion doesn't take away from the rest since her faction got only her as a unique character(until Make them unique mod fixed that) so i really don't see what your issue with her is for being included. My point is that her playstyle is different from Zhang Yan's, just as the White Tiger will be different from both of them. All three are bandits and getting improved reworks in the upcoming DLC. Generics are Generics because there are placeholders like Zhang He or Random generals that needs filling. Personally I'd rather see Art Budget go into making Generics not look like absolute crap than see it being on Zheng Jiang but what's done is done.
the gold item you got in your Yan Baihou preview was from the weapon craftsman, not the merc contract, it was just kinda confusing because you got 2 items at the same time. All you got from the merc contract was that bronze quality horse. imo for bandits loot should start at zero for newly deployed armies, it would make more sense.
I think CA should have given the bandit faction skaven-like under empire abilities, since in a sense they live under the shadows of those major warlords.
She's so awesome and sexy, I'm playing the base game campaign with Gongsun Zan, and after her faction was destroyed by others, I had the option to recruit her as a general. She was such a badass and won so many battles for me, that I pretended she was lonely and grew up an orphan so I adopted her as my daughter, and then had her marry Zhao Yun. I created the greatest power couple, only Lu Bu could compare but I still like The Light in the Dark better. Maybe Gongsun Xu will have an "accident" one day, and the power couple will be the ones leading the newly formed Yan Empire.

From what I understand, she was active in the ~Shandong peninsula (close to where Kong Rong is for example) before being suppressed. Also she has a character in her faction named Congqian, who was actually a separate historical bandit (his name is also a meme/fake bandit name which as I understand it means something like "follow the money" or something). I emailed Dr. Rafe de Crespigny about this once. The source she comes from is ambiguous and it is unclear if it is referring to two women named Zheng and Jiang or a single person. In his biographical dictionary, De Crespigny remarks that either is possible. For the purpose of 3k Total War, Creative Assembly decided to make it one person because that was easier for the sake of the game's design. They gave her the additional character in her faction as a nod to the possibility it was two people. Here is what De Crespigny emailed to me in reply to my inquiry about whether it was one or two people: "The passage in SGZ 29 appears as part of the biography of a chap called Zhou Xian, who became celebrated for his intrepretations of dreams. The story goes that Liu Zhen of Dongping-a noted literary figure of the time-dreamt that a snake with four feet appeared at his gateway. He asked Zhou Xian about it, and was told that it was not a sign to him personally, but that it had significance for the state as a whole: it related to killing women and banditry/rebellion. Liu Chong starts as a bachelor so there is a chance, albeit an extremely tiny chance, that you can confederate him through marriage. Same with Kong Rong

Have you already forgotten how much fun it is to go around sniping enemy generals with Liu Chong's "Show of Force"? I don't think that ability has been nerfed in 1.5... and you also deny Yuan Shu the opportunity to assassinate/defeat Liu Chong if you 'save' him with Zheng Jiang.
A bit dissappoint that CA took her unique building but don't have something new to replaces it. Really hoping in the future CA will gave her new unique building and made Lu Zheng & Congqian as a unique character.

Just found this old video, very enjoyable. But I think 臧霸's “臧” should indeed be "zāng" instead of "zàng": all the sources I have found including 新华字典 says that it is pronounced "zāng" when used as last name.
Hmm. I hope they rejig the bandit skills to also add stats. I kind of feel it fits that you want non-bandit characters to run your court or be administrators though, so I have less problem with that.
im quite curious about recruiting Gao Shun at this point of time, since Lü Bu's faction is technically 'destroyed' when he joins Liu Bei (as seen from Liu Bei's preview Lü Bu joins as a character, whereas only in his own campaign does he become a vassal). Subsequently when Lü Bu betrays Liu Bei later and reform his owm faction, I'm curious if unique characters like Chen Gong and Gao Shun, who had been scattered to other factions, also leave and rejoin Lü Bu?

She is indirectly referred to in 三国志. It was through a man named 周宣 who is a famous dream interpreter and he predicted that there will be two female bandits. So even in the records she was more of a legend than a real thing.
As an additional point. When he made this prediction from someone’s dreams. Two female bandits surnamed Zheng and Jiang were killed soon after in a local area to prove his accurate dream reading abilities. Cao Pi would go on in the future to recruit Zhou Xuan to read dreams for him. So if anything Zheng Jiang is fictional mix of two real bandits who are dead on their first mention
