HAULING THROUGH HELL, Death Valley 20 Mule Team Part 2
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 жов 2020
- From 1883-1888 the borax mine in Death Valley was 165 miles from the nearest railroad in Mojave, California. The Southern Pacific had finally come close enough to the most remote desert in the country so that hauling borax became affordable. It was still a 10 day trip both ways and the method of hauling borax through the desert was with giant wagons, 20 mules and 2 men. This is the story of how the legendary teams worked to get the borax from the remote mine to the markets of the world. It would be years later when the company founded by Francis Marion Smith, Pacific Coast Borax, would create 20 Mule Team Borax as a brand name. But the idea for that brand came from the 20 Mule Teams that hauled through hell.

Amazing how 2 guys and the mules made those trips thru the desert in all that heat. A different breed of men lived back then. Thanks Ted.
I was thinking of how would the new breed of "woke" posers do this for more than 30 seconds!
I'm not sure you have to be a "woke" poser to not be able to do it for more than 30 seconds, lol. Most of us couldn't compete with these guys. Hard manual labor isn't exactly the norm for the modern workforce today as it was then. lol But you're right, it's amazing what they did. Thank you for your comment.
The closest thing to it might be the modern Iditarod race which is run with a single Musher and a team of 14 sled dogs traveling 1000 miles in below freezing weather in about 8 days.
I saw a video series of engels coach shop where Dave build a set of replica wagons and later a water wagon as well for the death valley conservancey.
Correct. We work extensively with the Death Valley Conservancy.
Sorry, ,,jumping the Chain" muß es heißen....
Great video i have seen alot thank you ⛏️🇺🇸🤔
Most interesting
1884
Thank you!
It turns out a Mule is better than a horse for several reasons, one of which is they are more adapted to desert conditions.
It's true. And they're smarter!
im in summer school
hi
Hope you enjoyed the video even in summer school (a year ago)
Music too loud video unwatchable
Hi thank you for your note. I just watched the video and the music and voice balance seemed fine. You might want to check your own speaker balance. I did notice it seems to be out of sync and I'll check that. Thank you for watching. Ted
@@goldcreekfilmsGCF I tried to watch, tried really hard, because the subject matter is quite interesting, but failed utterly. All I can suggest is, when in doubt, back off on the music, especially during the narration, err on the side of caution...
