Damn it hurts to see those cards but we as kids never protected them nor knew their value. As a side gig you should make a car scent that smells like freshly opened Yu-gi-oh packs and call it "Pack Fresh" for the Sniff Gang
@@TATERGOD13 yea, the near mint ones getting sold is whats determining the heavily played ones price. Not them acually being sold enough to determine the price themselves.
Most of the warping is most likely caused from the cards paper backing taking in moisture from the air (over many years in a garage or basement most likely) and expanding and the holo sheet on top of the paper card backing not being able to expand which causes the curling seen in most of the holos in this case. You might be able to fix some of the warping with a couple heavy books or being in a top loader for a while, but they won't be the 100% the same as new obviously. Just for anyone wondering...
It literally couldn’t be anymore obvious that these are just Sam’s old cards lol you can just tell by the way he’s talking about them and the fact that he just happened to find ANOTHER briefcase full of cards at a thrift store. Like, that just doesn’t happen lol.
Random guy: i got the best condition cards in the world Samurai x: i got the most damage "coughs in disgust" and most disgusting smelling cards in the world
Sam, I feel the same way. I collected Yugioh back in the day and my parents knew nothing about keeping them in good shape. I'm gonna make sure I teach my son how to keep things in good shape.
Those cards definitely went through the laundry cycle a few times. This is pretty ironic though, the guy who loves to smell cards getting a bunch a cards that smell awful.
In my experience the cards just ended up that way because when we were in school we'd have tight pockets on our trousers and we'd spend all day yanking the cards back and forth having like 50 duels on the stoney pavements, wouldn't change a thing those days were fun 😂
You can tell the owner was a Neanderthal that held their cards the same way they hold a coffee cup. Their opponent can't see their cards and vice gripping them like this is just wow
Back then when I collected yu-gi-oh cards when I was 6 or 7 when the first yu-gi-oh starters came out. I didn't know u needed sleeves. That find for a first print blue eyes white dragon was awesome.
The look of the box along with the smell you were saying came off of every thing. Makes me think it was a mix of water damage and the cards sat out in the heat. Along with being heavily played. I know I found some of my old stuff looking like that but without the smell. It's crazy when we're kids we don't add monetary value to anything and then when we get older or perspective changes.
Good condition Warped cards are not considered destroyed. They can be fixed using a hair blow dryer, then immediately putting them in a card sleeve. Another solution is: Keeping your sleeved warped cards in a tall heavy stack facing ( ) each other to cancel each others warpedness.
I used to trash my cards as a kid. My uncle introduced me to collecting baseball cards and I was taken to a new level. My collection that was preserved ended up being sold when I was at college
You say that it's a shame but these cards are an amazing way for someone to play test a real deck such as a blue eyes deck for next to no money...yes the damage is bad but if they are still able to be played in official events then it's a win win as the buyer gets a chance to play a deck without investing let's face it a huge amount of money for the pristine condition copies.
The story you said of a brother getting mad and crumpling the others favorite card is so relatable! Me and my brother did that also haha! It sucks because my first edition Holo blue eyes is crumpled and so is my brothers first edition holo dark magician! Sucks cuz we kept all our cards in good condition besides the ones we crumpled in anger!

haha the story about the brothers, that's so true. My older brother did the same thing to me when we dueled. He would also take my cards then say they were his, I'd insist that it wasn't so he would rip it up so neither of us could have it.
You make a good point Sam, as a kid, I didn't realize just how valuable my cards were at the time. Especially my Ghost Rare Number 107: Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon from Lord of Tachyon Galaxy, now I wish I had sleeved it up back then.😞😞😞
This would easily have been a $5000+ lot for $12 if these cards were at least mint condition. So sad, but im glad Sam took the L so that none of us would have to suffer those sniff gang traumas.
A well loved collection of Yu-Gi-Oh cards that has seen many many duels.. Is worth more than any price. Those cards created a childs happy memories... Priceless
Yo Sam you can fix up like 10 of those cards with anti-warping methods and make them just damaged enough to sell and make a profit tbh. A handful of those cards were somewhat redeemable.
What if the story behind the cards was: some parent who didn't support their kid's hobby and decided to throw their card briefcase into a lake or something as a punishment one day? They then suffered damage from water seeping in. Or what if the kid got bullied carrying his cards home one day.
To be fair you can at least get the warps out of them. So that's at least something. Their never going to be worth anything major but it's still worth seeing if any of them could actually still be playable. I mean although I don't have very many expensive cards I'll still use my original printing unlimited versions of older cards, I mean the "hey unlike the reprint versions of these packs these don't have the EN in them" type thing. Gotta represent the old school players that used whatever person they could of a card sometimes.

Yes nostalgia is worth more than all the money in the world

Plot twist - Sam bought back his briefcase he sold to Value Village. The stories are of him and his brothers.
That's canon now.
The fact that he stayed on that topic and guessed most of the cards makes me believe that😑
Gives sniffing yu-gi-oh cards a whole new meaning... Sam's gonna have PTSD after this one.
Love how the cards are near destroyed, yet he's still treating them like they're new. Goes to show how much Sam respects the game and the cards.
I think that was a BPT Red-Eyes at 16:45! I'm pretty sure that's the only secret Rare printing of that art!
I love how so adamant he is about it being 3 brothers

i love finding junk cards like those, nothing prevents you from still playing with them or displaying their war scars.

That Dark Magician was painful...
The time where sam doesn't want to smell yu-gi-oh cards lol
That brief case was most likely kept in a humid place. It would explain the smell, rust, moisture damage and why a bunch of the cards are warped.
I swear my heart hurts by watching this Video..
haha the story about the brothers, that's so true. My older brother did the same thing to me when we dueled. He would also take my cards then say they were his, I'd insist that it wasn't so he would rip it up so neither of us could have it.
A Massive Legend Card Sniffer is back! Great video!
This is pretty much what I expected to find in Kaiba's metal briefcase
I miss you doing the dollorama packs.
Awesome find.
Keep up the great work
To fix the warping try pressing the card under books. Failing that lightly heat them with a hairdryer and then put them under books or heavy weight
Sam lost Lifepoints by sniffing the briefcase

briefcase was probably left in a basement or garage for years and took on moisture damage, as indicated by all the rust on the outside.
Put the warped cards between 2 cloths, run a hair straightener on low heat over them then sit them under a heavy book
When I was a kid i took care of my cards. My life long Local Shop Owner suggested sleeves and a deck box when i was a kid and i never looked back.
The warped cards: Put em in a thick book with something very heavy on it for like a month or two with parchment paper on each side of the card.
Damn Sam! I see you're rocking that gorgeous Rolex GMT with a Pepsi bezel! Beautiful choice!
You can try to put the cards face-down, and with a hairdryier put it'd setting on hot, and just pass it from up to down until is not warped
Nice watch sam ⌚💪🏻
Those gotta be sitting in there for 10 or 5 years for me 🤣🤣
Sleeve the holos and put them under some heavy books to straighten them a bit, some heat as well might help. A blowdryer just be careful with that tho
