I have made a sprite sheet before using pixlr and MANUALLY typing out the numbers for the XML file. it's a pain in the arse but it works.
Also while I haven't yet used it for making an entire song, only for boyfriend's half of a song while using jummbox for the opponents vocals and instrumental, FL studio trial does work for making songs, though tools are limited.
Also using Psych Engine helps

i used to optimize sprites for the unofficial fnf android port and i made xmls using a CSS image generator that gave me a spritesheet and a .txt file with the x and y coordinates it took a while but it had a good result.
