- Block paved manhole cover being installed.
Block paving through the manhole cover makes the driveway look more continuous. We removed the old steel cover and added a new recessed manhole cover and layed block paving inside the manhole cover to create continuous block paving .
The video shows the process of installing the new manhole cover cutting all the block paving into it .We think it looks very effective check out the video.

I no its happened Rich 🤣🤣🤣👍
Wow great attention to detail and very good workmanship.
Thanks Paul
Something you don't realize is there are no drainage holes in a recess cover so just putting grit in lid means paving will end up floating about in either saturated grit or worse wet sharp sand and then after a while when driven over its the first thing on a driveway that fails thats why myself and everyone i know mix cement in with sharp sand or grit to form a rigid bed under paving to prevent failure in future which is going to happen bedding it on anything loose as it becomes permanently saturated and will fail eventually when driven on,the amount of recess covers i see failing because of this practice is unbelievable all for the sake of a bit of cement now your in the know put cement in your mix for recess covers👍
Its a fair point i actually agree with .Never had any issues with any of our covers but a valid point thanks for sharing 👍
Like it mate was thinking of doing this blockpaving on stone instead of grit sand
Defo way better than sharp sand thats not sharp sand anymore more anyway mark
@@brickrightbuildinglandscaping yere pritty sure they mix building sand in with it
@@markhep definitely mark it aint what it used to be for sure
A lot of work, Justin and it won't be noticed because its been done right, just as it should be. If it had been done poorly then it would of stood out like a sore thumb. Another brilliant bit of skill as usual.
Spot on with that 😉👍💯
Superb 👌🏼 🤩🧱👍🏽
Takes time but worth it Steve .Raining again here all week 😞👍
Hi mate, fantastic video. We've recently subscribed to your channel as we are beginning to move towards hard landscaping and we have found your UA-cam content as well as your good friend Scott from Tidybricks' videos fantastic at teaching others the tricks of the trade. Hope you don't mind me asking these two questions but did you set your manhole cover a few mm (5mm) below the rest of the drive in line with the finished level as I understand the pavers you have laid around the manhole have yet to be whacked? Also, how do you compact the clean stone/sharp sand inside of the manhole cover lid before you installed the pavers inside the manhole cover? Is it just a case of using the float to flatten and compact the bed? Thanks! 😊
Regards,
Sam

Hi Sam
Manhole set 5mm below finshed level.
Also to compact the base inside the cover i use my trowel to hit it down and also a mallet where needed .The rest is wacked at the end with the finl pass of the plate.
Appreciate the comments and good luck to you mate 👍
@@brickrightbuildinglandscaping thanks for your reply buddy much appreciated! 😊
Great job, can I ask , how long do you leave the mortar to go off before fitting the blocks in the lid, there's some weight there and if you did it too soon could the frame not sink down and end up lower than the drive blocks around it?
We can do it all at the same time but its easier to set the frame in the day before really tom .
@@brickrightbuildinglandscaping Thanks for the reply Justin, and as I said previous, you've both done a great job🙂
@tomoconnor1731
Thanks tom nice one mate 👍
That young man is learning from a master. What great skills - should be proud guys, great job.
The boys are a pleasure to work with im lucky dave .
Hope your well mate 👍
Hi Justin ,
And the client says how much ? This is why , lovely detail mate and staying away from sharp sand ! ❤❤👍👍 another more expensive cost ! Brilliant stuff mate stay safe and well and dry pal
And you John have a good week mate 👍
Impressive. Your videos have inspired me to porcelain patio my own garden. The only thing I’m concerned about is a manhole inspection cover at the edge by my fence. What size cover is best? Thanks!
The slabs are 900x600
Thanks alex.
The chamber size is governed by the actual size of the chamber not the size of the slabs mate 740 x590 mm is the standard size recessed cover but manholes come in many sizes so check which size you need lay the cover and cut the slabs into it .
Good luck 👍
@@brickrightbuildinglandscaping thank you for the quick Response pal. Any particular company/make you recommend buying from? Same with the slurry lol. I’m thinking of using the stuff you used in another video where you said it’s like flow point but finer to use and a better finish!
@alexmorgan5760
Hi Alex
London stone or marshalls are good products .the best slurry we have used is from marshalls directly. 👍
@@brickrightbuildinglandscaping ok mate that’s brilliant thank you. Sorry for all the questions I just want to check one last thing. My mot type 1 in areas seems
To have rather large stones that can be kicked about. Shall I use grano dust on top to whack and combine it or leave it before laying porcelain slabs? Can’t really find an answer online!
Great job. But if you ever give us a 3 minute video ever again there will be trouble Justin 😂😂
Sorry jim mate 🤣🤣👍
Lovely pattern match boys. 👦 Great
