Like Jason Bourne, every time I have been on the beach since then, I keep my eyes peeled on the ocean and to the horizon. I am also cognizant of where I'd run to seeking higher ground.

Rogue waves can come from nowhere, I was at a beach once where the water was flat as a pancake and two large six-foot waves came back to back and plowed through most of the people in the water. It never happened before or since in my experience of years of living and swimming in the ocean. If this was expected, they should have closed the beach. That's what happens at our beach when a storm comes through or a hurricane is close. These waves can drag an SUV out in the ocean without breaking a sweat.
