The sax in Dominion by The Sisters Of Mercy gave me chills along with the chorus in Marian. When I first heard that track I was hooked.

I’m old enough to remember touching a CD let alone playing it lol. I’m very happy that Spotify/Pandora/iTunes/Bandcamp/UA-cam have closed the gap on accessing new and obscure music, but the one thing I’ll miss about physical CDs is the album cover art and sometimes there was even a small poster enclosed. The CD era was probably a great time for graphic artists.
That's true, it was a great time to be a graphic artist because a lot of bands put a lot of effort behind their CD artwork. I remember the surprise of finding extras inside like posters.
You can still buy cd's you know. Plenty of people have big collections, sometimes I find old goth cd's at the thrift stores. :)

tbf there are people as young as 13 and 12 who used to play CDs all the time, they were still used a lot even in the late 2000s and the early 2010s, its not like they're some ancient artifact

I recently got into a fight with someone online because they insisted that two metal bands were goth. When they called me a gatekeeper and said its not that deep I started to question myself and wonder why I was so passionate about this and I come to realize It was because I genuinally love the music and want to desperately for people to understand why.
You got the two classic responses at once! You must have pissed them off. GateKeeper is brought out when someone feels called out and 'it's not that deep' is brought out to devalue you.
The reason that we argue semantics when it's necessary and fight is to protect the very moments that we hold so dear. If they are allowed to continue unchallenged, they're misinformation infects others and causes an avalanche of garbage that buries the subculture. When they bury it, they make it nearly impossible for anyone to discover new bands or even find out whether ones they know or playing because it's buried beneath unrelated garbage. They want the title and they'll do all kinds of mental gymnastics to get it. Whenever somebody uses the old tried and untrue 'Goth is just a state of mind' I tell them, 'it is a state of mind and the music is what takes you there.' good on you for digging your heels in.
What is it with people wanting to dilute goth? There is nothing wrong with a band not being goth. Just because I am a goth doesn't mean I have to call Slayer a goth band to enjoy their music.

It’s not the commercial metal bands that wear makeup and kids assume they’re goth these days. It was a whole movement that started in the 90s, and as metal branched out, there were people from both musical backgrounds getting influence from one another. I really recommend you check out Theatre of Tragedy, the Sins of Thy Beloved, Tristania (early years), and arguably Therion.

to me goth music had never aged badly, what I mean by that is the fact that the uniqueness of the sound associated with the subculture is so iconic and ageless that it makes it pleasing for everyone to listen to, regardless of where there are from or the generation that they belong, it's kinda crazy that goth music is able to do that, goth is truly immortal and that's fascinating.
It is truly interesting. It really hasn't aged, has it? I would question whether or not we're being biased but there are a lot of younger generation goths who become equally captured. My sister being one of them, she's straight up gen z and loves a lot of it.
@@angelabenedict I'm gen z as well (2002), I was lucky enough to get used to the post-punk/80s goth sound at a very young age because my mom introduced me to the scene when I was still in elementary school, but even baby-bats who didn't have this commodity early on got into the scene in a very short period of time. Unfortunately there are no goths in my school group currently so that makes it harder to find people near me to try and get theme into the scene, wich I find it absurd because you would think that it's easier to find alternative young adults in an art-school, turns out it's not 🙄.
Anyway I just wanted to let you know that you represent one of my biggest inspirations that made me feel like I belonged to the scene, you educated me on so many topics about that, and I discovered all of the bands that I know today mostly because of you (for example London after midnight, lycia, skinny puppy, the wake, mephisto waltz, the shrouds ecc), I could stay all day long thanking you but it will never be enough, I absolutely love your content and I wish you the best in keeping the goth scene alive💜
I only recently discovered it and I feel like I could listen to it for days. To me it kind of feels like I could listen to goth rock from the 80s or goth rock from now and it has this same "time out of time" quality. (Maybe my brain is just like this but rn the metaphor that most comes to mind is the vampire, at least the way I imagine they would perceive their relationship to eternity.)
Recently I heard the song "last beat of my heart" by Siouxie and the Banshees. Very deep meaning, This is goth beauty.

I've been Goth for 14 years almost and also a Metalhead to, it's both about the music foremost, and expression for the darkness and many other things suited for each individual. Not everyone is the same in the goth and metal world. I love a mixture of dark and light 🕯️🎃🌺
Goth Rock, and Metal are my favorite genres, I love classical music to.
One of the reasons I really like Angela’s channel even though I’m not a Goth. The Goth and Metal subcultures have so much in common. I used to trade tapes of obscure Black metal bands and concerts bootlegs all other the world. I had a guy at my local old school non chain record store that could order me imports. Good times indeed. I can totally relate even though I have heard of maybe 1 in 10 of the bands your talking about.
There are so many similarities between our subcultures including the intense passion and desire to educate and protect it. The feeling of hitting the jackpot when you find someone from your local record store willing to order things in for you is awesome!
As an elder goth I've always loved the goth scene since I was 12 and the music and when I started work at 16 I loved all the clothes black makeup that i could buy i still have my black Iong hair I'm still like that at 53 and i will never stop loving it goth is forever
I agree. Goth changed my life. I missed that show cause i had to work. I was so sad. Faith and the Muse was/is my band and I literally was transformed when I saw Monica sing decked out in deer antlers. 🖤.

The music is really the heart and soul of the subculture. I've only discovered the music in the last few months but it's so good! It's kind of frustrating that we have to sift through so much superficial fashion and influencing media to find the music. A few months ago I worked as a delivery driver and I can say with my whole chest that everyone should try just driving around while blasting goth music. I still remember turning my stereo up to the max and blasting Sisters of Mercy or Clan of Xymox. A wonderful and powerful experience!
Fun fact, my dad is a huge fan of the Cure and when I asked him about it I learned he used to go to goth clubs in the 80s. He was never into the fashion but he said the goth clubs were the only place that "played the good music". He said people were always welcoming despite him dressing like a good Polish Catholic boy lol. I've discovered he likes darkwave so I always send him recommendations which he enjoys. Excited to be going to my first goth club in December. I'm going with my brother so at least I know one person at the club lol.
I love that you and your father can Bond over the music like that. How funny would it be if your dad randomly showed up to your first goth night to share in the nostalgia?

This video is incredible. I remember getting into contact with one of Angela's non-goth subscribers in the past, and I tried to get her to listen to The Wake because I really love them. I even showed her my art project for "Sideshow" that is in my dining room. She was one of those "pizza-crust prancers" (my made-up term), and I tried to get her into more of the music other than the gateway and adjacent stuff. She didn't give a monkey's, but remained one of those people who tries to be "like a goth girl". She once posted a picture of Angela on social media and wrote all kinds of things about how she wants to look like her when she is older. Needless to say, I disowned her because I was sick of beating on a dead horse. She wants to look like Angela, but how can one be like Angela when they don't love the very thing that she's fought for for decades? How can one be like other goths when they refuse to let any of us share the music that we love the most? The point is, well, being someone who has been watching Angela's channel for years, I am very impressed with this video because it proves a point that I made in the past, and about this specific band that that other person tried to ignore, but the point remains relevant years later as Angela is displaying it to the world. Absolutely impressive. 🦇🦇🦇

Even though my origins are with grunge and metal, Goth music changed my life 5 or so years ago. It came into my life when I needed to hear it most. There's passion, beauty, and many other things that makes it so special. It will always live on through bands young and old ^_^
There's always been something very special about goth music that people connect to. There's so many different subgenres that there's something for everyone.
Discovering Goth was literally the best thing to happen to me. I had felt lost for so many years, as if there was a missing key to myself that I had to find. I’ve always listened to different music and had different interests from everyone around me, especially my clothing style, but Gothic Rock itself (plus every sub genre before and after) was the key I had been searching for. Once I discovered the music, everything took off 🦇
I’ve only been in the subculture for about two years so far, but I’ve listened to so many bands during that time and I’m still discovering more each day. Goth is the best🦇🎵🎧
I feel exactly like you, I often feel lost about my self because I’m somebody who listens to literally everything. It’s hard to put just one label on myself knowing that I could also fit under something else and something else. I’m still new to the culture and learning all the sub genres and the culture but recently I found a subgenre that I grew very close and connected to, I believe it’s darkwave
(I’m really not sure the correct genre for it) I don’t know if the band hocico would be considered goth but I love gothic music that somewhat carry an electronic sound to it
I'm still adding to my CD collection. Sometimes I'm pursuing newer albums that have tracks I have heard recently on internet radio programs (crossing my fingers that they have released CDs that I can order one way or another!). Last couple albums though have been out of nostalgia, ones I should have had all along but had not previously purchased. One of them was Ministry's first album With Sympathy. "Revenge" was played recently at club and while dancing to it I decided it was time to get it. the other was Skinny Puppy's The Singles Collect. The thing about Skinny Puppy was they had so many albums...and it was mostly the songs that got played and even overplayed (LOL) at clubs that I really wanted. So I finally took a deep dive into their work, and it turns out the songs I wanted most were on The Singles Collect compilation. So pretty much I was able to get my entire Skinny Puppy fix on one CD!
I love The Wake and Sideshow is my favorite song by them.🦇💀🪦

My parents are STILL waiting for me to grow out of it. I did a swan dive into the subculture when I was 13 or 14, I'm 22 now 😅

How can someone "grow out" of a music preference? Goth music is one of the most mature genres out there, so that's a little odd.

Love this message. I was at Tomorrow's Ghosts Festival/ Whitby Goth Weekend over Halloween weekend, and it's never been so glaring to me the difference between those actually into the real scene and those who are just there for the look/the spook/ the edge/ the fun if it.
The town during the day was absolutely heaving with people, and the queues were enormous. Most of it were people in elaborate outfits, many of them costume-ish, and you can tell that most people wouldn't know Goth if it waved in their face. The real problem was that the majority didn't care to find out either.
Those who appeared after dark for Tomorrow's Ghosts Festival were totally different people. You didn't see any of them during the day, so I don't know where they were!! But out from the evening came the most wonderful crowd of music lovers, and I found my tribe again. The egregore was totally different, and it was fascinating to witness!
Whibys World Goth weekend is definitely not Goth at all. It's just people playing dress-up. Pathetic and embarrassing.
@@Anonymous-wb3nz It's such a shame! The weekend has lost so much of its magic. The Brewery gigs were great, and the Tomorrow's Ghosts bits were fantastic, but next time we might stay at our hotel and chill out during the day or go for a walk elsewhere. Town was just unbearable!! I love the town and the shops are wonderful, but these days I'd rather visit out if season, or at least not during WGW.
I've heard that! I've heard that it's a lot of fanfare and pageantry at Whitby during the day. I'm glad night time brings something different and special.

Oh the mix tapes....You're bringing back so many memories... so many bands I discovered through proxy.
And listening to my favourite band's new album in the dark with a lit candle... listening to that author radio show, in the middle of the night, and catching that song and run to grab a cassette tape to record it... I recall even calling a radio show, where they played songs that listener's requested, and I got to listen to songs that I had no access to. Music is intrinsically linked with the gothic subculture. All these years after, I am still as crazy about music as when I was 16. Songs or bands mean places, friends or lovers that were lost in time but not in memory.
Too true. There is nothing quite like the feel of a CD in your hand. I bet when CDs came out those before us said the same about vinyl. I have vinyl too but I do feel more emotionally connected to the cd.
@@angelabenedict I agree.. CDs are just the perfect format. Practical but still artistic enough to convey your band's style, much better quality than digital formats. Less prone to delete and forget.

Something I always make sure to tell people that are just getting started is that there are two very distinctly different goth scenes and that is the one online and the one in person. The one online can be brutal, full of misinformation and pedantic whereas in person it is a pleasure, I tell ya. 🖤
Cd ritual! I totally did that! Kmfdm, Ramstien, Razed in Black, Thrill Kill Kult, Lords of Acid, Manson, Switchblade Symph, Type 0 Negs, NIN, Sisters. All classics that got me into black vortex that is Goth.
I have BPD and was talking about the goosebump thing, in a group I’m in. (I realize the stigma attached to BPD. Mine is “quiet”/discouraged and I’ve been in therapy. Most people seem to think I look strange, but I’m otherwise fairly normal. A far cry from what’s often portrayed in media). We experience emotions and other things more intensely, but one of the things many of us also experience (maybe because of the nature of us being more sensitive and a good portion of us being creatively inclined) is getting goosebumps when listening to music. It means there are more fibers connecting your auditory cortex to the areas of the brain that process emotions. The actual name for getting goosebumps from hearing a piece of music is called “frisson”. There are certain songs that will give me full-body goosebumps, almost every time. There’s one band that has about 3 that do it. I have no idea what it is, but as soon as the songs begin, my brain just gets a big dopamine hit or something… They can be on a randomized playlist and as soon as I hear them begin, I get goosebumps.
Oh how I miss my CD ritual! Laying in bed, headphones on, reading the CD booklet from beginning to end. I’d have the lyrics memorized by the third listen. I’m endlessly grateful to the bands that include their lyrics on Bandcamp, that at least allows me a bit of the old feeling.
Yes! I love when they include the lyrics. You just feel more connected to the music that way. When I was younger and lyrics weren't included in certain CDs I purchased, I'd sit with a pen and paper playing my favorite tracks over and over again and writing the lyrics down myself.
@@angelabenedict Mom & I would sit and try so hard to decipher some lyrics together! Some of them have remained a mystery for 25+ years.
I discovered the music later than I wished I had since it basically changed my life for the better from that point on. My early twenties, 98-99 one night in a 80s new wave club I never gone to before and hearing The Sisters of Mercy This Corrosion for the first time was like an awakening. The later the night got the DJ played tracks that were staples in any goth club from the era. I was completely hooked. 🖤
Better late than never! That's really cool that the new wave club still played golf tracks. I bet they turned a whole lot of people that night!

Music is such an intrinsic part of who we are, and this video laid it out perfectly. Your experience in discovering The Wake was identical to my experience in discovering The Awakening when I was 15. That feeling of elation when music touches your soul is positively incomparable. Why anyone would want to extract and dismiss that for their own personal gain is just evil and selfish.

I'm happy that we had mirrored experiences, to explain it is one thing but to have experienced it - you can conjure up that feeling like a memory. I was born in 1995 which means I did somewhat get to experience CD's but by the time I was a teen (which is when I discovered Goth) and started looking down obscure UA-cam playlists I also had a similar ritual. I used to put candles and incense on, get on the PC and just listen while searching lyrics and bands up on Google. But still the feeling of holding a cd in my hand and getting to read the lyrics or read info about the tracks was a very special one. It was like I had a treasure that was all mine...this sort of continues today except I have playlists on Spotify which are like my personal musical treasures but nothing can replace the feeling of having a CD all to myself so to speak.

And theres nothing like buying a new album and sitting alone reading and studying it while listening to the music! Mail order was the best. The music is always there, somehow intertwined. It becomes to much a part of it that there are some songs you can't listen to without thinking of something or someone specifically. That ritual of studying the new CD while listening to it was like meditation. I'm so glad you liked the video!

I remember getting a new CD (or cassette when I was in high school ) and studying the jacket and listening to it over and over again. Very different than it is now.
The anticipation of getting home to do it was also part of that experience. I hope new goths can experience it as well.

Hi Angela. I turned 20 in 1987 so I obsessed hard over music in the 80s. And I would buy vinyl. In fact I angrily boycotted CDs until 91 when I had to give in. So I'm not a goth but any of the gothy music I was into was from that first 80s wave. Just obsessively playing favorite albums over and over. I loved (I still have them all) the Netwerk label catalog sheets that came with my Skinny Puppy albums and singles. I never had to order those because SP were 'local' lads. The shops had all the Netwerk stuff and also I obsessed over 4AD.
I still love the music from that period and at times I play it and get an,,,,,almost painful sense of nostalgia. It actually hurts right here when I reminisce hard over that stuff.
I also get a painful sense of a different kind when I meet someone who says they love 80s music and then I find out yet again that my 80s was different from their 80s.
Music is the best. Just the best.
I was really lucky to live in an area 30 years ago that had multiple independent record shops. Rasputin's, a chain in Northern California, used to even have separate punk and goth sections in the 90's. I blind bought so much goth and punk music back then. I still favour cds over vinyl, mostly because it's much more easy to store them. I will always choose physical over digital music.
San Francisco has everything! I remember in the 90s wanting to go there so badly as your scene was quite similar to ours in the sense that it captured that romance. I always considered places like LA to be more death Rock oriented but San Francisco being the more romantic version of the scene. My friend went there in high school and hit roderick's chamber and death guild. He also went to the record stores which she said were jam-packed. He took rolls of film with him to the clubs as well and took loads of pictures from that night of all the people. They would definitely be worth something to many people's eyes today.
@@angelabenedict There used to be goth and industrial nights in the basement of the Maritime Hall in San Francisco in the mid/late 90's. It was a really cool space. My favourite night there was Shrine Of Lilith. The music was a little bit EBMish at times but the crowd was cool. From what I hear there can no longer be club nights or shows in the space because of tech bro condos being nearby. It's a really cool building that looks very art deco. I miss those record stores so much!

And I was so suprised over how good Roberts voice are live! And last summer I was also happy to see She Past Away and some other bands (both postpunk and gothic rock).
And I think you got the biggest point. Goth is a emotionell statement you only can reach through the music. The rest is just a plus that can show our own creativity and personality. Music will always be most important for me.
Just sad that it is even dramas inside the subculture. Specially from people more into death rock.
Nowadays I am sad the subculture isn't that alive where I am. Think it died since around 2010... And it's already hard see someone into same stuff and even harder when it comes to my age.

I truly hope that there's a revival close to you soon. It has been happening all over so it doesn't seem a far-fetched idea. Alternatively if it's possible for you, I'd recommend visiting the states during a festival or perhaps seeing a band you like live. Murder of crows in New York is pretty good. I didn't realize you have issues with the death Rock community as well!
I still listen to songs over and over again. My sister and I and are friends always had to know everything about all the bands we loved. So much so I spent my yearbook money on Japanese music magazines because the band I loved was in them. I had no idea what it said but the pictures were great. And I still have them to this day.

Looking at those old mail order forms is so cool. A few years ago I bought an original copy Return of the Living Dead on vinyl and it still had the mail order form from Enigma Records. I wish I could send it in and get some of that sweet Living Dead merch.
I wish I could've been at that show, you absolutely got the emotional experience across and The Wake is one of my favorite bands. I'm glad they released a new album and I can't wait to get my hands on it!
I'm hoping they tour a bit more. There should have been a lot more people at that show. New York alone should have packed that house let alone the tri-state area. I think what happened is a lot of the promo got lost in the sauce because being caught in the digital age, there's a lot of other distractions to contend with.

I think that's why it affected me so much when I first heard it. It epitomizes the genre and has this feeling associated with it I've almost feeling part of something different and bigger than you.

The Wake - Masked is a great album. You brought back so many memories. Goth is not something you do, its something you are ... and the music is essential.
The music is so evocative. I don't understand mentality behind people who do have the choice to listen to the music and rather than have these experiences and listen to the music, they would much rather just use the hashtag. When you know someone's connection to something is as deep as a hashtag, they're lost cause.
Word ✊🏼 I literally paused this video halfway through to listen to Christine and was right back on the dancefloor of the goth club I went to 🖤🖤🖤 omg, we used to throw everything down and immediately start dancing on the way to the dancefloor, the first note hit and we were like hell yeah! I love that I got to be part of that scene here in Richmond, Va...we had a huge goth scene for over 20 years through the 80's and 90's...Unfortunately, that club is gone, it's been replaced by hipster vegan arcade brewery culture. Young men with un-ironic Tom Selleck mustaches have taken over my town...And mullets, so many mullets, lol.

That’s what it was like when I found The Sisters of Mercy’s ‘No Time To Cry’ single and Shadow Project’s “Dreams For the Dying” album in ‘93.
All these years later I still love reading the liner notes in the booklet.
It's amazing having those things that we can return to that hold so much nostalgia and peace.
I wish I had the 90s experience with cds, but at least I have a ton of music on my phone I can enjoy. Plus you keep putting good music on your videos so I can add even more. 🖤
Bands sell CD's, vinyl, and cassette tapes. I have quite the collection, from new Goth bands nonetheless.

I have bought merch and cds from bands like London After Midnight, Twin Tribes, and Drab Majesty. But I meant like the true 90s experience where it seemed like you would go on an adventure with friends to get the cd. And now we just go online and that’s it. If I share music it’s sending links through Spotify or Apple Music. Hope that made sense. 🖤

I get nostalgic about much of what you've discussed here, including Cleopatra Records (even though I had a love/hate relationship with that label).

Thank you! It was a great show. Cleopatra used to be fantastic. When I was a broke kid that didn't have money to gamble on a band that might suck, if it was on the Cleopatra label I knew there was a 99% chance I'd love it. Now- they're signing soundcloud rappers, right?

As for Cleopatra, the roster of good bands was pretty impressive back in the day; however, they had a tendency to "recycle" much of their collection through the overproduction of compilation CDs, many of which featured quite a few of the same songs.
Still, it was cool to have something that catered to our taste, even it was flawed.
You touch on an element I dearly miss about that time in my life. Though I was a college graduate by then, I got a job in 1993 that immersed me in Goth-Industrial culture while providing a paycheck large enough to buy as much music as I craved and attend all the concerts I could reach. I joined that company with five or six CDs in my collection. I left with over 900, and while my collection spanned from classic jazz to Celtic folk, over half of it came from the Gothic, Industrial, EDM, alt-rock and New Wave genres. You're right about the fun of the hunt. I miss the thrill of finding a new record store and digging through the bins for either some cool artist I'd never heard of (but could afford to buy anyway) or for something I'd heard of years ago but hadn't had the funds or opportunity to purchase earlier. These days, I can access more music than I ever thought would be possible, for less money than ever. Despite my continued enjoyment of discovery, though, there's a magic to that bygone hunt that's lacking in the current age.

Recently, here in Rural Western Arkansas, in US, at a Dollar General...i saw this like 12/14 yo Baby Bat...and i commented...and thru casual conversation, i learned the old Lady with her was her GreatGrandmother! To see a KinderGoth hereabouts was surprising...like REALLY SURPRISING! It MADE my remaining Life, for real! Lol...i am 51 YO from LA Deathrock/Goth Scene. Support Projekt Records, please.

Just heard a song of The Wake called "Melancoholy Man" . The song makes me relax.
That's the wrong band. I should have specified in my video but there are two bands called the wake. One is an earlier Post punk band and the other is the one I'm referring to today which got started in the late '80s and kicked off early '90s. Check my description underneath the video because I've included a bunch of links as well as names of songs to help guide you.

The song was "She keeps no secrets from you" I then remembered thathere was another band in the 1960's withthe same name. The popular song was "My boyfriend's back". The Wake is one of the first goth bands whose sound really resonated with me. I wish I was around in 1995 to experience it like you were...I was born in 1999. I only started getting into goth music in 2018...and going through your playlists on your channel really opened my ears. Collide quickly became one of my favorite bands. But The Wake always stuck out to me...and just like you described..I disappeared into the melodies of the song Christine..I listened to it over and over again and I didn't realize it at the time but it was becoming a nostalgic access point to my first spring-summer away from the town I grew up in..my mom got out of the abusive relationship of 15 years...when I listen to the song I remember sitting on the floor by the window in my new and bare apartment bedroom, putting on dark red eyeshadow and with shimmery orange over it, black liner, black lipstick. I remember a deep red silk midi skirt I thrifted (then got rid of...which I regret constantly 😭) it had a sheer black layer over the red and gold detailing on the tiers, and a ripped hole on one of the seams. I miss that skirt so much. I remember going to an Egyptian restaurant. I remember the sense that I was meeting myself for the first time by listening to this music...
I did notice an earlier video about someone who may be goth for the first time and what does a goth do. Anyone who is a person no what background, I like to get to know a person not because of an image but because they really are an amazing person. Like yourself. ❤️ 🌕 🍵

The Wake was my 1st goth show ever back in 96 at the Batcave. Really great show! So glad you included the footage because they still sound amazing. I remember those Cleopatra compilations. I discovered so many great bands from those!
As someone in Columbus, Ohio, I'm continually confused by how I always hear about The Wake from people in places that are not here.
My husband and I didn't get to go as I was having stomach issues that weekend. Loved the video, I wish QXTs was mentioned by name in the video and not just the notes. It would really help Ronaldo loads with business after the massive hit they took during COVID and all the effort he did in finding ways to keep the DJs working during that time too.

For The Wake to only play at QXTs is just so special for me, as that is the venue that I found the music scene at and there's always guaranteed space to dance in the back of the Main Floor (unlike almost every venue in Manhattan when people bunch up and just stand there).
But the most shocking part of the night was after leaving, popping Perfumes and Fripperies into my car, and realizing that the very first song of the album was a summary of my recent relationship and breakup with my ex, whose name was basically the song. Every word in that song literally crawled through and stunned me during that drive home, a stark contrast to me dancing ritualistically to The Wake at the venue. It's almost as if The Wake predicted this relationship and fate just brought us together.
There was a lot of heartbreak on that album. It goes to show how similarly we all experience things like that which makes it in some way comforting because we often feel like the only person in the world to feel that way.

I love this story. I have had similar experiences. First was in 2016 when I saw The Psychedelic Furs in 2016. I know they are not goth. I grew up in the middle of nowhere Indiana in the 80s and I didn’t even know the word goth. I loved them back then and when I finally saw them I felt like the girl that used to listen to them back then. It was great. Then in 2017 when I saw the Damned. I was taken back again. Those are the best things. I love live shows and have not been out to one since 2018 and I miss it!

That's okay. And Goth there is no old, we don't age we ferment like fine wine or delicious kimchi. There are two bands The Wake, one being a post punk band from Scotland and the other one being the one I'm referring to here. I feel like you might like both of them.
