It’s been a handful of months since the last visit, but in all these years, I’ve not had a disappointing meal at Tribu. I think your observation on the bagoong issue is well taken ; we should temper our expectations if some of our local places are struggling to source 🙏 They actually have a ‘Bagoong rice’ on the menu, which I love. I wonder if that’s just been stricken temporarily altogether ?? Lastly, yes, their Bikol-E is more of the ulam-style rather than the more intense ‘pampalasa’ style of prep. I prefer the latter, but it’s something more ubiquitous in a home setting! 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ 🔥
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I appreciate your insight about tempering expectations, especially with sourcing challenges for key ingredients like bagoong. It is great to hear that you have consistently had good experiences at Tribu over the years. I will have to check out the bagoong rice on my next visit if it is still on the menu. Also, I completely agree about their Bicol Express. It is definitely more of an ulam style dish, but I think I am with you in preferring the more intense pampalasa approach. Thank you again for your thoughtful comment. Always great to hear different perspectives.
@ if you run into the more homestyle Bikol-E, pls shout it out on your channel! :-D Also, now that dungeness season is FINALLY open, I’ve got my eyes peeled for places that are doing Ginataang Alimasag at Sili 🌴 🦀 🌶️ …..pls do same ! 😬
OK, thank you for these recommendations! I will definitely have to ask around to see about these dishes you mentioned. They sound delicious! Appreciate you stopping by Friend .
