Unfortunately I don't have a sewing machine nor any skills whatsoever BUT i appreciate the tutorial and the time and effort and the fact that it's reusable so if I can by some of these from someone, I probably would.
Thank you Ciel, I really appreciate you leaving a comment. Don't give up on sewing. How about you start with a little project like our bowl cosy and go from there? Who knows, a couple of subtle hints and Santa may bring you a machine for Christmas. Have you been a good girl?
I have just discovered this video and what an excellent idea! I have already made one cracker, just as a test, and now I am going to make another 13 for all the family! I have also purchased some Cracker Snaps to make the crackers go bang! Thank you so much for this video!
Thats great! Don't forget to tag us in your pics on social media so we can see them!
Did your cracker bangers work? Thank you.
What a clever idea! I have so much scrap Xmas fabric!
Thanks! This is a great way to use up little scraps. I hate waste and can never throw fabric away!.
Fantastic the best tutorial on crackers I have seen thank you hope they turn out as beautiful as yours 🎄
Thanks so much 😊
Made these couple of years back, brilliant tutorial! Had to add to collection, so glad it's still on here!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it ☺️
Brilliant - easy to follow with clear instructions.
Just come across this fantastic video , really looking forward to giving this a go,just love the easy to follow tutorial, brilliant thank you the best I have seen 😊
Thanks so much 😊
Excellent tutorial - thank you so much for sharing. I also love the everlasting (I hope!) eco aspect of this project too. Off to give it a try now. I don't have any webbing to hand, but I do have some thick pelmet interfacing leftovers, so will see if that works.
Great suggestion! Let me know how it works out.
Yes, I can confirm that it does, very happy with the result 👍😊
Thank you what a fun tutorial. Love your comments!
"Fill it with anything you like" *thinks to myself a little chocolate or toy* "I like gin" Damn girl, I like your way of thinking better. Haha.
A girl gotta have priorities. ;-)
Ha ha! I like gin too! 😋
Great idea
Thank you! Cheers!
This looks great- any suggestions on incorporating the snaps?
there will be a revolt if we don't have snaps!
I would secure them with a little double sided tape. Alternatively why not try securing with a safety pin? Let me know how you got on. x
Marvellous!
Love this! Just wondering how you know who wins the gin?
Whoever grabs it first! >D
Loving these, really clear instructions, I have one question though. Is there a hack to avoid the hand sewing, I thought about hot glue or fabric glue, any ideas? (I have difficulty hand sewing at the moment)
To be honest. I Hand sewed it because I though that would be the neatest and the best solution long term. I don't see any reason why you couldn't use fabric glue tho.
Would strips of recycled plastic bottles work instead of the reinforced webbing?
You know, I think it probably would. Take care of the plastic edge this as cut up plastic bottles can be sharp. I would recommend putting wash or masking tape over the cut edges otherwise it may cut the stitching over time.
I don't understand where the bang or snap comes from unless it comes from the Velcro pulling apart?
Well there are 2 options. 1) you could include a party popper in the cracker or 2) you can shout "BANG!" obnoxiously in your relatives face... I prefer the latter.
@@TodayweCraft Could you just feed a snap into the crackers if you want the old skool 'bang'?
Just wondering if there another way of joining the crackers apart from hand sewing that would work?
A glue gun perhaps?
Is the second piece smaller because it fits inside the bigger piece? Sorry I just wasn’t sure which way round the 7.5 inch side goes. Does the 7.5 inch go lengthways or portrait?
Yes it needs to be smaller to fit inside. I believe it slides in portrait :-)
My daughter has asked me to make 12 crackers for her, any idea how much fabric i’ll need?
I'm not a crafty person but your video makes it look easy so here I go....however, having received my webbing in the post (thanks lockdown 2.0!) although the width is correct if feels very flimsy. Do you have a link of where I can purchase webbing like you used in the video? thanks
Glad it was helpful! I'll try and get you a link to the webbing. I got it from Doughtys online but I can't find the specific product on their website.
Hi there, please could you let me know where you found the reinforced cotton interwebbing? Thank you
Oh it was just at my local fabric store. I think it's usually used to make bag straps.
@@TodayweCraft thank you
When hand sewing the tube are you sewing all along the length or just at the top and bottom? Thank you
I'm not sure that just sewing the top and bottom would hold its shape. I recommend sewing all along the length or at least tacking the top, middle and bottom. x
@@TodayweCraft thank you
Could you confirm where to place the webbing and the ribbon on the second part of the cracker please as those pieces are smaller.
I would work to the edge measurement. The diameter of the second piece is smaller but the distance to the outer edge should be the same. x
Excellent!
Many thanks!
What is the purpose of the reinforce cotton webbing?
I find that without it the ends just get squished and loose their shape. x
Do you know what width velcro works best please?
I honestly don't think it matters. So long as it's strong enough to hold the 2 sides together then you'll be fine. Half inch will be fine.
Tissue box cover please
That's a great idea!
@@TodayweCraft
Thanks can’t wait to see the video
I just bought a tissue box to use as a template today so it should be my next video.
@@TodayweCraft freakin sweet
I want Santa to send the elves to clean and declutter my flat..I am getting rid of a lot of stuff, but it's really too slow, I need more incentive.. Actually, Santa, give me some extra special incentive!!
Ahh, well, the special incentive is what the gins for. ;-)
@@TodayweCraft lol..maybe Brandy for me, my wonderful step-mummy (I'm almost 57 and still call her my 'step-mummy, or MaWen', she's called Wendy!) would have grabbed all the gin!!
Make sure you get in extra for this Christmas!
